There is a yearly safety inspection and a smog check in the major metropolitan areas of Texas.

It depends on what county you get your car registered in which affects what inspection you're supposed to get. Some counties are Safety only (no emssision), OBDII/ASM (emission monitor check/sniffer in the exhaust on pre-95 models), and OBII/TSI(Two Speed Idle with sniffer in exhaust).

Austin will have Inspection sticker required for safety check and emissions with Two Speed Idle.

Austin is in Travis County. Rules are different for every county.

I'm having a mini-meet with some local Fit owners on September 28th in Pearland. Thinking of either heading to Freebirds and/or maybe BJ's Brewhouse. Any Houston locals want to join let me know.

Good reviews on several forums and they seem to price their work reasonably fair.

What's up everyone?

Been kinda busier than usual and haven't been posting as much. Hope all is going well for you everyone.

I've been making a few changes to my GD recently and decided to make a thread to track it.

anyone happen to have one lying around? I live in the 76131 area and I wanted to see if I can just buy it locally before I have to go online and get this sucker.

Both my old switch has intermittent problems and my just recently replaced crapped out. Talk about bad lucky. I have the whole assembly too since I just bought the whole damn thing a while back just to be safe.

inb4 o'reilly's and autozone hasdempartz.

guess my post didn't go through last night, was dead tired.

It's the VTEC oil pressure switch. Basically, switch turns on when the oil pressure hits it and VTEC goes WHEEEEE.

I slapped my old one in after a deep clean and its been working fine but i want to err on the side of caution and just switch out for safety sake. mine crapped out on the middle of acceleration when I tried to pass a pickup track coming from the on-ramp... So that was kind of frustrating when my car kicked on the CEL, lost power, and went into a 4k-rev limit limp-mode

5-10 minute job basically lol. 58 dollars off Ebay but i'd rather save some money at this point and see if anyone locally has it.

For anything relating to VTEC operation I would recommend finding a straw, suck it up and overpay for the honda OEM part.

Id have to say they are more reliable. Plus, myhondapartsstore.com has them for $52 plus shipping (list price is $70). Might wanna stock up ona few other parts, like oil filters, to make the shipping worthwhile

Oh I get that, my original replacement was a Honda Genuine replacement. that's why it's unfortunate it happened. I'll swap it back once I replace the switch though because the rest of the assembly has less than 10k miles on it.
