Mine had the same thing. It turned out to be a leaf and some grease from assembly plugging the front drivers side drain of the sun roof. It was only partially blocked so the floor only got wet from heavy down pours.

Cleaned the first 1/2" of the drain with a toothpick. Then ran a strand of 3d printer filament (weed wacker line will work as well) through it until it came out of the drain in the wheel well. It's been fine ever since.

Water Leaking Fits Honda Dealership Repair

For those of you with the dreaded water leaks, I pulled the panels a few months after the repair debacle with Honda and saw what the fix looks like. It wasn't extra sealant around the vapor barrier sheet, but rather a buttload of what appears to be a butyl rubber sealant around ever open hole, pop rivet, and speaker. I want to say some sort of tan colored butyl rubber because of its non hardening properties. It's quite tacky and flexible.

Anyway, seems simple enough. Was planning on upgrading my speakers (again) and obtaining some of this bottle rubber sealant on the new speakers.

In a way, I feel shorted from Honda as a company and not in particular with the Dealer. This is a flaw from the factory and honestly would have done the same if I was the dealer. The repair is holding, so hats off to DCH Honda Paramus for working with me and trying to figure this out.

To my surprise, the only dry towel was on the front passenger side. The other three were soaked! It's going back to the dealer, but any thoughts? Common problem? All my trim seems to be in place.

Thank you, Dave
Did the dealer resolve the leaking problem? I have the same car as you do. I have not noticed any leaks on my car, but I have a feeling it is only a matter of time.

Haven't brought it back yet. June was a very wet month here. Waiting for nicer weather so I can let them have it as long as needed. I commute on two wheels when the weather is nicer.

Does two wheels mean motorcycle or bicycle? I’m a bicycle commuter myself.

My commute is a bit too far for a bicycle - wish I could though. I ride a Ninja 650 when the weather is nice. The Ninja (twin cylinder) gets slightly better gas mileage in town that the Fit, but they are pretty even on the highway.

the water in the gutter of the rubber molding there is coming from inside the door , you have to remove the door panel and reseal the plastic sheet.
it's not a good design . water passing through inside of door gets scooped up by the curved edges of the cut outs in the door . ends up collecting between
the plastic sheet and metal just waiting for the seam sealer gunk they use to start leaking . my guess is the doors have these little pockets of standing water
in these spots . over time this can't be good . needs some kind of creative baffling to keep the water in the door

I have a 2015 PBP EX Fit I bought new from Ocala Honda along with the MAX $2,000.00 extended warranty (Thank God!) ..I felt I needed to give ya'll a update my odyssey of fixing my water leaks. Back at the beginning of this thread I posted 3 or 4 attempts by the dealership to fix it...they ultimately ALL failed after a few months when they blew out the drains..Early this year I had water in the passenger rear floorboard that was fixed after replacing some parts in the door. They also found the sunroof frame had never been adjusted correctly. At this point my wife KathyJo was extremely upset with the dealership and the continual problem. In February after yet another leak we both were concerned that mold and mildew were causing her respiratory issues and basically demanded that Honda replace the carpet or I would try to make Honda buy it back. I ended up paying 10% ($120.00) and they serviced the drains yet AGAIN! 3 weeks later it happened in the front drivers floorboard...My service advisor thought it might be the windshield seal since the sunroof drains had been worked on so many times. After 3 weeks in a loaner he told me that they pulled the headliner, tossed the regular factory drain lines and replaced them because they were kinked in a number of spots and completely rerouted them. I have to say I received a nice loaner EACH TIME and Ocala Honda went above and beyond to try and get this resolved..If I did not buy the extended factory warranty it might have been more of a nightmare than it was..

Thanks everyone for your posts here. I am retired and live in SW Texas. We can get heavy rains here, just not very often. I recently bought a 2017 LX and will check for leaks, put in floor liners so will pull them up. I keep car garaged and now will try to avoid taking out when rain is forecast or happening..

I got the windows in my Sport tinted, so I haven't been back to the dealer yet, but.... we got the remnants of Barry here in NJ yesterday. My are saw two inches of rain in under an hour. My street was flooded above the curb when I got home - and there's the difference. I was driving home during this and not a drop of water in the Fit! I really don't know how to explain this to the shop. Sometimes I get water on floors? There's a chance they put a hose over it and get nothing.

2018 EX, I've had since Dec 2017, have 22k miles on it. And only about a month and a half ago, started seeing this issue. Not a single drop inside before that....

It also coincides with a stereo install and window tint done by professionals (although the stereo install is questionable....but that's another story for another day...)

I'm wondering if something wasn't put back the right way by the installers, or maybe its the sun roof? Anyone with any updated ideas before I start tearing my car apart (of course it's storming hard here now...)

The water on your driver side sill looked exactly where mine was coming into. If it is, take your hand and pull on the door skin just under where the speaker would be and if you have water coming out then it's more than likely coming in through the soeaker. Specifically the mounting ring Honda uses. That ring is just two tabs and a screw. An improper installation or lack of seal beween the ring and the sheetmetal will cause it to drip. The Dealers fix for me was to use a bunch of black sealant for the ring.

The passenger side sill looks like the water is coming by the seat adjustment handle. That would more than likely mean that the plastic weather sheeting is leaking. The Dealers fix for that was to, again, add more of that gooey sealant around the sheet.

As for the rest of the pictures .. the seals around the upper and aides of the door will normally be wet (carwash will prove that).

Good luck!

This is all just on the driver's side. Don't have this problem on any of the other doors. I will have to try your suggestions when it stops raining.

I think the water is coming in near the top of the corner window, as you can kind of see where the drips start in the very bottom picture. And I think it is trailing down the door frame, and collecting on the bottom sill, to form what is seen on the sill pictures. It pools in different places in the sill based on how my car is parked(incline/decline/etc), and if it's bad enough, overflows and get the carpet wet

Water will collect through the window as designed. Water gets in and drips to the bottom of the door and runs off into the appropriate drainage hole. The plastic sheeting is also supposed to help keep the water from coming in, but it's really a design issue.

I'm no engineer, but it looks like they expanded interior space by pushing the the door outward and in doing so caused what should have been a normal drainage path to now drip on speakers and inner door sheetmetal. After a hard or continous rain, the plastic sheet can only so much before failing in it's seals and dripping into the interior. The same could be said for improper sealing of the speakers.

When mine leaked in noticed it only happened when my car was parked on an uneven level street - curbside where it causes the driver side to be slightly higher than the passenger side. More rain collected into the door and that's why only the drivers side was affected.

Did some more investigating. And it looks like the leak is coming in on all 4 doors. I tore the drivers door apart, and it looks like it's coming in through the window guide channel.

This only started happening after my windows were tinted, I wonder if anyone else has associated this issue with window tinting.

It was also a couple weeks after a stereo install, which could be why it's leaking from the speaker area. But the initial problem is the water getting into the door frame in the first place.

I also checked the sunroof drain and that seems to be working fine

If problem is unhooked air condenser drain, why didn't it leak during a/c use instead of rain? I just had same problem ... fix doesn't seem to make sense,

there's a narrow " gutter " running down the middle of the rubber seal ( between the rocker panel and the plastic trim piece on the floor ) , you see it when you open the door . if that's getting any water in it during a rain , it's a problem with the water seal in the door . it's all under the plastic door panel . there's some discussion along with
some pictures about this on this forum from about a year ago

Also check to see if your sunroof drains are clogged. There should be 4 total, one on each end of the sunroof tracks.

Not equipped with sunroof and no visible leak on headliner or elsewhere on interior
