Waxing Your New FIT, questions,techniques,products
DAMN! BUt you cars don't RUST!! like the North East! Our rust eventually b/c of Road salt(chemicals) , ICe and snow stuck underneith and all around car!
But i guess florida weather cold be bad for the exterior finish, true.
If you ask NE people, they rather buy a used car from florida! (cheaper and cleaner!)
That's what i hear..............

My storm silver fit has 2k miles. I washed then waxed. Includied in this job are all door jams, hood and hatch. It took me 5 hours to do it by hand
Boy am I slow or what. It is profesional grade job in my opinion. I left no wax over on any thing. How long did it take you to wax your Fit?
I did not wash the car after waxing.
The wax I used was suggested by the local Auto Paint store. It is Meguiars NXT Tech Wax. It is synthetic polymer past wax. Boy it went on and off easy. No swirls at all
This wax does not have partical dust like other waxes I have used. Allthough I have not tested the wax the application part I rate it a 5 out of 5. Does any one else use this wax?

The SSM looks great after it's waxed doesn't it!! I spent the about the same on mine. The detail work getting all the paint makes the job that much better. I used Meguires Gold Liquid. It went on pretty easy too, I was looking for some of the synthetic wax but all the stores around here must still be in the stone age because they didn't have it stocked. Maybe next time.
One thing to make sure you do before applying any wax at all is to clay the car. This will give it a very smooth glass like finish. Now when the wax is applied you will have a shiny and smooth finish.
Here are a few pics of my car with Zaino and then with NXT.

Florida does not have state inspections. We see rust buckets and nasty emissions all the time. I think every state has an annual contest to choose its top 100 worst drivers and ship them off to Florida. And then there are the big, gooey, hard-shelled, splattery bugs, year round. Most Floridians fill up their garages (if they have them) with junk and let their expensive vehicles sit in the driveway and on the street. Then along comes a hurricane, or even a bad thunderstorm, with debris flying around in 100 mph gusts -- you get the picture. A wind driven Home Depot cart dented my Fit just yesterday.

To hot to wax
Ok here is the deal. I got my Fit a few weeks ago. (Love it) I want to protect the finish. I live in the desert and there is tons of construction going on so there is lots of dust in the air. My question is can I even wax my car in the heat. This time of year the daytime temps are always going to be above 100. Even if I pull my car into the garage to wax, it I will be looking at hot temps. So do I have to wait till it cools off in the fall?
Thanks

The turtle wax ice wax is great stuff! I just waxed my car in dierct sunlight this past weekend. Just remember that it is strictly a polish and not a cleaner/polish. So make sure your paint is in tip top shape before you seal it up with this stuff.
Wax Coatings and Wax type
Will be getting my FIT next week and would like to get it protected ASAP.
How many coats do you guys put on your wax?
Also, I've been doing research and there are two types of wax, Carnauba, and the Polymer-type wax. Personally, I want to coat it with Mothers Gold Carnauba wax and will finish with Maguires NXT. But I was wondering, would you guys apply carnauba first, then put the NXT to seal it? I don't know if this is the right thing to do, because I am afraid the two chemical components will interact with each other resulting in less protection then using one (with multiple coats).
Please help!
