man the ziex912's suck in the cold and wet. can make the tires spin
in 2nd gear doing a quick manuver. lol
definitely getting something better next time around.

i got about 10,400+ miles as of this morning. so, basically it is in-line
with the 5yrs or 50k miles before i trade it in for something else plan.
this is the first winter with the EnduraTechs in cold weather.
this morning it was about 20F outside, maybe 15F dont' know due to
no temp gauge... (see wat i mean about the inconvenience of not
having a temp gauge standard on a car?)
The ride was slightly stiffer than usual, but not bad at all. no werd
noises of any sort, no clunking, squeaks, etc. very reliable coilovers
so far.

pulled out my FitS this am to motor in the 2F weather. the drive was nice.
went over some pretty rough RR crossings but no issue with the EnduraTechs
in these temps.
wish i could give my car a wash, but it's going to be off/on rain/freezingrain/snow
the next 2 weeks on a daily basis so might not happen for a while...

Rear Wheels for comparison:
Front Wheels:
Yes, they're the same type of Rotas. The acceleration/lateral Gs + extreme heat from the brakes apparently caused it.

yesterday i hit a pot hole and i thought my DR21's cracked. it didn't but
ive seen these cheeze arse wheels shatter (yes shatter) instead of bending
from impact. the ones ive seen looked like fine china dropped onto a floor.
but for the most part i think we're okay...

well made it home in one piece in the heavy snow. it was super slick in
some areas but the FitS did pretty well. due to its lightness it becomes
a disadvantage.
the ziex 912 tires sucked big time as usual, but with shifting @1800rpm
way before the torque band kept the wheels from spinning. kinda like this:
from a deadstop, 1st gear very light to no throttle, clutch-out, let car
move 2-3 ft, then shift into 2nd. zero throttle let out clutch slow so
the car can build up speed from just idling, then gently apply gas to
1800rpm, shift into 3rd.
from there 3rd or 4th gear i can go up to 38mph pretty safely. i wouldnt
go any faster than 40mph as ive had experice on several cars where the
car just suddenly lost control. it's from the road bumps, etc where the
COG shifts around a little and causes the tires to loose grip.
if the car starts slipping basically let off the pedals and try to regain
control with just your steering. if you can get the car to point in
the direction you want to go, gently apply gas or brake.
worst case (last resort) i have my hand on the e-brake to slide
sideways. it helps the car slowdown and change direction but you
could end up getting stuck in snow. it's like ok, you missed the
light pole, but now you're in someone's yard stuck. lol
anyway, best approach would be to run snow tires in these conditions
but 99% of the folks out there are running a/s tires and some are running
crappier tires than the 912's... so it can be done if you're careful.
forget about going somewhere on time. concentrate on just getting there
without hitting (or getting hit).

wife said something funny yesterday.. she said she wants to get
snow tires on my legacywgn (awd). it's running fairly new a/s
tires YokAvid's which are pretty damn good in the snow + awd,
it's like 100x better than wat my FitS does in the snow with its
junk tires. hahaha told her to slow down. awd gives
false sense of security...especially during braking.

just head up (not really north) you guys have plenty of snow in the monutains.
been a nice day today. just dry. no additional snow, not too much ice left (black ice).
when you sprinkle salt on the remaining snow on the driveway, it melts and just
evaporates. that kinda tells you how dry our air is in the winter.

Yeah i have to head east a couple hours and theres some serious snow! I dont think i could though becuase my car is too low. My lip is about 2 inches off the ground. And i dont think id be able to get chains on my tires due to tucking heh.
I think we are taking my friends Escalade up there in January, its a 4wd and handles things well. I drove up there in it once last year, no probs although roads were clear of snow. We always snow drift in parking lots! Its sooooo fun

yah, you will want to be no more than 1" from stock height when
running chains. and it needs to be stock wheels/tires like you have.
there's a reason why manufacturer's use these tucked narrow wheels/tires
on most cars... chains.

i saw on weatherchannel that we might be up in the 40F's on sunday
so if that happens, im going to wash my FitS.
thing is so dirtified by salt it's embarrassing to see... the megan axleback
was showing some brown-ish spots on the tip so im hoping it's not rust.
(it's suppose to be stainless).

too much windage tomorrow.... no wash. hope to have a better window
soon. got winds of 25-30 gusting to 40mph. like wet sanding with crap
in the washmitt, water droplets.
it's been raining off/on so i think that's at least better than nothing to
dissolve some of the salt on the car.
