I used Mothers and had the same result,,,hard as heck to remove. But I did the entire car and then started back over it to remove the wax. What I found out later is it's MUCH easier to do a small 3 by 3 area let it dry (very short time) and then remove it befor going on.Ddon't let it dry so long. Much better IMHO

I waxed my car in the sun this past weekend. I started washing it in the shade, but when I was done and ready to wax, all the shade was gone. It didn't seem to make much difference, though. However, I did notice a few water spots when I wiped the wax off, and I was able to wipe some more and remove the spot. Does that mean I removed all the wax, too? It seems like hardly any wax really stays behind.

My car has lots of tiny little white flecks that don't wipe, clay, or polish off. I can feel them with my fingernail. Are they paint chips? I hope not!

My hood (and pretty much the rest of my car) has fine swirl scratches that only I could have done (no one else has done anything to the car). I put ScratchX all over the hood and buffed it really hard, and when I wiped it off, it looked a little better, but I was still able to see scratches in the sun at the right angles. I then waxed it with Meguiar's Gold Class Liqiud. It looks shiny, but I feel it could be shinier. I clayed it about 3 weeks ago. Other than washing, claying, polishing, and waxing, what else will improve the shine?

Glaze. Here's a good sight I started to use when I first started detailing.

Dupont has a spray on teflon coating, I have used it and it does a good job. I also like the NXT car wash soap, seems to get the bugs off the front bumper and remove the bird stains from the roof pretty well.
One thing I do notice is you got to dry the car fairly quick or youll be left with water spots, their sometimes a bitch to clear w/o washing again.

Also every couple months, pull out the cabin air filter behind the glove box and vacume it out, in dusty areas it tends to make the car stink. these things cost like 30 at the dealer, I only have 13K on my Fit and its amazing how much crap gets caught up in them

I used Meguiar's QuikDry wash/wax spray with microfiber towels, but I think I ****ed up pretty bad because there were a TON of waterspots on it the next day, it took a wash and a ton of hard scrubbing to get them gone ;/ actually they still won't get off my windows..

Waterspots are easily removed with a white vinegar wash, look it up. Saved my butt from washing at the wrong time of day plenty of times. Make sure to wax/seal after though.

For a dark color like black or blue, I recommend Poorboy's Natty's Blue wax. I swear, that thing makes your car get such a nice deep finish - I've used my share of different waxes (NXT 2.0, different meguiars crap, mothers, etc) and for a dark color paint, there really is nothing that beats Natty's Blue especially for the price.

Hey thanks for the tips man. I dunno about the vinegar tactic, but I'll definitely be picking up Natty Blue wax for the next time I try to wax

Zaino Store is the best for getting a great shine with least amount of effort. I use it on my Milino Red FIT and have got that wet look shine. Even after a rain the car still looks clean. I also use it on my Wife's Corrvette and I actually washed and waxed both cars in one day with 3 coats of Zaino Z5 after clay barring, it took a total of 6 hours.

In the above quote its not actually wax, but much better. Most people say i waxed my car but i always say i sealed mine.
If you guys are still useing wax in my opinion your crazy. Wax doesnt last near long enough. It WONT last a full winter for sure. Use something like whats in the above quote. Several companies make products like this. There not wax. Wax is old technology.
I use Klasse because its cheap, easy to put on and last about 6 months. I use both the all in one and the glaze sealer(2 steps).
Zaino stuff is real popular amoung corvette guys.Great stuff but a little more costly.

Zaino invariably is what the fanatics use. Sealants can protect for six months which no carnuba wax can pull off. Your SUPER fanatics will Zaino and then use a carnuba on top of that. Zaino's pretty pricey though and if you want to buy your supplies at Walmart or Autozone you won't find Zaino there. Internet only. Zaino not the only good sealant but it's definitely the most respected and well known.

Aside from Zaino, what other sealants would you recommend? (I prefer going to the store and buying, not ordering online =\ )

polymer sealant?

You're just going to have research "polymer sealants" online and see what local vendors have. Liquid Glass has been around for years and is well respected and carried at autozone. I use Wolfgang's deep gloss paint sealant. It's made by a german company affiliated with Menzerna (Mercedes polishes) but you're not going to get that locally. You might go see what "polymer sealants" your local store has and go home and research. Google is your friend! To be honest ZAINO is THE SHIT, however, I've been recently laid off and, in general, I'm a cheap ass anyway. Good luck! Polymer coatings protect for longer. I don't want to wax monthly. Carnubas look great the day you wax but fail quickly. If you google for "paint care", "car wax", detailing, "polymer coating" etc. there's lots of info. out there. Prepare to read till your eyes bleed!

Your best bet at an auto parts store would be Meguiars 20 (or its current iteration). I'd seriously consider going mail order though.

With mail order or internet you just have so many more options. I live in the Midwest (bible belt) and if I want nice stuff, no matter what the category, I've usually got to go to one of the coasts (virtually). Just say no to Walmart!

Astroshield

Astroshield. Used it for years. What got me hooked was the fact it was a polish and glaze. No silicone and No wax. It's been my understanding those two ingredients lead to hazing or oxidation. Not sure if that applies still today but I've always had good results. Leave first coat on for 4 hours, apply another and it last for at least a year for me. Beads nice and small. Orbital helps. Unfortunately, they're going out of business.

I bought a Silver Storm Fit a month ago and am getting ready to wash and wax it for the first time. With all my other cars being very light in color, like white, I'm a little worried about the "swirl" factor I've read about that you see on some of the darker colored cars after washing and waxing.

About a month before buying the Fit, I purchased the three-step Meguiars product that cleans, waxes and polishes.

Does anyone use or recommend this product?

Thanks,
CarGirl
