I don't want to over-call it...after speaking with the wifey, it sounds like these may just be unfinished, raised areas of the fiberglass. This isn't a big deal since the whole thing will have to be wetsanded and brillo'd before paint. This is probably the same thing JDP does prior to laying the carbon weave.

Mine has unfortunately shipped, I hope you changed you methods before you you let it ship freight across country.

fingers crossed
I reinforced your ends quite well this time around.

It should be okay.....don't understand it....this method worked well before after having issues the first time around.

I guess this is why I hate shipping large items.

Let me know if it's damaged.

I will take care of anyone that has shipping issues.

I'm really sorry for the trouble this has caused TheEvilOne and any other individuals.

Rest asure I will not leave anyone hanging.

Glad it made it okay....please wax the end and reassess.

Not a problem...think of it as growing pains. We just need to brainstorm ways to protect the contents better....especially when we start getting the CF hatches produced/shipped

I think the foam-rolled & tape-bound corner idea is pretty good. If you get it really dense in that area, the corner of the hood should be well insulated. I don't know how to describe this with words...if you need a pic let me know.

don't sweat it JDP. you make the best hoods imaginable. just shitty that your beautifully crafted pieces of automotive "fine art" has to travel thru the ugly rough and tumble roads of bad ass handlers who cant read "FRAGILE"... still got faith they'll eventually come out mint.!

Yeah, I don't think anyone is upset with you personally...I sense more anxiety/frustration, as in "I can't wait to finally get this beee-yutiful hood all up on my Fit!"

Sorry for the rather long wait to reply but I was out for the long weekend.

Here's what I figured out when assessing the damages on my hood and commenting on poor packaging... the two end points of the hood should not carry the weight of the entire hood. The end points should be supported to suspend and not hit anything or as BND states "coning" it.

I have nothing against JDP, it's a nice hood and I just hate to see it get ruined in transit. It's a waste of time on both party and of course, money and effort.

I'm not in a hurry to get my hood... all I'm concerned now is to get it in perfect condition even if I have to wait for another week or two.

Again, nothing against JDP. They conceived one sick hood and I can't wait to rock them on

So I surveyed the damage....

I agree with Evil above....the simplest most cost effective solution would be to use more foam around the edges and CONE THE CORNERS WITH LAYERS AND LAYERS OF TAPE AND PLASTIC. This is obviously the most vulnerable surface of the hood during transport.

JDP, lemme know when you are able to ship out a replacement...

those end tips can not carry the weight of the entire hood and should be, IMO, suspended to protect.

sample illustration to describe my idea:

not might be the best option but it will protect the part concerned...

Hate to steal evilone's thunder...

Thoughts and comments:

The quality is definitely up there. I can still smell the resin, haha. Not sure you could ask for more from a small co. like JDP. I had to slightly cut the rubber stoppers to get the hood to close, no big deal, just a heads up. Fitment is pretty good. A slight gap on the left side of the hood when looking straight on, but not noticeable unless you're really looking for it.

I just weighed the custom JDP vented hood at the UPS store and it weighs 12.6 lbs.

Fit09, will you please weigh the metal OEM hood? Photo on digital scales would be great and I will add it to the ***Official GE parts weight*** thread.

I had the chance to take of the stock hood... the JDP is definitely lighter. Should have weighed the stock hood before putting it back.

BND, installed the PRM already?

LOL I'm used to "forever"... I'm almost in my 3rd month waiting for my WORK wheels and I just placed more orders for some J's Racing parts and FEELS for another 2-3 months wait hahaha

Can't wait to see the final product on those mirrors...

D@mn son, work wheels...ballin'!!! I almost went with Advans over the Enkeis, but I couldn't wait for 4 weeks!

What other parts did you order? I just ordered some front bumper winglets, but I don't expect those to arrive for another week

After these parts come in, I'm gonna turn my focus onto building my civic (see link in my sig) until we get more signed on for the hatch..
