Hey Adam, any chance you can bring me back a test pipe from AJR on your way back from the turbo install?
I have no idea when I will be ready.. I think I am doing the install the 2nd weekend of August. It'll be hard to say if I will be ready and have the turbo broke in before you guys go.

I'm actually doing the install in my garage. Me, a couple buddies, and a case of cold ones!. So, to answer your question.. I won't be able to bring you back a test pipe since I won't be in Van at all... sorry.

Actually! Why don't you call up Ben and see if he can't just ship it in the same box or same shipment as my turbo kit?

I already paid for and ordered my kit, so I think he'd be shipping it out either today or tomorrow.

Cool sounds good.. I may need a good flashlight holder lol.. I may ask one buddy of mine who has done millions of engine swaps and turbo kits to give me a hand.. if he does then it should be a cake walk.. i hope!

Hooray for cake walks!

What is your plan for tuning or is Ben going to program the e-manage before he sends it to you?

lol, after some thinking I am going to put off the test pipe for a while yet still I keep flip flopping on it.

Ben is going to load the Emanage Ultimate with the 6psi map. I should be good to go. I'm sure I can fine tune it later on, but that probably won't be for a while til I can save up some funds again.

so he is sending you the kit with the internal wastegate adjusted to 6psi or is it an external wastegate kit?

Let me know if you guys need another set of hands, I'm pretty familiar with engine swaps, turbos and Fits

How about sometime around the 23rd of August for the dyno runs Nick?

Hey ET.

Its an external tial wastegate... i heard that it is quite loud at full boost when it opens up compared to internal ones..

Ben is installing a 6psi spring into the external wastegate before he ships it out. I am bypassing the 4.5psi and going straight to 6

I'll definitely let you know if we need some assistance. We are gonna attempt to do it and if we catch a snag and are lost I'll for sure give you a ring! Thanks for the offer! It's great to know that I have support from all you guys! Kinda comforting.. like a warm cup of hot chocolate on a cold winters night.. hahahahaha

I'm curious to know.. is it only crazy loud at WOT? or is it tame when just driving around normally?

I think we are not using the right terminology, an internal wastegate and an external wastgate can potentially make the same amount of noise.

If you have an external wastegate and its dumptube is recirculated into your exhaust the noise will not be present.

If you`re crazy like me and like open dumptubes that dump exhaust under the oilpan, you will hear it and it is quite loud as soon as the car reaches full boost. Under normal driving circumstances the car is either seeing very little boost or no boost so it will not be any louder than a regular car.

If you do a WOT pull it will sound like an angry Mack truck

Hey good stuff, I am looking forward to it!

I think I will fore-go extra tuning after all now that I have talked myself out of a test pipe again

Hey ET, I am getting close to the oil change limit again on my maintenance minder. maybe I can switch out for some synthetic before this date comes up, was also thinking about getting some GM Syncromesh for the tranny. What do you think?

it probably can`t hurt for the synthetic oil but the synchromesh will only show improvements in shifting on a car that hasn`t had its tranny fluid changed out in more than 40 000kms and the honda stuff is pretty good also.

If you want a bit more power change out the oil for synthetic and get some nice fresh plugs in there that will probably give you about 1-2whp

what type of pulley? crank, alternator?

what would we be doing oil change, filter change, tranny fluid, intake manifold swap and pulley or we`ll look at the intake for a later date?

Ill check with Jon to see if we can do it at HW if not my garage looks good for the 16th
