Mileage reports: Manual transmission (5MT)
Sorry big guy, I forgot if you have MT or AT Sport, but with the paddle shifters you cannot shift gear under 3K rpms unless you want to reach 40 mph in a century, same doing the open road, at 75 mph cruising speed and the rpm is at or over 3K rpms... but if you're 80 yo probably doing 40 mph all the time and for sure the rpm will always be under 2500

on the lighter side of things, another fit owner who went to the dealership to try and return his car because he was unhappy with the gas mileage reported that his mpg shot up by about 5 mpg when his car hit 5K miles and finally became happy with it. I waited to hit that mark, surpassed it, and still no change.
I just got my first tank over 40!! woot!
It was 40.26 to be exact. it actually kind of sucks because I had surgery last week so I wasn't even driving the car for about half the tank while other people took me to/from the hospital and my doctor's for a checkup. Just for comparison I normally get 37-39.

So did I -- 612km with 34.12L, which works out to 42 miles for each of your puny US gallons. My previous best tanks were 39mpg before winter set in.
Driving style matters!
On my base MT I have been getting a solid 40mpg average for a while--car now has 11K mi on it. On recent road trip (1600 miles), I shared driving with my leadfoot husband (who ordinarily never drives the Fit). Got the worst mileage ever, 33mpg, on one tank of the trip. Granted, we had headwind issues as well, but this proved to me definitively that driving style is a HUGE factor in the mpg performance of this great little car.
I would bet that anyone could learn how to drive more efficiently, but it would be helpful to have a scan gauge (or whatever they are called), that provides instant feedback of mpg usage, as a behavior modification tool.
We are entering hurricane season at $3/gallon for regular gas, and the roads here in central TX are still gridlocked with unending lines of gas pig SUVs, each with exactly one human inside them, so I guess fuel prices have not risen to the point of changing our driving habits too much. Another slam on the coastal refineries and we'll be weeping about $4, $5 or even $6/gal gas. It is time we learned to squeeze every last mile out of those precious gallons!

Anybody else really like the line from "Over the Hedge" about SUV's
RJ: That is an S.U.V; Humans ride in then because they are slowly losing their ability to walk.
Penny: Jeepers, its so big!
Lou: How many humans fit in there?
RJ: Usually, one.
But seriously, I am excited because I just got 41.2 mpg- all highway with hills about 50% of the trip and AC. This car is AWESOME! It gets better gas mileage than my 91 and has 50% more power!

MT gas mileage
I have filled up 4 times now with my fit. 1st tank got 37.7, 2nd tank got 36.6, and same with the 3rd. Drove a little more highway on the 4th and ended up with 38.3. Usually, I'm doing 50/50 split of city/highway. So far I love this car!
One thing that I have noticed is that when filling up is that the car acts like it's full when it's not. I have been able to get at least another gallon or so in the car after the pump shuts off. The day after I got the car, the gauge showed just a hair under FULL. I went and put gas in really slow and got 3.5 gallons into the car. Anyone else notice this?
