Paint Peeling from Front Bumper
This turned out kind of blurry. Looked okay on the digital camera screen but of course when I get it on the computer it comes out not as good. You get the idea though. You can see the two big ones easily in the picture. You'd expect following a truck carrying gravel on the highway to cause something like this, not washing bugs off your car. There are tiny ones all the way up the hood as well not visible here.

So, I am back with new info.
I checked recently the paint thickness of my JAZZ/FIT and could notice that it is between 80 and 90 micrometers. Minimum (told by the Honda manager is 80). But I also checked some other cars and they had 130-140 micrometers. Those were european cars.
I also visited the insurance valuer and told him my investigation results. He said that all japanese cars have the same pant issue - I can't tell for sure, its his opinion.
Then I also visited my Honda dealer and there was also the boss of a paint shop (he is official paint job maker for Honda and Mercedes in our town) and I was told, that all new colors really are on water basis and that both, Honda and Mercedes have near the same paint thickness (80 micormeters). I want to chack this. It might be true, if so, then the only problem i that the final paint coating is too thin (color coating).
Thas about it and I really want at least the exposed areas to get fixed. But it is hard so far. I wonder what will come out after winter -> with my hood and front bumper...

If we get ONE email address at American Honda and everyone with the problem send their complaint to it, it would be more affective don't you think? We could then perhaps send our "proof" to the car magazines, Clark Howard, etc. Let's put the pressure on!!

My dealer fixed it, their explanation was that the molds aren't perfect so paint doesn't get enough primer in the creases and the paint isn't sticking very well on the crease so it is easily cracked and chipped...something like that.
I haven't put any spacers in yet..what size did, ya'll that have, use? to space the gap a little.

Our Blackhawk Fit Sport A/T is due to arrive November 6th!! Wooohoooo

I also noticed the front and rear bumpers with the slight peeling problems and called Honda USA to report it and find some resolution with this problem. They replied, saying that it wasn't a problem they knew about and to bring it up with my dealer. Luckily, my dealer has agreed to repaint the bumpers this coming Tuesday with no arguments whatsoever. However, I don't know why Honda corporate hasn't acknowledged this widespread peeling paint problem as one of the problems with the Fit, since so many of you have experienced the same problem. After speaking with Honda USA on the phone, it left a bad taste in my mouth. Whenever I had a problem with my Toyota, Toyota's corporate office would call me promptly to ask about the quality of service and do their best to resolve the problem. To me, Toyota was interested in customer service and satisfaction. On the other, Honda comes across as being simply arrogant and seems to shrug off any responsibility. Although I love my Fit, I'm not crazy about Honda corporate. They seriously need to learn some customer service lessons from their rival, Toyota!
rock chips on hood
Since the first week I've had my taffeta white Fit, tiny chips have appeared on the hood. No bumper problems yet. Finally mentioned this to the dealer today, 6 months and 9,000 miles later. He says they have so few Fits they haven't noticed any problem, but it didn't take more than 5 minutes for him to agree to take care of them. I have a 55 mile daily commute on the Florida Turnpike. Dealer says that any car would get the same chips and that because it's a white car I notice them more...
Couple of questions--does taffeta white have the same clear coat as a metallic color? How long after retouching can you have an invisible bra product installed? Any recommendations for clear protection. I just can't imagine a black bra on this car.
