Ive heard some bad things about Royal Purple. I dunno, Mobil 1 seems to be the one that consistently gets good reviews, I'm not sure who is best to go with. What would constitute a good oil for force induced applications?

Here is what I found on the Mobil 1 site:

Mobil in Canada

It does say Turbocharged applications on there.

BTW, what is the recommended type of oil for our cars? Is it 5W30 or 5W20? If it is 5W20, I'll probably use AMSoil 5W20 Dominator Racing Oil

I would be fine using Honda oil, AMSoil, Mobil1, Royal Purple or Castrol Syntec anyday. They are all very good companies with great products, after that it's just personal preference.

If you ask me tuning and the fuel you use is much more important than oil is unless you plan on going 10k+ between oil changes...

I've been picking ppls brains for the past month to get answers about what oil to use...

For oil weight, Ben said 5w40 is best.. so I'm sticking with that.

Ben and a few other forum members have said to stay away from Mobil1 synthetic oil.. I haven't gotten a good reason as to why, but I'm not going to go against their word.. I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I personally picked up Redline Full Sythetic 5w40 oil the other day.. about $10 per litre. I was going to go with Royal Purple, but I was told that Redline is one of the best for FI cars.

For the install I am going to put in Quaker State 5w30 (non-synthetic) oil. I am going to run it for 500kms, and then change it out for the Redline 5w40 oil I picked up. I didn't want to waste the money by using synthetic oil during the break in and that I will put in some good oil after the 500km mark.

I'm also gonna flush out the coolant.. I picked up a couple bottles of Honda Long Life Coolant and a bottle of Redline Water Wetter.. the Redline stuff is an additive to the coolant which helps it run 20 degrees F cooler than before.. I figured it wouldn't hurt if I did that..

Yeah I'm not sure what application would be best for my S/C since the Rotrex unit uses its own oil and not the engine oil for cooling. Hey ET, should I stick with 5W20 or go to 5W30?

Ya, thats a tough one.. I would probably say 5w30 oil. Any brand of full synthetic would be fine.

Yeah if that is the case, I'm either going to go with AMS or Mobil 1. Hey anyone wanna stock up on AMS oil for your car? I can register as a preferred customer for 6 months and get a 15-25% wholesale discount on their products for said 6 months. We can all grab whatever we want

Jackson did not mention anything about having a need to change to a different oil weight and your oil cooler runs off it's own stuff. Your setup also generates quite a bit less heat than a turbocharger does so I see no need to change.

Adam, Redline is pimp stuff and I'm sure you will like it. In your case the oil recommended and water wetter makes a lot of sense since your engine bay will now see a lot more heat.

As long as you bleed the cooling system properly you will not have any issues at all. btw is the turbo only oil cooled or also water cooled?

Ya, i hope the redline stuff works out well... what are your thoughts on installing regular 5w30 for the break in (500km) and then changing it out for the redline oil? If its pointless, should i just start with the redline oil and run it to about 4000-5000kms?

The turbo is only oil cooled from what I can tell.. but I did purchase a seperate oil cooler which wasn't necessary, but to me it was a good piece to add on. I just need to figure out where to mount the thing! lol

So should I go with the dominator series 5W20? Or can I swap over to the regular 5W30 stuff?
