Does anyone know if it's possible to have the doors lock at 9mph (default on my Fit) and unlock when put into park? I did this code today and it worked (thanks!), but now my doors lock as soon as I take it out of park, which I don't like.

See my earlier post in this thread about how to lock the doors in either Park Mode or Drive Mode.

You're done.

Hope that works.
The secret to this is removing the key after the second click.

I tried the above method about 6 times with no luck, until I noticed the key removal part someone mentioned pages later.

Hopefully this post will save somebody some time.

First off, thank you for this info! Oh how great this is!

Now, there's a slight twist. The original proceedure-

- Insert key and turn forward 2 clicks (don't turn engine on).

- Press and hold the door lock button to its "unlock" position.

- After 5 seconds you'll hear a click. DON'T LET GO YET! Wait another 5 seconds until you hear another click.

- Take the key out immediately

------------------------

I have an '09 Sport A-T. I had to wait for three clicks and then take the key out, for this to work. The original proceedure didn't work for me after four attempts. So in short, if the original proceedure doesn't work, add one more click and then turn the key off and pull it out. Also, after doing this my doors still lock at the default 9 mph setting, which is what I want.

Sweet! Thanks again!

Alternate proceedure if the original doesn't work-

- Insert key and turn forward 2 clicks (don't turn engine on).

- Press and hold the door lock button to its "unlock" position.

- After 5 seconds you'll hear a click. DON'T LET GO YET! Wait another 5 seconds until you hear another click. Don't let go yet! Wait another five seconds until you hear one more click.

- Turn the key to off position and take it out immediately.

Dan

Hey Rangefit the third click thing did the trick. My only complaint about the Fit has been resolved. My wife and I could'nt be happier. 250k here we come.

The third click does the trick!

The procedure: waiting for the 3rd click worked like a charm on my Base MT. Locks pop open when I remove key, and still lock automatically once underway. Thanks, everyone!

Our new Fit base auto is my wife's daily driver, and she's only had two complaints about it. First was the doors not unlocking when parked. Well, thanks to Crystal and you others, plus about fifteen seconds, I got that problem solved! She is quite pleased.

Next up are the following: carpet floor mats, Accord horn (her other beef), and a remote keyless blank, all from CHH.

I love this car. Too bad I hardly ever get to drive it!

It works! Thanks for everyone who contributed to this thread! I was in a rush at the dealership so I never got to go over all this type of stuff. Thanks!

Yeah, thanks for this. My kids were getting on my nerves with the rapidfire "the door's locked Dad (aka: stupid)" latch pulling. They didn't like Daddy's return "THE CAR IS ONLY 5 DAYS OLD!!!" look either.

THANKS! Now my wife won't give me the look every time she tries to get out of the passenger seat.

This has worked after many failed attempts! Instead of pushing the unlock button and waiting for 3 clicks, I was pushing the lock button...not reading the post close enough.

This must be a post for newer FIT's since my 2007 does not have this feature... but I do like the feature that will not let me lock the car when the key is in the ignition: kool...

if your battery is dead then why worry about setting off the alarm. if it goes off just pop the hood and disconnect the battery cable... otherwise call AAA or a local mechanic that makes house calls... sorry I feel your pain but have never had anything close to a problem like yours since I owned Hondas...

Please clarify. If the battery is dead then there will be no alarm.

You say key will not open door or turn off alarm? Alarm is on? Did you mean the remote on the key does not work? Of course it does not as the battery is dead. Use the key key to unlock your doors. Put the key in the lock and turn it.

For some reason the methods above didn't work for my car to have doors unlock when I turn my key out of the ON position.

I have an AT Sport.
I did the following for my doors to unlock when I switch to off (this is in the manual) but the following is from my memory:

1) Pull up E-brake, Insert Key, Switch to the ON position (don't start the engine, make sure doors are closed
2) Press Brakes, Twist Key and start engine, switch from (P) to (N) Neutral.
3) Hold Unlock button for 5 seconds, hear a click (don't let go yet), wait another 5 seconds and hear a 2nd click, then let go of unlock button.
4) switch from (N) to (P) Park, let go of Brake, Twist key from On to Off and remove.
