Waxing Your New FIT, questions,techniques,products
as my wax prescribed, i applied in 18"X18" sections on a cool car--you don't want the wax to dry in the sun, shade the car. circular application followed by up/down for vertical surfaces and side/side for horizontal surfaces. let sit for about 20 minutes (i use this time to continue on to the next section, eventually finishing application in time for removal). take it off using 100% cotton towel, turning it to expose clean surface often, and admire!

Two more waxing questions:
1) Should I rub the wax on gently, or use any force?
2) If my car gets rained on soon after waxing, will that be a problem? I am visiting my parents on Sunday and they haven't seen the car yet, so I want to wash and wax it Saturday, but it may rain. Will it mess anything up if it gets rained on very soon after (or even during!) waxing?

water during the waxing process will complicate removal. typically this is because you need the wax to dry and "bond" to the car. while waxing my fit i encounter areas like the front bumper that'll have water coming from the grill that you can't stop unless you wait for it to dry or use air pressure. this causes that area to take longer to dry.
my wax "cures" for 24 hours after removal. they recommend keeping it out of the elements during that time. each wax is different. check yours.

When the water stop beading on your car then you need to wax it. You'd be suprised how much waxing you might be doing depending on the wax you use. This is especially true if you park outside or drive a lot at high speeds.
I want to wax the car befor I take it off the lot!! I will have to drive it well over 150 miles to get it home and I know the bugs will be bad all the way. I feel it easier to get the bug guts off a good coat (or two) of wax then off the clear coat.
I wash and wax my car every Sunday.
I use Poorboy's EX-P sealant followed by Natty's Blue paste wax. I apply these using a Meguiar's foam applicator pad and buff using a mircofibre.
EX-P offers excellent protection and makes the metallic flakes 'pop'. I applied some to my Civic last October and didn't wash the car until March, but the dirt, bird mess, etc, came off very easily. Since using a sealant, I've never had the need to clay a car.
I didn't bother polishing my Storm Silver Jazz as the paintwork is scratch and swirl-free, so I went straight to an application of EX-P. When I got my old Civic I noticed it had minor swirl marks (because black shows up the marks more, although I'm sure the paint on British-built Honda's like the Civic Euro is softer than on the Japanese models) so I polished it with Autoglym Super Resin Polish.
Hopefully this weekend I'll be able to apply another coat of EX-P followed by some Natty's Blue (and some photos to post on this site...

I've got a two week old Sport Fit. I am a first time new car owner so here are my questions for you experts.
I got these two products for now:
1.) Meguiars Gold Class Car Wash
2.) Meguiars Gold Class Paste Wax
I plan to wash the car every other week. I will use the Wash and then Wax. Is this the right order of things to do?
Do you wax the front and back bumper, and the spoiler and skirts as well for the Sport Fit?
My dealer may touch-up a stone chip for me next week. Should I wait until the touch-up is done before I wash and wax so that the finish will be even on my paint?
Thanks in advance for the answers.

The products that you have will work just fine! You can't really go wrong with Meguiars.
The plan that you have will also work, but I might do it a little differently. Maybe wash the car every week, but wax every 2-4 weeks? Theres nothing wrong with waxing every other week, but its just takes a lot of time / hard work.
As for places to wax, you can wax anything that is body coloured. So yes, you can wax the bumpers, spoilers, skirts... etc, just make sure your car is free of any dirt before you wax! Since you said your dealer will be doing some touch-up's, I'll wait they are done with it first.
Oh btw.. congrads on your new purchase! Where abouts are you in Canada?

About my plan... I didn't mean to wax the car every week. But for sure I will wash the car at least every other week, and maybe wax every season - about 3 months apart. I love everything I own, but I also know things will wear and tear. Being in Canada I think what I described in my plan is the least I can do so I can sleep easy at night.
How difficult is to put wax on the car? I read many times in this thread that microfibre cloth is the best to put wax on.
Ooo Kitchener, up for a drive this weekend?
Anyway, your plans sounds good! I would highly recommend getting the car rustproofed every year. Its probably better than washing/waxing your car every other week.
As for putting wax goes. The first time will be tiring, but with experience, it gets easier / faster. Just remember to do really really thin and even coats. To apply, sponge applicators or microfiber (MF) will work great. I personally use sponge applicators for applying and microfiber clothes for buffing.
