Just got a new tank done, so this is the 4th fill up. I have just over 1000 miles overall. 31.2 mpg on this tank with a lot more city driving than highway. So, considering the last 3 tanks, not including the dealer tank, I've averaged 33.3 mpg. Not too shabby, especially with running the A/C as often as I do and for a lot of city driving.

most recent tank, 346.1 miles, 8.703 gallons 39.767mpg. Florida flatlander MT basic 6000 and a bit miles, 70% highway rest suburban with some stop and go. Driving very sensibly but not slowly, speed limit + 10%. A/C all the time but after cool down fan 1 sometimes with the thermostat backed off. Ambient temps here in the high 80's / low 90's. This is the tank after my 600 mile wild dash to S. Florida and back with a 72mph average speed. Maybe the motor is finally broken in.

I baby it big time too. When my boyfriend drives it, I'm LUCKY to get 30 mpg. I think he gets it from driving his tC.
To go into my ride more. I live in Gainesville, Ga, which has a lot of the rolling foothills. Lots of turning and going up and down. In the city, there is some stop and go...but not a WHOLE lot unless I go into Cumming. Cumming is stop and go all the time. My boyfriend lives in Atlanta. We travel around in my car when I'm down there because of my MPG compared to his in his 2006 Scion tC. Atlanta, for those who have been there, know that traffic and be hell and once you get into mid-town/downtown....lights every block and lots of stupid people cutting you off.

I'm guessing I just get as good of gas milage because I baby it.

But I really don't know I just hit 5,500 miles on it and I got the oil changed at 40%.

I have a new record.... 36.5 mpg 85% rurel/city driving. wow! I drove 300miles this time. Usually I fill up at half a tank full. I think I am on my way to getting 40mpg on the hwy what do you think about that.

just got through my first tank. Drove 80% around our local mall area, a lot of stop and go. My wife is learning to drive a manual, so we spent 2-3 hours in a parking lot over the past week. I also watched 40 minutes of Lord of the Rings (in refresh mode) while the car idled. Plenty of A/C usage and I still rocked 27 MPG...not bad.

Here's another update. I just filled up 294.6 miles, 8.145 gallons = 36.19 mpg. That's driving on mostly highway, with A/C 100% of the time, from San Diego to Moreno Valley on Friday and in the 91 freeway traffic yesterday back and forth from Moreno Valley, CA to Buena Park.

I'll keep reporting back, just for the sake of having data. BTW, I have a manual and I have 1456 miles on the car at fill up.

Thumbs up Another Tank: 38.805 MPG / Overall Average: 36.974 MPG

I filled up a little early this week because I'm going to top off again before I leave on a road trip this Friday morning for the holiday weekend.

Miles: 275.4
Gallons: 7.10
-----------------
= 38.805 MPG
a/c use: 70%
city/hwy: 50%/50%

What surprises me about this tank is that it includes my weekend driving which is several short trips around town. I also used the a/c a lot more and even one morning I drove it pretty hard with some redline shifts (which I don't usually do).

I really expected mileage to be in the low 30's. This is shocking. I'm using my Scangauge more unconsciously. It's teaching me how to drive the Fit more efficiently. One big change in my driving is that I'm pressing the accelerator much more lightly and I back off of it as soon as I get to the speed I want.

My all-time overall average is coming up to the top of the Fit's EPA highway rating, and it includes a/c use, city driving, and some hard acceleration.

But the biggest thing I am noticiing is that my monthly average MPG (since May 13th when I brought her home) has really climbed. It is now 38.744 for the whole month of August. That is about a 2.5 MPG increase since I got the Scangauge and tire pressure gauge.

Here are the details for August:

MILES GALS MPG
--------------------------------
358.50 9.50 37.72
106.00 3.60 29.47
285.30 6.46 44.18
351.60 9.27 37.94
107.30 3.22 33.34
325.90 7.58 43.01
275.40 7.10 38.81
--------------------------------
1810.0 46.7 38.744 <<-- August Totals and AVERAGE MPG

One thing you'll notice is that early fillups of only a few gallons do not yield consistent results. I always get my gas at Costco and put the pump on lock and let it shutoff automatically. Refilling a tank that's more than half full probably allows more gas to be pumped in before the auto-shutoff kicks in, so there is a lower MPG. The following tank is in essence a little more topped off than usual, so it yields a higher MPG. But the important thing is the overall average, which over many tanks has been consistently good and that average has been increasing.

Just filled up since gas is 2.91 today and got these numbers:

172.4 miles traveled/5.309 = 32.52 mpg.

I travelled about 50% highway, 50% city with the A/C on 100% of the time. Not too shabby still. Brings my MPG average down a little bit, but I'm satisfied.

