Waxing Your New FIT, questions,techniques,products
I have taffeta white for a month or so and all my life ive been a detailing fan(tried most products out there). I could say that Eagle 1 Nanowax is great and so is the Turtle wax "iCe"...but again...our cars paint is new and easy to get shined on..bcuz the "Ice" is not too good for opaque clear coats, but damn does it leaves that Taffeta lickable!
Also soap could be a matter here...but I even use conditioner on mine
(Meguiar's Gold car shampoo&conditioner)
Hey Carlos Alicea...I beg you..no formula 1 paste..that thing's old school
and dusty as hell...

the other day i was at the self car wash here in my hood and as i finished washing the car i was using the black magic wax as u dry spray and this dude in a benz that was there came up to me and says "damn how did you get that black looking so clean its got a mirror finish to it" I felt impressed and just told him what i used...even though the morons at my dealer left swirls in my paint which i have to take off sooner or later with i high speed buff (PAIN IN THE ASS) cause i am doing all the work...but i try to keep up with it...i did details cars at a time so i have my tricks
best advice that can be given is to get to know clay, its great especially if you park under trees or live in a highly polluted area, but when you do it make sure you have a whole day because after you clay, you must rewax. Zaino is a very good and durable wax. The wax you can use for the best results depends on your color and what you want. Do you want it to "pop", do you want it to be like a mirror? An acrylic wax works wonders on darker colors (Klasse, Zaino). A great cheap wax that is VERY easy to put on... liquid glass. NXT is also very good for a wax you can buy at your local auto parts store. I have used Klasse on all my cars, and have it left over so i will undoubtedly continue to use it. Will have to post pics of the first wax on my new fit!

My cardealer (where I will get my new Amethyst Black Pearl 1.4 LS CVT Jazz next week) told me they always put on a "Teflon" coating on the paint on new cars they sell. He also suggested that they could put on a new layer on next time I came in for a one year service.
I dont know what brand the teflon coating, was but he said they first clean the cars paint good and then spray/put on this teflon coating and let it stay over night (around 12h) and then start polish it down.
Is it any good?

Usually these "Miracle" products are nothing but a waste of money. If I were you I would save the 500 and buy some megiaur's NXT or gold class wax and wax it 3-4 times a year and go on. Neither of these products take long to do(about an hour or less) and the results are fantastic.
I bought my Fit on Friday and spent most of my day today washing and waxing it. Woke up at 11am, started at 11:30am and finished by 7pm. I used a very well known and execelent product used down here in Puerto Rico, Doctor Mecanico (Dr. Mechanic), its got a little bit of carnuba in it, and its also great for cleaning your engine bay, wheel wells and under the car, strong stuff that is very easy on automotive paint.
Tooke my time, about 2 hours, and I painstakingly removed every last spec of dirt that accumulated on it for the first 400 miles I put on it during friday and saturday (did the engine bay, under the car, wheel wells, inside the doors, the little bit of body colored framing around the windows inside the car, everything).
After that I used some Turtle Wax bug & tar remover to remove the little bits of glue that are left behind by that clear film they put on the hood and the roof during shipping.
After everything was spotless I parked the car in the garage away from the sun and let it rest there for about 2 hours to let the body cool down and I went to town with on it for 5 hour straight with some Meguiars Gold Class what was left over from a bottle my pops bought for his car. And even though we have a random action buffing machine I went decided that doing it all by hand would be safer on the paint and provide better results. After thuroughly waxing every last inch of SSM colored metal in the car (yes even in between the doors, under the hood, under the rear hatch, even the radiator support brace, didn't do the wheel wells because the metal there is all rought).
After I was done I sat down, opened a beer, and lit a cigarette and just sat there in awe of how good my new fit looked, and how shinny and spotless it was.
Short 5 minute break and and cleaned and waxed my windows inside and out with some Professional's Choice window gel and waxed the outside of every window with some Rain-X windshield wax. Sprayed the under body and wheel wells with some AMSoil MP, sprayed some WD-40 inside the engine bay to make it all shinny and to protect everything after having washed it earlier, and the final touch, sprayed the tires with some Harris Paint's Ever Wet.
BEAUTIFULL!!! SPOTLESS!!! I was impressed by my work, decided to call it a day and just sit back and watch some TV but then I got called by my girl-friend that we had to go to her friend's house so I showered up got in my car and started driving out of the neighborhood enjoying the neck twisting action caused by my new shinny car and low and behold, 3 minutes into the express way, hard, nasty, almost can't see 4 cars ahead rainfall.
She still shines like mad, and its still raining now, guess I'll just spray the car with some water tomorrow and dry it down before I leave for work if its not raining. But it really ****ING sucks to spend all that time working on detailing the car only to have it last 2 hours in its beutifully spotless state.
Sorry for the long post, I guess it had to be long so at the end my pain could be felt.
Long story short, Gold Class worked pretty good for me, though I think I want something shinnier, I would like to get a mirror glossy type shine out of it, wouldn't mind waxing it every month, I'm gonna be washing it every sunday religiously though.

Why are you guys claying a brand new car? There is no point. (unless you have over spray or something else that isn't a normal...IE no oxidation or other contaminates) a good quality polish and wax/sealant will be fine for the next year or so.
As far as an good easy to use wax I would recommend either the Megiaur's NXT or Megiaur's gold class. they both have a small amount of polish in them and both are very quick and easy to use. But in my experience the NXT will last longer(and when I say last I mean bead up well.)

if the car was transported by train there are incidences of rail dust getting in the paint which needs a clay or full buffing. of course for coastal locations that's not a concern.
Hmm... I've never heard of that. I've seen these Fits as soon as they come off of the trucks and their pretty well covered. I can't see how much if any of the rail dust and/or road grim would get on the paint. If so then it couldn't be much at all and it wouldn't warrant a FULL clay or buff. I hope I don't sound like an ass or anything.

Just waxed my SSM Base Fit with 2 coats of Zymol
Spent my day giving her a good wash and wax job. Gave it two coats by doing the car little by little. I usually just waxed the entire car first then removed it with a clean terry cloth. I followed the recomendations on the Zymol bottle and waxed each section one by one, applied and removed almost immediately.
Since the bottle also recommended to mist some water on the car after waxing it and buffing it to the highest shine I decided to go ahead and mist the car with Meguiar's Quick Detailer and buff the shine out of it.
Finished it off by spraying my tires with some Ever Wet so they match the shine of the paint.
All I can say is WOW!!! I though Gold Class was good, I'm now a Zymol fan. I bought it at Advance Auto Parts after reading about waxes for a while on the web last night.
And by the looks of the local forecast it should stay like that until Wednesday! WOOHOO! Finally a break from all this rain. The roads here are friggin dirty as hell. A little rain and the mist that cars kick up covers your car with weeks of dirt and crud in just a few minutes of highway time.
I'll take some pics tomorrow morning with the morning light and post them later in the afternoon after work.

What is "Clay"

How to use? Wax, Clay and Rewax?
Thanks ahead
Cheers
