@ rodney - Not sure if you already did but thought it might be worth mentioning.

Have you done a Google search for like Honda push button hard start? Maybe search over in the Civic or S2000 forums?

If you do enough digging maybe you might be able to help the techs out on how others resolved their issue. Just sayin......

within 36 hours of me purchasing my car, multiple dealers had my car 2 weeks and put 100 miles on it for a different issue. i get the feeling, that the dealer will not be able to "reproduce problem" or keep it for another few weeks regarding this. i am ready to trade her in on something else...

rodney, Did you hold the FOB up to the START button? An alternative method to start the FIT is to hold the FOB up to or even lightly touching the START button.

yep. tried everything under the sun. the car was determined to not let me get lunch.

last time it happened, i was trying to go get lunch too. perhaps it is the car saying in it's own subtle way that i need to lose weight?

Whether they can reproduce it or not the condition exists and you have the video as proof. Take the car in and establish the dealer's "first attempt" at getting the problem fixed. Check out your state's lemon law. The fact that you know about that might motivate the dealer to do more than park the car in the back for a few hours and then tell you they "cannot reproduce the problem"!

In New York the dealer gets four attempts to make it right. If you lose more than thirty days of use the lemon law also applies.

Keep your phone handy for the next time the problem occurs.

@ rodney - You can also try other dealerships in your area that may be more helpful.

I'm fortunate enough to have a handful of dealers within a 30 mile radius.

@rodney, curious how this issue went for you. My wife and I own a 2015 manual Fit. The car would not start in a similar fashion as you mentioned in your original post. We never tried the override feature where you hold the start button for 15secs and depress both clutch and brake pedals. I took the battery to a local auto parts store and they said the battery is fine.

The car has been great overall, but I agree with your comments regarding the push start engine button. Not sure why car manufacturers want to add more mechanized components and switches which are sure to fail.

Regardless if it has push button or a key, you still have an ignition switch and a transponder. If anything a key ignition is more prone to fail due to the extra mechanical element.

I would have the dealer back prob the starter relay. Next time it happens plug the leads into a multimeter and see if it's actually powering the starter solenoid.

Warranty doesn't pay you jack to diagnose stuff like this. I'm definitely not going to spend all day chasing down a problem I can't duplicate for no money.