Here's another update for me for referencing. I filled up today with 278.4 miles divided by 7.760 gallons used = 35.88 mpg. I drove the first 200 miles highway, and the rest was a lot of stop and go and city miles with A/C being on all the time. I plan on taking a trip to AZ with the Fit next weekend, so I'll be able to stretch the legs out and see what it can do for an entire highway trip.

Hello I just finished a road trip of 256.7 miles with 6.6 gallons of fuel used.
On this trip I drove 60 to 80 mph with three people in the car. The estimated passenger weight is someplace over 300 pounds. there was not much wind to speak of tand the remperature was in the 60 d farrenheit area. The math works out to be 38.89 mpg. I think that is good actually a new record because the variables are different then before. My best record with out two additional passengers is 46.4 mpg. I am begining to beleave this is a car that gets 40 mpg on the hwy... My previous mpg checks read 34.35mpg with 178.3 miles driven and 5.19 gallons of gas previous to that is 31.52 mpg with 150.7 miles 4.78 gallons of gas. These last two are around town driving and to work. My drive to work is a 3 mile drive each way. I know I should be riding the bike to work... I ve noticed on these post people make the mpg increases.
Well tell me what you think. I know there are sceptics as was I.

Talking Another fillup: 39.982 MPG / Lifetime Average: 37.512 MPG

My tank Friday represents just another week of normal driving.

a/c use: 50%
City/Hwy: 30%/70%
Highway speed: 65-70 MPH
Driver only, no cargo

I had my first oil change at the Honda dealer. The maintenance screen is nice. It reminds us to take care of our Fit.

This is a great car.

I'm impressed. I'm sitting here in Phoenix, AZ this morning to report back my mileage on the way here. I filled up in Point Loma, CA and drove all the way from San Diego to Phoenix. The gas light barely came on and here are the results: 363.2 miles travelled/8.961 used = 40.53 MPG! As amazed as I should be, I also need to report the last fill up. I only drove 60.4 miles/2.782 used = 21.71 MPG! That tank was ALL city, A/C on all the time. I was kinda disappointed, but I realized how drastic this car drives when you compare city and highway. It IS possible to get great gas mileage, but I'm very weary on the way it drives all city driving. I'm lucky I don't have that kind of drive all the time.

Last two tanks on the trip:

167.4 miles/5.149 used = 32.51 mpg
201.4/4.945 used = 40.73 mpg

The first tank was driving around Phoenix with a lot of mixed driving. The second tank was from Chandler to Yuma. I'm pretty happy. I know there is a lot of challenges making sure the exact readings are done accurately, but from what I'm figuring, I'm doing really good, especially highway.

At the risk of being stabbed by iismileyll and others who are frustrated by fuel-hungry Fits, I am pleased to report that in the first four fillups so far I have achieved the following mpgs:
36.36, 36.25, 40 and 40. 1300+ miles on the vehicle.

I have a base MT. Up to this point, AC has been on almost all the time here in Central TX. Only in the last few days has it been cool enough to turn off AC.

I'm not a granny but I drive like one. I live in a rural area so drive many highway miles but I keep it down around 60, drive in highest gear possible and coast in neutral every chance I get. I also pretend there is a raw egg between my foot and the gas or brake pedal, producing VERY gentle starts and stops.

When I venture into Austin and deal with city drive style, I well understand how folks who drive mostly urban areas have tougher time achieving high mpg. The mpgs above include two episodes of interstate gridlock lasting about 10 minutes each. One each occurred on the 40 mpg tanks.

I am grateful that I have not had mpg problems like some folks, and I add my story and circumstances to the pile of statistics in the hope that Honda can get to the bottom of this strange and troubling spread in mpg performance demonstrated by many of the folks in this forum.

Thumbs up I can't get bad gas mileage, even when I try!

My last 2 tanks have been lower than my recent road trip (which was 45.063 MPG and 39.062 MPG) but still not bad overall.

LAST
Miles: 328.3
Gallons: 8.5
MPG: 38.583
City/Hwy: 50%/50%
a/c use: 60%

PREVIOUS
Miles: 291.7
Gallons: 7.7
MPG: 37.682
City/Hwy: 40%/60%
a/c use: 60%

What surprises me is that now I'm driving it harder and accelerating way faster than normal, but it does not impact my MPGs as much as I thought it would. Almost every day I do a few redline shifts now that my Fit is fully broken in.

I recently had an oil change and I notice that the Scangauge is showing much higher mileage in routine driving than it did before. After this tank I'm going back to super-frugal driving and see what it does.

By the way, my lifetime average continues to climb. It is now at 37.565 MPG in about 4 months of driving (since 5/15/2006).

With me road trips with or w/o AC are ok on the Fit and the gas milage. It is the mixed driving that kills the milage with the somewhat underpowered Fit. A couple of tanks ago with the hot weather it was down to 24.7 mpg mixed driving with AC. Maybe I ought to get the AC checked & see if it was charged enough huh?
