I already posted this in the Canadian forums, but maybe more people will see it here...does anyone know if there an actual date across North America each month when every Honda dealership should know what has been allocated to them? And do they know exactly what they're getting at that time, i.e. colour, tranny, model, etc.? Is it at that point that they can reserve them for people?
If so, does anyone know what that date is this month? I feel like my dealership is keeping me in the dark.
Thanks guys/gals.

Here's a long but funny story on how I got my Fit: I did some online research and originally was set to buy the new Toyota Yaris. Then my friend told me to check out the new Honda Fit, which was better and roomier than the Yaris. At the Honda dealership, we checked out a black Fit Sport (which was already sold) on the lot and my wife fell in love with it (me too).Unfortunately, the sales rep had none for sale and didn't know when more would be coming in. He suggested that we put our name on the reservation list with no obligations to buy. However, we decided to wait, in order to save up for a bigger down payment. A week later, we checked out the Toyota dealership; no Yaris's on the lot, but we test drove a new corolla and got close to buying it, but my wife thought it was boring and convinced me to give it up. 2 weeks ago, while driving to pick up the wife from work, my old Toyota began running rough. No acceleration either. Because of it, we decided to put our names down for a Honda Fit. I returned to the Honda dealership on a Saturday morning and all available Fits were sold. The other Honda dealership in town also had sold all of their Fits and didn't know when more would be coming in. For their new inventory incoming, I found out the only available color was Orange in the Sport model (we wanted the silver color Sport model) which was due to arrive in 3 weeks. So I signed up for it after the dealer promised to try to get a switch with other dealers for the color we wanted. As I drove off the lot 2 hours later, my Toyota's engine went on! I then took it to a repair shop and had it checked out. One of the cylinders was leaking oil and going bad, but it was still drivable, but for how long? While the old car was being repaired, in desperation, I thought I better check with one more Honda dealer 20
minutes out of town to see if they might possibly have any Fits on their lot, even though I knew it was a total crap shoot, especially after spending 3 weeks of hitting walls with the local honda dealers. When I got through to the sale department, shockingly, they had 2 Fits on the lot for sale, both which arrived the night before!! One was a silver storm Sport model, the exact color and model we wanted! After talking to the sales rep, we drove there and when we arrived, another couple was wanting to buy it. The dealer was asking $1800 above sticker for it! We managed to test drive it and decided we wanted it, but I was dead set on paying only sticker price for it (since I already had one in reserve at the other dealership). Luckily, the other couple that wanted it was still in decision mode. Finally, after some fast negotiation, we finally got the car for sticker price and drove it home that night. After 3 weeks and one very frantic Saturday, we luckily ended up with the Fit in the color and model we were hoping for!

He also stated that he would get his July list soon and was fairly certain that they would be reserved by people asap. Based on that I would say that in Illinois, at least, the dealers are getting the list apx. 1 month ahead of time. Making a special request for one that is not on there list will more than likely increase the wait time.

Vbp Sport
I bought my VBP Sport AT almost a month ago, but some of the inquiries I made are still following my around.
A salesman just called me from :
Boyte Usry Honda
(601) 591-5000
2188 Highway 18
Brandon, MS 39042
Toll Free: (866) 731-5111
Fax: 601-326-6551
Email: sales@boyteusryhonda.com
They have a VBP Sport (I believe he said it was AT) on the ground, came in last night, not spoken for. Tell them Ray Goodman sent you, and I'll split the bird dog with you.
Good news if you are within driving distance of Jackson, MS.

It's getting close but this wait is killing me. I just saw a review on the new Acura RDX (mini-SUV) and think it's a nice car. If my Fit doesn't get here soon, I may try to get an RDX. However, I'll bet that the RDX will experience the same price markups and waiting periods as the Fit.
Oh boy!! I got my Fit today also. Went to do a sales contract before I left for vacation so that it wouldn't accidently get sold out from under me and it was being prepped for me at the time. My salesperson was there and she told me she was just getting ready to call me. In about an hour and a half I was driving it home. Have 130 miles on it with a little more than half a tank on the guage. Can't wait to fill it myself and check the MPG on my next tank full. I get to take it on my trip also. This was the slickest car deal I have ever made. The only problem was the seven week wait.
