As some of you have more time to take outstanding care of your Fits I need some advice. I am looking for the best and easiest to use wax for my Fit.

Any suggestions ?

i like the Meguairs NXT Spray Wax (wal-mart for under 10.00 and comes with applicator...but i like using my microfiber towels).

its quick, easy and painless. theres also the traditional paste wax and liquid wax which are usually thicker and more time consuming. but as you would expect give a better result and last longer.

Mothers and Meguiar's and such seldom last more than a month. But honestly don't expect a 'once a year' wax to last more than 4 or 5 months, but in general they last longer than normal waxes.
Where you able to find Collinite wax locally or did you have to order it (there are no distributors in my area) ?

Thanks !

I stopped by the local Harley dealer this morning and picked up a tub of s100 for my new Silver Storm. It was easy to apply...easy to buff out...and my car looks great! At $16, it cost half of what I found on-line (just as you said!) - and the salesperson couldn't have been nicer. The Harley dealer had some sort of bike show going on...the place was packed, and there must have been a couple hundred Harleys lined up outside the showroom. I had visions of accidently knocking the end bike over, setting them off like a line of dominos (reminiscent of Pee Wee). Thankfully, that didn't happen.

Have a great weekend!
We've been back and forth before on which brand is best. There are a lot of people on the Forum who are way ahead of me and much more knowledgeable about cars, but I think that as long as you use a good quality wax and take good care of your car, you'll do fine. I started using Meguiar's about 10 years ago because a friend who reconditions Jaguars swore it was the best. When my Accord finally started having major mechanical problems after 11 years and 280,000 miles, I sold it. The body and paint still looked perfect. Water beads on it, and for me that helps me know that there's still a good coat of wax on the car and that I didn't miss a spot. I hope to keep my Fit 10 years or 300,000 miles, whichever comes first -- unless a new generation Fit comes along that I can't live without.

Question Is Simonix worth it?

Someone posted this question already, but didn't get an answer so I thought I'd repost.. does anyone have experience with the Simonix teflon paint protection system? It's expensive but if it works, great...any feedback? Thanks!

Answer all these questions and I'll suggest something.

I wouldn't recommend Collinite products since they contain some petroleum based solvent. Although, it is minuscule, overtime a car's clearcoating might disappear and the paint coat might get damaged. Water based waxes are the best.
Thank you very much for the tip. I am sending back the Collinite back and just purchased P21S wax along with some microfiber towels.

Getting bugs off

Griots garage makes a spray on bug remover/repeller. I am going to try it when my car comes in.
I'm not a detailer, so I've been using trial and error to find something that gets bugs off -- and none are bigger, gooier and stickier than Florida bugs hitting the car at highway speeds. Ever have to deal with love bugs? Meguiars Detail spray takes them off nicely, even off the bumper, where they tend to cement themselves on. I'm not sure if the wax is coming off, too, so I wax every other wash (wash weekly). I've tried a couple of products made specifically for bug removal, and they didn't work well -- too much elbow grease required.

That is completely true! I didn't even like washing cars, but I am like a paranoid with the front end because once you let those bugs there, they will become part of the Fit's body. I use Meguiar's detali spray with a microfiber cloth, and it takes them off, the only thing! So you can sometimes through the week see my taffeta dirty, but with a shiny new front end
By the way I use Formula 1 carnauva wax, and don'tknow if is even good, but makes a hell of a job. Maybe will try some spray wax to use it more often.

I don't have any experience with this however I had a product like that applied to a new car - it looked good for about 6 months but it really lost it's luster. The place wanted me to pay them to get the car properly cleaned before they re-applied it. I bypassed this and waxed the car myself. My suggestion is to check out the "wax" thread here of FitFreak.net - it covers everything from the easy to use to what the pro's use. If you want to have someone do it check out the good detail shops that use the better products - make sure you ask what they use before you get it done.

I have it on mine. Not because I wanted it, but because it was already applied, it was April 17th, and I knew if I didn't buy the one on the lot I'd have a long wait ahead of me.

I wax it anyway because I'm neurotic... clay, layer of synthetic, layer of carnuba. I've seen some other SSMs and mine definitely looks more way "crisp" with a much deeper shine. But, I'm not sure whether it's due to the Simoniz treatment or because I'm a freak about keeping it nice.

I would use Klasse AIO then followed by P21S. I wouldn't need to wax it for at least 3-6months (on my dc5 and z33). the unusually thing is that even after i AIO'd and P21S'd it, it still doesn't look much different because the paint is kept in very good condition over time anyway. So can i say durability? o yeahhh...

also, p21s is so easy to apply it's ridiculous. cuts down a lot of time for you busy folks out there. the only catch to this great product is the cost. but hey, pay the cost to be the boss, and nothing less than great goes on my cars.

I'll post my experiences in 2-3 weeks. I'm picking up my NBP 5MT around the 14th. I have ordered a Zaino Total Protection Show Car Kit based on the strong endorsement and positive experiences of a friend that has an Astro Black MINI Cooper S.

zaino products are very good. they claim it's very durable. the only thing is that it IS very durable to protect your paint, but overtime as with any other product, the car will start to not look as good without maintainence of some sort. most people will zaino every 6 months and it will look fantastic if done right. mostly it's the process and not the product.
