Mileage reports: Manual transmission (5MT)
well as I figured close to 50mpg but the actual was:
428.5 miles at 8.6 gallons of fuel used for $3.75/gallon = 49.8mpg
and too much damn $$$ on gas!
This was at a different gas station called "GATE" and I will fill up at this gas station next time to see if there is a difference.

Gas is now $3.879 in this area. Costco brand
Had to see now rather and see a big +400 mile run and as I thought no 50mpg, but I knew that because I have a SG and it was telling my all along it was 46 for the tank. That's 2 better than normal.
353miles 7.268 gal
just for Shawn I recorded the 1st cut off quanity and that was like always a tad less or 7.047 gal, but to use that now would be stupid and just throw off this entry. less than a qt
Again I fill at Med speed. Way better for a consistant fill.
The reason the SG was 2mpg less was it had know idea when I had the eng off and coasted
This was 80% freeway 1 sec drafting 55 to 65 mph
maybe 60 miles with A/C
48.56mpg

Go ahead and get that MPG!!!
So, if you do it by my calculations you get 50.4mpg.........mine is better!
What is your SG saying when you are drafting at 60mph using A/C?
So, now the question becomes can someone make it to 60mpg???
I know it is getting to hot for me to make it to 60mpg..........I am already driving 50mph in 60mph zone and I still had to use the damn A/C today!

what speed do you pump at?
what is your fuel gauge pointed at when you see the E light
I have only had the gas light come on a few times and haven't really paid attention to the position. I have to get gas so I won't be stranded between the city that I work in vs. the city that I live in.
As far as pumping I use the lowest pump speed if there is a device to support the trigger of the pump handle otherwise I hold the trigger halfway or so it pumps 0.1 gallons per second or less.

Take some notes this fill from the trip odometer.
Miles at "E" line
miles at "1/2" line.
Miles at E light
thanks
I'll have to look at the flow on the pump next time
.1gal per sec hmmm
Seems like you drive a great deal. How many miles per week?
Can you describe you normal commute.
MPH max and avg
% city/ freeways and in miles
Looking at you last 49 fill compared to the 55 are you sure the 55 was how you drove or how the tank filled up? I know you used a different gas pump/station this last time.

My trip to work is 59 miles, some times I drive about 5-10miles at lunch time to get lunch or go to a park to run. Some times I have to run other errands for work as well. So, the drive home is 59 miles as well. At a minimum, I do ~120miles a day. Since I filled up on gas yesterday I have driven 66.6 miles and the fuel gauge is on the left side of the Full line.(I filled up in the town I work in)
Now, for the last tank I traveled about 20% of the time on the interstate/highway. The last tank consisted of me driving to work(Sumter,SC), then home(Lexington,SC), then to work, then to a conference in Charleston, SC(which was about 90% interstate and 91.8 miles), to corporate office(about 12miles city traffic) then home(again 90% interstate and 105 miles), then to work. On this trip to and from Charleston I did draft semis going 60-80mph using A/C which is why I expected a decrease in mpg. I did not draft the entire trip maybe 50% of it.
My drive to work is about 35% city traffic and 65% highway of 60mph with a stretch of 10miles at 65mph which I now travel at 50-55mph. Lately, I have been driving 50mph in the 60 unless I decide to do some pulse and gliding where I will actually pulse up to 70mph and glide down to 50mph. The city driving consists of speeds of 30-45mph with an average of 40mph. I think I stated earlier I encounter about 25 stop lights and 3 stop signs on my drive to work and about 25 stop light and 1 stop sign on my way home. However, I usually do not come to a full stop at the stop signs.

Just got back from a kayaking trip with the Fit......so driving with a kayak on top, and running AC.....got 36.7 mpg. That was only over 171 miles, but still not bad. Mostly 2-lane country driving...around 55-60 mph.
I drive about 50% highway (to school) and 50% city (to chill) and I average at about 32 mpg. My best take was around 41 mpg and that was a trip with 4 people in the car going a consistent 80mph. I just realized that, that wasn't bad at all.
38.27 Mpg!
My first tank at learning to drive better! I got 38.27 miles per gallon. I still have difficult time now and then at timing the lights.
It would really make my day to get 40mpg so I have a couple of questions if you don't mind.
When you are coasting and you are about 5 under the speed limit, the green light ahead is getting stale with the cross walk light counting down, do you gas it a little to make it or just go ahead and stop?
When you are starting from a dead stop at a light do you wait a couple of seconds for the guy ahead of you to go and create a bigger gap ahead of you? It seems that going slightly slower or along with the pace that traffic is moving you can get the lights.
On the interstate, however, I'm going under the speed limit. I see so many people passing by and I'm thinking. "If you only knew".

Yeap, I did it! a 40.8 mpg average going back & forth to work. I fill the car "to the rim" (yes I know, but I do it anyway
) so I always know I have a full tank whenever I get done putting gas in.
My commute is 30 - 32 miles one way (65 miles per day average) at speeds ranging from 5 mph to 65-70 mph.
I did a lot of coasting by putting the car in neutral, and turned it off a few times at some long stop lights. I also used the cruise control whenever possible on my commute to work. I live in the Washington D.C. metro area and drive 15 miles on I-270 & 15 miles on I-495, the "beltway" around Washington.
So, I'm hoping to get as good this time, I have over 270 miles on it and the needle is still way above the half tank mark. I had 300 miles even when it hit the half a tank last time.
Fits are GREAT

Rdean: Something isn't adding up there. if you are around 300 at the halfway slash, then you'd be near 550 miles at 1/8th. Which means you'd be WELL over 50 MPG.
My last tank was 50.1 MPG and I crossed the half at about 245.

one day data from SG
Was looking at my to work commute today after I arived. Same as always but did not have the normal drop the kid off and scholl bus stop side trip.
Here's what SG said
23.1mi
0.5gal
45.7mpg
44mph avg
68mpg max
0.5hr
NO A/C
I'm going to start recording this for a while

First two road trips w/ the SG in the last week. Fillup average mpg 41.0, 38.2, 40.7, and 38.1 over a total 1,090 miles. No AC, almost all highway, a few patches with moderate traffic. I was able to do better in the traffic areas than on wide open highway where I was not always able to find a semi to hide behind...or they were not going at a reasonable speed. When I did have those few opportunities, realtime mileage was reporting consistently in the 50s. Nice! Now, if only I could get my city to remove the stop signs every block or two. Think what replacing 4way stops with 1 direction stops, yields, or roundabouts could do for our country's fuel consumption. Wooh!
I saw 270miles at the 1/2 mark in mine last week and that was only 48.5mpg
