You guys are doing better then me... I've averaging about 29mpg or so mixed. Just rolled over 2K miles, so still fairly new.

I did do some P&G on the way in to work this morning, and averaged 39.6 mpg

 

2000 miles so far in 6 weeks and average of 7 fill ups is 35.25 MPG. 08 FS MT SSM. This is in a mix of highway and commute driving. My commute is very short at only 2.2 miles one way and I am getting 36 or 31 mpgs on those fill ups. Mostly spirited driving but I do find the easier I am on the pedal the mpgs go up quite a bit.
I look forward to better mileage as the car gets some more miles on it. What a great car!!

 

almost 2000 miles, and last tank was 36.6 mostly freeway with a/c. gauge is dropping faster this tank, but still pleasantly shocked at the #'s this thing is getting on such a new motor.

With a 22 mile commute in L.A. traffic (Glendale to Northridge), I got 44.4mpg on this tank! The previous tank was good, too, at 42mpg. Both times I filled up, I went 3 clicks past the auto-shutoff, so I'm being consistent there.

I'm upshifting at right around 2000 rpm, and keeping my speed between 50 and 60 on the freeway (when traffic permits me to go that fast; this is L.A.). I also draft 1 second when possible.

I'm happy with this car!

That much extra will hurt part of you car.
I'd limit it to no more than 1 or better yet none. Nice millage

 

I agree that I shouldn't be doing that on a regular basis. I'm just putting as much in as I can to make sure I'm not shorting the fill to artificially improve the mileage. Once I have established my baseline for driving behavior, I'll let it go to the first click and stop. You make an excellent point!

2007 NHBP Fit 5MT purchased 6/07 15k miles worst tank was 27 (playing with vtec!) and best was 40 (sustained highway driving at 65-70mph) Last tank: mixed in-town and highway, shifting @3k, got me 37.6mpg. The car seems sensitive to both rpms and rate of acceleration - let it go the way it wants to and your mileage will be fine, push it harder and its still slow, just less efficient...

 

Wow. I have a really heavy foot, so I average 28.4mpg. I fill up after the light goes on, and the car tops off at about 9.3 U.S. gallons. I think on average I get 272 miles on a tank. Of course I shift at about 5000 RPMs.
I did make it from Orange County, Ca. to Las Vegas on less than a tank of gas.. but that's only about 280 miles away and all highway.

What I would really like to know is where is everyone filling up? I always always always go to Chevron. It'd be very interesting to see if different companies differ on average mpg.

 

Having fun driving my new Storm Silver Fit. I've gone through a couple of tanks now; got a 'full tank' from the dealer, and waited to start figuring mileage until after I filled it the first time.
1st Check: 29MPG - City with one short highway trip
2nd Check: 34MPG - highway @75-80, with a little in town
3rd Check: 39MPG - highway, @75, three people, with a headwind and A/C on the return leg!

Wow! If I drive with a light foot on a long trip, it may look really good. Course, my '89 Honda Civic 4Door was getting 35-37MPG. It was time to retire that one-owner car though. <grin>

ok i bought a 2008 civic lx in january and have averaged 36-37 mpg for many many tanks of gas, and this is mixed hwy/cty
since i got the car, my wife has LIKED it. so we are considering buying her a civic, or me giving her mine and me getting a FIT-- i was torn when i bought the civic, cause i like BOTH the civic and the FIT
but ya'll mpg don't look much better than my civic, i was hoping it was a little better!?!?!?! what to do!!!???/

(1) Downhill with the car in neutral; or (2) a dreamscape.

 

If I pulse and glide the entire way the 160 mile round trip to the parents is good for 60+ MPG.

Oh and fix your sig... on cleanmpg you need to enter the 2007 EPA numbers (33/38) for your fit. When you enter 2008 or greater for the year the calculations are different as far as the percentages.

 

I went over that with him and he said he does not have the time to enter the fills on the clean web site. I also noticed the sign is not linked like ours. It's an image of something. Looking at the clean site with just the one fill, it looks like what you would see with a cherry picked one like that 53 I saw a few moths ago. O well it's a free world.

Not sure if your kidding with the word finally. No matter at 42.4 true avg with over 4000 miles in the data I'm at maybe 3 sigma looking at the MT pole as population and way beyond the normal capability of a MT Fit. Have you seen the poll on here?

Not trying to start anything, just wondering about the choice of words.. I work pretty hard at the results I have.

 

New update for the latest fill up:
That's five 40+ mpg tanks in a row now. This was the second full tank after the oil change and I was able to drive optimally (55 to 65 mph driving speeds, coasting down hills, drafting semi-trucks, no warm up, no cool down) for the entire tank full. I'm chalking the extra 1.5 mpg up to that. I still filled up one click past the shut off.

Just adding up the total gallons and miles gives: 189.9180 gallons over 7104.1 equals 37.40614 miles per gallon.

Finding the mean mpg of the fillups listed above gives 37.38046 mpg with an error on the mean of 0.5797766.

Either way it looks like the lifetime average for my Fit is 37.4+-0.6 mpg.

I just registered at CleanMPG.com (or whatever it's called) and will be filling in the data there as well.

Looking at the mpg my fit has been getting as a function of the date of the fill up, there's still a nice linear upward trend. I know it's not real, that the linearity will end soon, but it's nice to look at. I'll try to get some figures up and posted here soon.

 

See if you can back fit the fills you have on the Clean-MPG site. Let me know if you need any help adding the link to your performance. Ones you do it it's a link and will update to match your current avg.

 

you will be proud of me, I updated my mileage at cleanmpg that I have posted on here and the link in the signature as well.

Now, I think I will use 0w20 instead of 5w20, assuming wal-mart will swap oil with me.

PS 0W-20. Why would you take that chance? The Honda Owner's manual on mine says 5W-20 with no other option and man o man 5W-20 is like 3 n 1 oil, as far as I'm concerned.
