Mazda 3 Hatchback) would be certainly more than $1000 and more importantly to me, wouldn't have the as good gas mileage. Actually, I looked in depth at many new and used 5-door models. The final three were the Scion A, Mazda 3, and the Fit. In the end, I just "had to have" the Fit.
Yep, I was torn between the Mazda 3 and the Fit. ultimately went with the one that had better gas milage aaaaand I got a lot more for my trade at Honda. Oh and the interior of the Mazda 3 is kind of fugly...all that orange...now if the accents would have been blue like the color that I wanted...hmm who knows.

Anywho, LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEE my Fit. love it love it love it!!

Sounds like you living on the West Coast are getting screwed by the Honda Dealers. Here no one that I am aware of is selling over MSRP. I would not buy at 1,000 or more over MSRP, no way.

yes. the mazda3 interior turned me off too. it felt like sitting in a 1980s mattel electronic game. the 2006 civic interior is the complete opposite -- modern and stylish and beautiful.

Well, after a horrible experience trying to get one sooner from an out-of-state dealer, I've got a deposit down on a VBP Sport AT from my local dealer. They were able to find another dealer that was having one built this month and did a trade with them for a silver one also being built this month. It's got a build date of 6/10/2006, so we'll see how long it takes to get here!

We put our names down on a list about three weeks ago, and got a call this Saturday letting us know our Silver Sport AT was being built on the 5th of June. it should get to us around the 1st of July!

I put a deposit down on mine on May 3oth and was told that the shipment (2 fits) will be in at the start of Aug. They told me that the sport auto is in BOM but who knows. I told them that my biggest concern was auto and sport. So we will see.

I'm waiting on a white sport AT that was built on May 18th as well. The dealer's hopeful it'll get here this week or next...
I'm hoping sooner rather than later: the bumper on my old Chrysler got stuck in the sand at the beach and tore off again. I can't wait for my new fit.

When I went to the dealer to buy one, in mid-April, I put a deposit on the next one that was coming in that was a color I could handle. All the dealers around me (I checked with many) were pre-sold completely out except in orange. I wasn't that desperate. I put my deposit down then (mid-april) for a may build date and hopefully a mid-june delivery. I wonder if they knew how popular this car would be when they scaled back production.

You know that it would make sense to make runs of the same color. I bet a run of whites are being made on May 18th. I hope that mine gets to Oklahoma earlier than June 18th which is the latest date I have been told. Shipping schedules could mean that two made on the same day don't get to their dealers/owners within a week or more of the same date. I would bet that even if they knew how popular it would become Honda would still have made the same decision to scale back on the Fit and use the production on the Civic. I read that the Civic sales are up %56. Honda might make more profit on the Civic. That would fall under a good business decision.

I was called by my saleslady today and was told that mine is in the middle of the ocean. She has the VIN and hopefully it will be here soon. Possibly before the 18th.

The Fit is mine! My Black Sport Fit arrived last night and I drove it off the lot today. It was 15 days ago that I put down my deposit... my deposit... Hey, where's my deposit?! I thought that went too smoothly.

OK, I called and they shredded the check. I guess I'll just keep an eye on my online banking for awhile.

Anyway, I'm very happy. The car is great and although they were longer then expected to deliver, it's still just about two weeks from when I went down there.

As I said before, the NW market is really tight and dealer markups are rampant. I paid $1,000 over to get the Fit in two weeks instead of eight. But, as if to make me feel like less of a sucker, they left the window sticker and "supplemental consumer information label" in the car. The SCI label showed the stock number, model, VIN, and then Market Adjustment value of $2,989 (for a total of $19,509)!

So I am in Eugene, and the dealers I have spoken to are telling me 120 days out. I left them a $500 deposit - but I will be getting the car at MSRP - no added markup here in Eugene.

When was your production date and when did you put your deposit down? My production date was 5/11 and I put the deposit down on 5/16. The dealer called me on 6/1 with the VIN and said he anticipates a 6/12 arrival? Does this sound right?
