Paint Peeling from Front Bumper

Couple of questions--does taffeta white have the same clear coat as a metallic color? How long after retouching can you have an invisible bra product installed? Any recommendations for clear protection. I just can't imagine a black bra on this car.

Well the touch up paint instructions say to wait 30 days before waxing the paint. So anytime after waxing it would be a good time to install a clear bra.
As for what clear bra to get. I got the cheap one off eBay and installed it myself to keep costs down. It's not completely clear, it does have a slight tint to it. The 3M is a lot clearer, I used it to do the rear bumper, side sport trim, and where your hand goes into the door handles to help prevent scratches.
If you're going to have it professionally installed I would go with the 3M. You can find the nearest 3M certified installer and more info here http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3..._the/Consumer/.
I love the clear bra. No way I would put a black cloth bra on my white Fit.
There's another brand mentioned in the forum in another thread, but I'm not familiar with it personally. They do say good things about it though. It is more expensive than the 3M from what I read on it, so it depends on how much you're willing to spend and if you plan on installing it yourself or not.
In a few years I'll probably peel mine off and have the 3M professionally installed. But it's fine for me right now and it does the trick. Perhaps with a new paint job. Pearl White would look sharp.

It's common on the Cadillac Escalade and other Cadillacs. I've seen it on lots of vehicles.
Here's a link to White Diamond on the Cadillac site. http://www.cadillac.com/byo/selectCo...wo-Wheel+Drive
If you said White Diamond around here no one would know what you were talking about, but if you call it Pearl White they know just what you're talking about.
I havent had the peeling problems yet and I hope I dont.
I have noticed that the bumpers have VERY soft paint. I put a sticker on my rear bumper yesterday and sorta messed up. Hahaa!
When I went to peel it off my nail left pits and a little chip in the paint. Freakin sucks although its not visible unless youre close.

peeling problem maybe rectified
I just got my NBP FIT Nov 10 and during my walkthrough I looked very closely at the gap between bumper and quarter panel @ each corner and it doesn't look as tight as some of the pics posted from others. I was told it was manufactured on Oct 12th. Anyway with 650 miles I've been watching closely to make sure I don't see any evidence of peeling.
I took mine it last month at 8000K miles and they repainted the fornt bumper with no hassle at all. Pensky Honda in Ontario, CA (Kent Yamamoto is my serv. advisor). However, as i drove off, i noticed the damn windshiled had a crack, called em back and they said since there was no note of it when it came in, they would handle it no problem. Well i took it back Friday (car is now 2 months old and has 17,000miles on it already
, they replaced it no problem (despite being hit by tire tread and shattering 1 week before i went in).

2007 Silver Sport chipping on both sides! I've only had it a month and it was a "Certified Preowned" with 5,500 when I got it, so when I found the chips after a week, I thought that it might have been hit; now I know better! I've also noticed a very slight discoloration on the top of the back bumper, about 4-6 inches in diameter.....hmmmmmm...maybe it's time to call the dealer (Santa Ana Honda....)
?? Why don't you run the VIN number online? you may find out some interesting things... or not

I'm scheduled to take it in next Tuesday for them to repaint the rear bumper and replace the side sport trim (they call it a garnish).
It was in the shop for 1 week and it looks like they did a real good job on it.
Glad to have it back. The loaner was a Dodge Neon with about 24,000 miles on it.
Now I just have to wait about a month before waxing it and putting the paint protection film on again.

Paint Peeling
2007 Red with 2500 miles on it peeling on 3 of 4 corners!!!! Yep, I didn't think it wouuld happen to me, but it has!!! I can't wait to hear from the dealership that they have never heard of this problem before..... Dang shame, because I am otherwise really happy with the car.
Dang, I thought for sure those of us who took receipt of our cars in the last couple of months would dodge this bullet. I figured that they surely had fixed this problem in the production stage. But I just checked your post history and it looks like you've had your Fit less than 2 months.
I'm surprised I haven't had a single peel or ding at 9000 miles and a purchase date of 4/17.
I almost want to believe that the Simoniz Paint Protection treatment that they had applied (which I originally didn't want) has something to do with it.

I have read all this thread and I am wondering if this is a issue with the European Jazz too? I'v getting my NHBP Jazz 1.4 CVT in Feb'07.
Does the paint chip appears on both the basic bumber and the sport bumbers?
And my last question; here in Norway we can't get the Jazz Sport but the sport bumbers will be mounted on the car after it arrives to my Honda dealer.
Can that solve the issue, maybe they dont' make the same mistake as the factory and make it a so tight between the bumber and the fender?
Anyway, I notice my dealer about this problem and get a guaranty from him that it would not happen to my new Jazz.

hey guys etc... I saw a brand new Civic SI at a club meeting yesterday and talked to a couple techs and, yes Honda does have paint probs... the SI that I saw has the same feel to the paint as my FIT... but no visible probs yet... but the guy that is going to have a supercharger installed would probably not have a prob since he would be able to pay for a new paint job anyway... just thought I would mention this...
yep: just turn your head a cough...

i found this topic in a yahoo search, so i thought i'd chime in.
my 2005 acura rsx has this problem as well. I brought the car back to the dealer at 2500 miles, and noted the problem. the car was sent out to the shop to be repaired, and it looked great. However, the problem reoccurs. mine has been fixed 3 times and is once again peeling. the bumpers fit too tight, which causes friction... leading to the peeling paint.

I have the JAZZ sport aswell and no problems regarding the bumper peeling.
So don't worry.
anybody out there?
Hi, new to the forum. Just ordered my fit and came across this thread. AGH!!
Since I won't see my car until May, is there anybody out there that has bought their car later than last message(12/2006), and not experiencing paint problems? I wonder if they have resolved the paint issues. Note: I was at the dealership this past Fri (3/23/07) looked closely at a Orange sport on the lot. It did not have any paint issues, nor did the bumpers seem too tight against the body.
thanks for any help.
