The process of making the parts is the same for the various weave and for carbon kevlar. However 2x2 fabric is more 'drapable' meaning it conforms to complex curves and shapes easier. This does make it easier to deform the threads in the weave than 1x1, where the threads stay lined up better. But once you get it in the mold it's basically the same.

I'd like hear from those who have received the scoops at long last, regarding the performance and point of these. It's been discussed a little bit, in particular its effect on engine bay temperature under the hood, but really what exactly does it do in function and how does this help whatever it is you're trying to do with it? Is that the point you bought the scoop for, on the notion that it will lower the air temperature a few degrees - and does it actually do this in your experience?

i have mine and my car has been running cooler under hood temperatures.
my engine was running around 180 degrees (f) and now im constanly running around 172 degrees.
it just looks freaking cool too!!

my opinions on the piece.
the quality of craftsmanship is top notch. its a great looking piece. fitment could be better. there is a small gap behind the scoop as it doesnt sit flush with where the two tabs go in. also, the securing of the scoop isnt ideal. maybe if he provided clips for the edge of the part that goes into the weather stripping i would feel better about it because this piece will see some major wind resistance and the last thing i want to see is it fly away on the freeway.
all in all, a very nice piece, i am happy with it. it does the job and looks great. well worth the money.

Thanks for the quick replies. There's alot of talk about the scoop but not much regarding what it does or what it can do. Hopefully we'll have more people chiming in with their experience with it as more go out.
Good to hear that it is helping lower temperatures though, which is the primary reason I'm sure alot of people are on the list for.

Has anyone noticed any effects form water entering the engine bay? I know the engine bay does get some water in it from being washed, etc. However, I was wondering if the water pooled or anything of the sort from being left in the rain.

i have the spoon socks on my brake resiviors and they have stayed dry even when driving in the rain. now when i washed it i could spray right into the engine and they got soaked so i try to avoid that.
other than trying to get the engine wet it keeps water out suprisingly well.

Thanks for the reports and comments on the scoop.
I plan on having at least a couple fiberglass ones out this week and hopefully a couple more carbon.
The observations of water / rain brought up a thought that I would appreciate feedback on. Right now the opening of the scoop directs the airflow down, which would include the area around the master cylinders. Would it be better to add a deflector to the underside the would direct the air more toward the front and possibly away from the master cylinders, thus preventing water from reaching them?
Since I don't have a car to measure, I would need a little input to accomplish this. If it is thought that this would be better maybe a few pics with some dimensions of this area could be provided.
