Progress Auto Rear Anti-Sway bar! WITH DIY PHOTOS PAGE 5!
yes i completely agree. my only complaint is that there ISN'T enough oversteer. lol. i just installed my skunk2 coilovers so, we'll see how much better it gets.
I haven't noticed anything like the first question. I took mine on a wet roundabout and increased speed slowly until the front end broke free. I haven't noticed the rear end stepping out at all, but it does do more of the workload than prior to the install.
As far as ride difference, there's a very subtle increase in ride harshness, but you will forget all about it the first time you take a corner 5-10 MPH faster than you could prior to the bar install.

Thanks. Now that I know it's available (well, we'll see if they will ship to Alaska) and an easy install, I'll keep driving and decide. I'm a brisk daily driver type who likes to hang it on an occasional corner, and after 14K miles I have to say the car feels so sweetly neutral to me that I don't think I can justify the expense. I probably just don't corner as fast as the rest of you. Enjoy!

I doubt that you have the time to read all 600-plus posts in this thread, but the main point of all of them is that this bar vastly improves handling of Fits that are otherwise stock. Hundreds of the bars have been sold and reviewed, and every review has been positive EXCEPT for a few people who think of themselves as "suspension experts" and keep trading out one brand of springs for another, or one brand of coilovers for another. I can only imagine the varied road conditions that you encounter through the seasons that far north, but I would think that lowering your Fit would guarantee damage to the suspension and body. So, if you keep your car on stock springs, you will never regret the addition of the Progress bar.
Thanx, Manx, I appreciate the passionate response. For now I'm going to cope with the 625C it's going to cost to get a passwordJDM carbon intake/battery and matching plenum cover sent here, so will probably leave the sway bar until next year due to poverty
I just wanted your decision to be based on the facts. All of us with the Progress bars hope that you enjoy your new intake system and battery (sincerely) while we ignore our brakes as we scream around every corner!!! (also sincerely).
You guys are relentless. On the way home this evening taking my favorite 55 mph corner at 70 (not even a thrill for you guys, and of course the Fit couldn't care less) I decided I need to have one of those bars, before the summer is out. I messaged the guys at Progress Auto over the weekend for a price shipped to Paradise here, but no response yet. Maybe you can't get one from here. I am going to keep my OEM 15" wheels but was thinking of maybe going to a 205 55 15 tire next time. OEM springs, shocks and ride height, because you are right, the Fit is lower in stock form than my '87 Carrera was and I can't tolerate it any lower for my driving purposes here. So hopefully you haven't heard the last of me in this thread but over and out for now. Any other new happy users out there?
you want 205/55/15 tires? not 205/50/15? reason i'm asking is because 205/50/15 is the closestcloser to the circumference of our oem tires, so will keep the speedo more accurate.
It's kind of a toss-up because I think the slightly larger diameter of the 55 will fill out the wheel wells just a bit and make the car look a little less geeky. I went one size bigger on my old '90 Civic Si with same profile and it made the car look much better. I can live with the speedo adjustment. And any gains in mileage from the larger diameter would probably be cancelled out by increased windage and rolling resistance. Pirelli sure makes a nice rolling P6, however...

I've been thinking (sorry) through this sway bar issue and it seems to me that the deal with the torsion beam is that it just plain IS the rear anti-sway bar, working in association with the rear springs. That's why the Progress bar is so simple, no drop links, no attachment points to the frame, because all it has to do is stiffen the beam. I did talk with Progress and they will ship to Alaska, nice dudes. I have my tires at 30 psi front, 26 rear (stone cold in the shade) and I just can't get the car to feel wrong at any cornering speed I will ever normally use. So unless I had really sticky tires and drove the car at full race intensity, the additional bar is a waste of money for me. But I have to apologize for being an almost 57 Y/O dude in this thread, I threw my past cars into corners as hard as I could, and I want the Fit to go 300K miles so I'm in no hurry to prematurely fry my rear wheel bearings. With that, I'll get out of you gentlemans' hair....
i wonder if Progress would entertain making a softer version of their
current rear swaybar that will have the 3 treads welded on the bar
ends instead of using their bulky hardware.
be worth a try especially for those with coilovers.

We'll see...
After reading all the pros and cons, the cons being so discouraging and the pros being so inspiring, I have ultimately decided to order the bar and see for myself. I'm the guy who has no issues with my Fit handling the way it does. I had a '71 MG Midget and last fall sold a '87 911 Carrera that I tweaked and used to fling around a little, so I know what feels good to me in terms of straight-line stability and cornering. I'll be sure to honor my belief that you all have the right to my opinion. If I really don't like it, you will be able to get a little-used one for a great price right here...
I have decided to keep my Fit stock so am selling my (never-installed) bar for $100. Anyone near Pasadena who would be interested in picking it up pm me.
UPDATE: Bar is sold, thanks!

That's a HELL of a deal for anyone who has not yet improved their handling with this mod. But you would get more response by posting this in the "For Sale/Want To Buy" forum. Good luck! If I had not bought the first one, I would buy yours.
if you run stock offset wheels or even pushout just the rear wheels
10mm to 15mm the bar should feel pretty good. the bar is non-adjustable
so doesn't give us any flexibility. I think progress designed the bar to be
used on stock wheels (ie: +55mm offset).
when you run +40mm wheels like me (and the majority) and the progress
bar it gives it too much oversteer bias unless you can stiffen up the front
suspension, ie: ProC's, bigger front swaybar. oversteer bias is not
measured by just how loose your rear is. it's also measured through the
car's feedback through the steering wheel. it just didnt feel right on
my car.
best you try it and see. if you compromise yourself to accept the
werd feel through the steering wheel, you can achieve the flatter
cornering most people want. If i was forced to live with the progress
bar, i would change my wheels and run +55mm front and +40mm rear
and see how it goes. It should feel pretty good.
