I took a picture of the new kid on the block next to its sibling. Their personality is so different. I hope they get along.

They will. Fits are known to be very tolerant and respectful of other vehicles, regardless of color or make.

Your picture shows what I miss most about moving out of my house to where I am now - a garage! How I miss the luxury of having a garage to park my rides in.

This is pure awesome!

I always tell others you should buy what you like and not what your "income" defines what you should buy.

Good for you!

It makes me think I'm less crazy wanting a Fit

My loan is charging 1.9% interest, so that's the last thing I would pay off early.

Mine is charging 1.49% but I'm going to pay it off early this month too. I've got the money and it's buying my peace of mind of no longer having a car loan. When we're talking about the balance of a car loan, we're only talking a few hundred in interest. Not going to affect my retirement posture one way or the other. I know I can make more money in the stock market, I got 12% returns last year but there's no feeling like being debt free

I didn't like the black glossy piano look because I could see finger prints and dust so I carbon fiber vinyl over that area. It looks great. Took a lot of time to fabricate the pattern (LX dash) to make it looked perfect.

2 RISMO: Do you know what tires you plan on buying to replace the Firestones?

Silver EX: What kind of driving are you doing to get over 40 MPG on both FITS? Do you do over 95% highway?

I am only getting only 32-33 MPG combined. About 50/50 highway/city.

But on those times I just did highway it was closer to 40.

But to get over 40, I would have to jump on and off the highway with almost no city driving at all.

I'll probably be going towards the General Altimax RT43 in 205/50/16.

As far as your other question about MPG, I'm consistently getting over 40 MPG. My best being 47 MPG. My commute is about 80/20 highway/city driving. I also have options to take back roads that many times move better than highways. I've implemented some hypermiling techniques that have helped. Simple things like coasting towards a red light and timing it so it's green by the time you get to it. Or accelerating down hills to use momentum to get up the slope.

Having visited LA, I think your traffic is the issue. Lots of stop and go driving really put a dent on MPG.

Rismo:

That is quite an impressive "system" that you have to save fuel.
And you are correct: LA driving is expensive on the fuel consumption. On FIT, AC on, and stop and go only tanks get 26 MPG AVG. Ouch!

Regarding Tires:

I actually had the Altimax RT43 on my 2009 FIT for 1.5 years before I sold it for the 2015 FIT. It was a fine tire and I had no problems with it for that period. Inexpensive tire back then. You may find though? that it may cut your MPG's a gallon or two bc RT43 is not an energy saver tire like the Firestones that came on our FITS.

I have been very actively shopping for tires, also in the 205/50 size to replace the Firestones which tend to slip and slide on wet starts.

Here are some other options--have you considered:

1. *BF Goodrich G-Force Comp 2 A/S (*90.00 at Tirebuyer.com--not too bad)

2. Michelin Primacy MXV4
3. Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 (143.00 at Tirebuyer.com Expensive)

4. Pirelli P7 Cinturato All Season Plus. (I have seen these in the 120.00+ range)

5. Yokohama YK580

replaced the dealership license plate frames with some standard chrome ones. I'll be adding more actual parts and customizations later.
