Didn't you ask this same question a month ago? Maybe it was someone else...

The intake doesn't sit beneath that "hole"....the exhaust manifold does. Fortunately engineers are smart --> engines are waterproof. Lastly, much more water is splashed up off the road when you drive through a puddle or rain soaked street than would ever trickle down that hole. The beauty of this design is that at speed, air is drawn out of the engine bay....water will move across the hood and over the car (due to drag). When parked this is irrevlevant...again because the motor is waterproof.

Sitting at a light, idling in a torrential downpour, with an exposed SRI...whether this will cause a problem remains to be seen.

I don't believe I did. As far as this part, this is what i am most concerned about because of the placement of my SRI/CAI being towards the front instead of the standard location mostly used.

If this is a huge issue i might have to go back to my stock intake if I really want this hood. It really all comes down to which i want more i suppose.

A cool hood that relieves engine heat or my intake that sounds amazing and may or may not increase anything but it feels like it does, without the dyno data of course.

So do you have a CAI or a SRI? If you have a CAI in a downpour you're screwed either way.

Its a short ram, i am assuming your considering CAI only an intake that goes down below the engine bay near the fender etc...

I believe you have commented on my intake in the DIY GE Intake thread.

Yeah, anything sitting in the engine bay is sucking in hot air (hopefully this hood will reduce that to some extent).

I was commenting on DIY intakes in general...not yours in particular. If your SRI is oriented towards the front of the engine then it would be well protected from the rain. If you look at the picture, you can see where the vent is in relation to your SRI. I think the most vulnerable SRI will be the DIY intakes that project just off the intake manifold. My assumption is that the PRM will probably be the optimal intake as it is both shielded and contained within the engine bay. Again, this is all assumption. I have a stock airbox at this time. We really need to see the real world results...

In regards to the hole, I will have a mesh to close it up to prevent large articles from entiring the hood.

so is the $60 deposit being taken off the $550? Or was it $610 then minus the $60? I'm just trying to clear this up ty!

My understanding is price - deposit + shipping.

For me: $480 - $60 + $80 = a helluva deal for a bad@ss hood
