not at all. the 2006 civic is an excellent car. digital dash, better equipped, more hp, better crash ratings.

i was pretty much sold on the fit until i test drove an 06 civic. the civic's increase in power (merging on freeways, overtaking, etc) is major. the civic also has less road noise.

I'm going to go ahead and get a Mazda 3 hatch/sedan(undecided yet) and wait for the new revised 2008 Fit's to surface or just wait for supply to catch up with demand...bugger guys. I was really banking on getting one of these sweet cars. I'll just have to wait I suppose...since it's damn near impossible to get one around here.
i test drove a mazda3 and a 2006 civic back to back, as i was interested in the mazda3.

there is no comparison. the civic is a much better car for the money.

Very nice photo shoot! The lighting, backdrop & angles made your photos fit for a Fit brochure.

I'm cheering for those of you who finally got your Fits and hoping that those of you still (im)patiently waiting will find one. At the time I bought mine, sight unseen, weeks before it actually arrived, it seemed like an off-the-wall way to buy a car, but I had no choice -- my 11 year old Accord had given out. It was either buy something else or wait for a Fit. I was making do with a borrowed car and rentals, until the dealership loaned a CR-V for the final 2 days until official release of my Fit. It was this forum that kept me going through those last few weeks -- knowing that the Fit would be in limited supply and well worth the wait. I was behind a Yaris at a parking lot exit yesterday and it didn't appeal to me at all. The elderly fellow driving moved incredibly slowly across 3 lanes of traffic into a left turn lane, putting me in jeopardy from oncoming traffic. I zipped by in my Fit as soon as I could, thinking that his Yaris may never know what it's like to drive at the speed limit, even when it's only 35! I understand the Yaris is still on the old Echo frame -- true?

Thank you! Thank my hubby too..the ever patient one! I told him I wanted to get out in the trees because green would make the orange colour really pop! I think it definitely did! I actually really like the pictures with the lake in the background!

Upgrading to sport !!!

Some news on my waiting story!!! Yesterday i got a call from the dealer telling me that my LX Fit, that was suppose to arrive before june 15th, would not be there before july or even August !!! It's due to the fact that they don't know exactly what they are getting in their lot of Fit. He also told me that i was the third on the list for a Storm Sliver LX MT.
But i had a option. I could get an AT LX or a sport MT but in a different color (red or silver). So with a little rebate on the silver sport i went for it and my car is going to be here anytime from now to june 14th....FINALLY
I was a bit pissed off at first but now i am happy to get a sport Fit

So i'll post as soon as i get it !!!

This is really just a bump. I still don't have mine. Estimated date = June 18th. Counting down. Have Vacation planned for the 19th of June so I hope it comes early. If not it will be waiting on me when I get back. Would like to drive it on my trip.

The dealer called to give me more info on my Fit and take my deposit. Taffeta White Sport w/ AT and black interior. Production started on 5/25 and I should get it before the end of this month. MSRP also. Can't wait.

I am paying MSRP on a white sport auto with beige interior. Build date was May 18th. When I was told I could wait on this one with beige interior I kinda thought that the beige in a sport will be less common than the black interior in a sport and it will be a lighter color and will help with the heat which is the reason I like white cars. I told my sales lady that would be good but if she can trade for one with the black interior I would like that too if I get my Fit sooner.

Supply<Demand=Suck. Contrats to all who are driving Fits!

After calling all over the Northwest, I went to a Jay Lee's Honda near Portland because the sales guy said they'd have unclaimed Fit AT Sports "within a couple of days, maybe tomorrow." That was May 22nd. When I asked if they were really getting them that fast, the manager said "10 days max." Well, that's a bit of a jump from "a couple" but still two weeks shorter than other dealers in the area. So, because I am impatient, I agreed to pay $1000 over MSRP for the convenience of having the car sooner than later (they wanted $1500-$2000 over).

Ten days max would have had the car delivered Friday the 2nd. No such luck. It didn't help that when they could track the car, is was found in Seattle (which is -not- on the way to Portland from California). Now, though, they are "sure" that the car will be available "this week," or maybe next Monday the 12th at the latest.

Since they'd over promised/under delivered and I've been locked into an agreement to prevent shopping around, I asked to renegotiate the price/options. They responded that they could get more for it if they didn't sell to me (true, in this market) so they obviously didn't budge.

So here I am, just like Charlie Brown, hoping that Lucy won't move the football this time.

Unfit,
Lu

Hey Diggitnow, I'm relying on that dealership too. They told me last week it could be up to 5 weeks--I hope that doesn't mean 5 months! They said sport ATs in black and white would be in this week, but I'm holding out for orange. I'll be paying about $1000 over MSRP too...

Do you really need the Fit right away? That $1K just fattens the dealer's pocket. The Fit is a nice car and MSRP is priced right. Anymore, and I would consider another car (e.g Mazda 5 wagon). I could wait until supply meets demand but was lucky to find a dealership selling them for MSRP. Mine won't be in until the end of this month.

Good luck.

<snip>
They said sport ATs in black and white would be in this week, but I'm holding out for orange.
</snip>

They told me (for Sport ATs) that they had a Red (claimed), a Black (mine), and a White (unclaimed, I guess). I hope they really have two Black Sport ATs coming and aren't just telling prospective buyers about mine.

Speaking of ads, they've run ads this weekend and last (in the Oregonian) saying they have Fit's "in stock and available." I brought that up them. They're definition of "in stock and available" is very different than mine.

Local note: I realized at some point that Jay Lee's was formally part of the the PR-and-Legally-embattled Thomason's Auto Group. So it is likely much of the same sales/management winners who worked with Scott Thomason et al.

Soon (well, sooner or later) we'll have cool new Fits, drive them for years, and forget how ridiculous it was trying to buy them.

07Fit00S2K,

Funny you should mention that you "... would consider another car (e.g Mazda 5 wagon)." My other car, Rosie, is an '03 Pro5. I love it. But to buy a new Pro5 (I.E. Mazda 3 Hatchback) would be certainly more than $1000 and more importantly to me, wouldn't have the as good gas mileage. Actually, I looked in depth at many new and used 5-door models. The final three were the Scion A, Mazda 3, and the Fit. In the end, I just "had to have" the Fit.
