No problems here as well, seems like in the reer lower portion, they added a single dot of paint to act as a spacer, but it seems crushed onto the body. I know the first thing I'll be doing is loosening up the panel a bit.

Guys, indicate your purchase date, we may be able to find some consistancy here. July 5th 2006 here.

Ah crap.. That is exactly where they dabbed a spot of paint to act as a spacer. I think it is being crushed to the panel and so it starts to crack throughout.

For those who have not had the problem yet, I would recommend removing the panel and grabbing some clear nail polish polish and going over that "dot of paint" a few times to prevent it from further damage. Let the nail polish be the buffer rather than the actual paint iself.

I hope this isnt misread as covering the entire gap while the panel is attached.

I have a Storm Silver Metallic Fit. Picked up on April 26th.

The paint is peeling like others show in 3/4 corners.

Time to call Honda of America and hit the Dealer.

What a bummer

I'm gonna give my dealership a call on Monday and get them to fix it ASAP. Still haven't heard back from them and its been a week.

Glad to hear it's been stickied. Hopefully anyone who has this problem will get it sorted out in no time. I picked up my Fit on April 28.

I bought mines 100 miles away.. any dealership can take care of the issue right? or do u have to go back to the one u bought from? I notice that on one of the corner there seems to be a dab of excess paint that is starting to peel..

Here's my giant question which i do not see addressed yet.. Asumming that they re-paint it.. what if it happens again? You can repaint it all u want.. but it will happen again in another 1000 miles..
go get it done again then?

Since mines isn't too bad yet.. i might just loosen the nuts.. how loose do you loosen it? my bumper isn;t gonna fall off will it? lol

may i know where is the US fits built from?

i've compared the Thai built and JDM built. Thai built in regards to paint is nowhere close to JDM workmanship qualities.

Paint peeling!!!

Is there any chance this may be a production run problem or does it appear to be over the whole range of production #???

okay, i called HOnda and told them the whole situation and gave them this direct discussion web site, hopefully their upper management will do something quick to retify the problem before it get out of hand (like developing spider cracks!!! ) I took mine into the dealership and they couldn't solve it on the spot...they said they need to schedule mine car for the Honda inspector to have have a look since they'll need to repaint the whole bumper and I'm like the first person to complaint about the paint...so I urge everyone to speak up NOW and make the issue heard NOW at dealership level and at Honda...and any temp fixes like losening the bumper won't help in the long run if the paint wasn't applied correctly in the first place...eventually they will flake off!!!

I'm seeing the same issue with my Fit Sport AT. It was purchased on 6/27 and has 1550 miles so far.

Here's a picture of the spot I'm seeing on the passenger side front. Couldn't quite focus my digital camera that close:

Peeling

Boy,

You guys know how to ruin a Monday morning. Just went out and looked, my VBP is peeling on two corners, one front, one rear. I'll post a couple of pictures when I get home to help with the on-line documentation.

Dealer took a look at it and the service manager said they'll do whatever they need to get it fixed. So, I'm dropping it off there next Wednesday for them to do the body work. I'm hoping they'll do both front and rear bumpers to be safe. It'll be done Thursday evening and I'll have a free loaner during that time as well.

Add another one...

Both front sides, nothing on the back yet...but it does feel "mushy".

First I'm calling Honda of America, then a local dealer as I really don't want to drive to Goodson Honda West...takes nearly an hour.
