have you tried mounting it right over the top left AC vent?
There is a flat spot of plastic there. I have my cell phone mount there.
To clarify, that would be the suction cup would be facing DOWN (not on the windshield)

If you mount it there, where would be the best place to run/hide a hard wire through? I like the idea of running a wire under the headliner, but also prefer mounting a device right there above the radio.

sorry wasnt very clear, I meant all the way on the left side, near the flip open cup holder. Wasn't aware you would want it in the middle of the windshield... (illegal in California to have anything there).

On the far left side its a very simple matter to hardwire.
For a radar detector or dashcam, I think high up near the mirror is the way to go.

Oh I thought you're talking about the flat surface above the radio. So in CA, anything near the middle of the windshield is illegal even if mounted on the dash and not the actual windshield ? If so, I did not know that. I usually don't like mounting things near the side window for instances where I drive over a bump or pot hole, have my window all the way down, and have the worst of luck watching my phone or whatever is mounted fly out of the mount and out of the window

Yay CA, land of CARB, fires, earthquakes, and 16 lane freeways.

(12) A portable Global Positioning System (GPS), which may be mounted in a seven-inch square in the lower corner of the windshield farthest removed from the driver or in a five-inch square in the lower corner of the windshield nearest to the driver and outside of an airbag deployment zone, if the system is used only for door-to-door navigation while the motor vehicle is being operated.
(13) (A) A video event recorder with the capability of monitoring driver performance to improve driver safety, which may be mounted in a seven-inch square in the lower corner of the windshield farthest removed from the driver, in a five-inch square in the lower corner of the windshield nearest to the driver and outside of an airbag deployment zone, or in a five-inch square mounted to the center uppermost portion of the interior of the windshield. As used in this section, “video event recorder” means a video recorder that continuously records in a digital loop, recording audio, video, and G-force levels, but saves video only when triggered by an unusual motion or crash or when operated by the driver to monitor driver performance.
(B) A vehicle equipped with a video event recorder shall have a notice posted in a visible location which states that a passenger’s conversation may be recorded.
(C) Video event recorders shall store no more than 30 seconds before and after a triggering event.
(D) The registered owner or lessee of the vehicle may disable the device.
(E) The data recorded to the device is the property of the registered owner or lessee of the vehicle.
(F) When a person is driving for hire as an employee in a vehicle with a video event recorder, the person’s employer shall provide unedited copies of the recordings upon the request of the employee or the employee’s representative. These copies shall be provided free of charge to the employee and within five days of the request.

That grill and the rear black trim for the tail gate has to be the easiest body mods to do. Why Honda wanted chrome accents here and there is beyond me. In the end its still a Fit.

BTW, how's the cutoffs on those HIDs? Any night time shots ? I can't seem to get decent projections out of them despite adjusting my beam, and I'm starting to wonder if its just the bulbs. For now I went back to my existing halogen osrams just cuz the projection is far better.

How does the wheel diameter compare to the stock tire/wheel combination?

Yes the car is premiered for fogs. You will need the factory accessory kit which includes new headlight stalk...

As far as the ride, I'm not really noticing a difference. The mph gauge is reading 4.2% faster according to miata.com tire calculator. No change in ride though really.

This also means you are putting 4.2% more miles on your vehicle odometer.
Over 30,000 miles that is 1260 miles that you didn't actually drive.
Which puts you that much faster out of warranty
and depreciates the value of your vehicle faster (nobody will believe you or care about smaller tires)
It will also potentially raise your insurance as it bumps up the number of miles you are driving (or not driving...?)

I agree the understated look is far superior in my eyes.

As far as the HIDs go I haven't done any real night driving yet. With my foot in a cast all I've been doing is work n home...

LED license plate lights look WAY better. Should have came that way.
Same with the interior. Would have liked those ambient overhead lights though, I am tinkering around with retrofitting those to the interior, it is so dark in the car at night.
