You could fix that with a resistor, but it may be more trouble than its worth. I was going to do that a while back but went with independent fogs instead.

Yeah I think its probably less hassle and safer to go back to the way it was. I can't do the independent fogs as we have inspection here in PA and I'm assuming that after the mod, the fogs wont turn off automatically with the high beams.

There is a DIY around here somewhere. I'll keep looking for it, but it allows them to operate just like OEM, with the exception that you can turn them on without the headlights being on.

That would be cool! Let me know if you find it. Thanks

Reespeed - I don't think that modification to your turn signal will work. because the parking bulbs never come in dual filament. I think you can get single filament for the turn signal bulb to not flash. I'm in the same boat as you trying to figure out how to accomplish this swap. And I can only think of getting custom LEDs done.

Neither the parking bulb or the front turn signla are dual filament bulbs. So thats not the issue, the issue he's going to run into is that the larger bulb for the signal creates more resistance in the current than the little 194 bulb, therefore the system is fooled into thinking that the signal bulb is out creating the quicker flashing.

Yeah, actually, the way I have it wired now, I have almost the desired result. hen I turn the parking lights on, the bigger amber bulbs are constant on. When I turn the turn signal on, the big bulbs remain constant and the smaller bulbs flash, but due to the lower resistence, as gd3vbp said, they hyper flash. Ironically though, they flash normal when the hazards are on.

Do you know approximately what size resistor I'd need? Rather than taking it all apart and checking resistance on the bulbs and finding the approximate difference, figured maybe you had already done the research. I was gonna stop by radio shack on my way home and figured I'd pick sum up and test putting 1 on the hot lead of the bulb.

I never looked into it more than the fact that you'd need resistors.

TO install the projectors you could probably just use bolts, washers, some jb weld, and a dremel. I am not using fx45's though so I dont know how they mount.

Just letting you know, Daemione, the D2S projectors are already on sale at the retrofit source - mine should be arriving in the mail today. It's not on the website but they will sell it to u if u call them or email them.

gd3vp3 - any luck in getting the DIY on how to have independent fogs? I've been thinking about it and they seem to be one of the better options for DRLs... although I did get some LED strips from the retrofit source (they come free if you ask them and if your order is over 300)... but I don't like the Audi look ... so I'm not sure if I'll end up using them.

One other thing I might do is to point the LEDs backwards at the halogen reflector but I don't know if that will be bright enough though...

Im anxious to see your retrofit but based on comparison testing, the MH1 appears to still be king of the PnP kits based on intensity and width. I do like the consistency and the slope of the MD2s though so Im looking forward to seeing yours.

Took a hell of a search. Would have been 10x easier if my old PC hadn't taken a shit.

Sweet, when my yellow vinyl comes in, I'll do this as well. I will revert the parking and turn sigs as this will do what I want.

might be awhile for me to do my retrofit... haven't done anything like this before... and gotta set aside some time to actually do it... i'm still afraid of having my headlights fog up if I don't do it correctly...
