milage

I have a auto/sport

my third tank and I got 29, the one before was 26. Both with substantial use of the air conditioner here in scramento. Mostly (75%) city driving. How it continues to climb. I replaced a mr2 spyder that always got between 30-35 no matter what type of driving

Got 30mpg with a pretty even mix of city/hwy for the 2nd tank in our AT Sport. Yay! First tank was 26mpg.

DANG, my latest worst fill ever, got only 23 MPG!!!!!!!! this is with mostly city driving with A/C on and 4 adults most of the time...for some reason, the gas meter drops quicker after it pass the half mark...just craps out like water...

What a revelation. I got 31.8 MPG. It's getting better! Only at 1300 miles.. I can't believe how many miles you guys are putting on your car. I need to take a road trip to really break my car in. In any event, I'm just hoping to reach 2500 miles soon so I can finally change the oil out. But so far, I am happy with the figures. It's matching EPA standard. And when it exceeds it, I'll be estatic. I poured 8 gallons today at 255 miles. Filled with Chevron - $26.50 @ 3.27 / gal

I can say you will never get 40mpg on ur car

others get 40 in m/t.. since u're only averageing under 30 mpg.. i doubt that even after break in u will get 10mpg more..
i wish you luck though as i'm in the same boat as you.. i've given up on even 35mpg..

Latest info:

Sport 5AT. 60/40 city/highway. A/C on approx. 75% of the time. I was using the paddle shifters in 'S' mode for city and shifting earlier than the tranny would have.

313.3 miles, 9.2 gallons = 34 MPG. Oh, and the fuel light hadn't come on yet.

I'm hoping for a little better once we wave good-bye to A/C weather here in Phoenix.

I haven't tried this yet but might - where are you shooting to shift? I believe the AT seems to shift aroudn 2900 - 3k if left to its own devices....

driving the vtec

I have a new Fit Sport AT and my first fill up was 30mpg. One thing that I am noticing with this motor is that the VTEC seems to be tuned for more torque right off the bat. My other cars are a Pathfinder and an '03 Accord. Both have VVT and both have more power than the Fit. I am un-learning the tendency to ride the throttle too deeply. The car will actually accelerate when I lift off the throttle on the highway. So I think that as I get the feel for the interaction between the DBW throttle and the VTEC and the tranny I will see an increase in mileage. I seem to be getting 30 without driving for mileage or taking it especially easy on the road speed. Between break-in, adapting to the car, and cooler weather = less A/C, I think that it will be in the mid 30's on a regular basis. Time will tell.

BTW, My other nick was da_bom and I made only a few posts. I do emissions and energy work for a living so I decided to tie this in to my job and create a new account to go with it.

I'm at a little below half on our 3rd tank, and there are 145 miles on the trip.. If it ends up being at around 280 when I fill again, that'll be 32mpg. 1st was 26, 2nd was 30. Woot!

Ok, my Fit is automatic, i do live in NYC so yes ethanol is in the gasoline. I also run my air all the time, its hot up here, humid and yucky. and my driving is stop and go. but i expect better mileage then i am getting.

yesterday i let it go till the light came on and filled up today. i had gone 194.7 miles on 9.068 gallons plus perhaps half the reserve. so i figure i am getting 20 mpg.. it is worse then this sometimes. when i filled up it took 9.830 gallons.

also i was in a hurry and left the gas cap off the tank. nothing happened! no warning light - nothing! i noticed it a few seconds later when i got to my next stop. A light is supposed to come on telling you that you left the gas cap off. i give up. really.

still waiting for my dealer to call me back.

I was thinking about moving out further and commute 100 miles a day.. but that would mean that i would refill every 3 days.. x 7 fill a month at $30 = $210..

I have about 5000km on my Fit now. I'm averaging about 33mpg. A few tanks I have gotten 29-30mpg, I got as high as 38mpg. Most of them are around 35mpg, but the occassional 30mpg is bringin' my average down.

Hey I'm happy...it's a far cry from the 20mpg I got in my Pilot. Hooray!

mine is going in next week. when i called - i talked to my sales man and then service and said i was getting between 18 and 20 mpgs- there was no shock in there voice or anything. but when i told them i left the gas cap off and drove for about 15 minutes and no light came on to warn me.

the sales man was shocked and said i may have a computer problem, the woman who made my appointment said "well that light doesnt come on right away. it could take days, or weeks"

in any case i made the appointment - I think i was bothering her or perhaps many east costers NY/NJ were bothering her.

I got 28MPG on my first tank full in my sport AT, from the dealership. I'm hopeing the tank wasn't filled all the way. I barely tap the gas pedal, and I don't like using AC... and even then, I'm still driving slow to "break in" the engine. We'll see what the second tank gives me MPG wise.

PS: I also have a 2 mile trip to work... in the city... and its stop and go almost all the way there.

Glad to see that our Fit isnt the only one thats getting low mileage.......my wife's auto Sport cant get anything above 25 mpg. Lowest was 19 (all city with AC on). We've taken it into service twice and they say nothing is wrong with the car. Also called Honda customer service and started a file on our complaint with poor gas mileage. We are supposed to now keep a record of the mileage for the next 4-5 tanks and then take it back in. Im hoping that we can get rid of this turkey under the lemon law......disgusting that this car gets lower mpg's that most V6's and some V8's. Honda sure dropped the ball with this car.

I have never gotten as low mileage as you, however, I am also disappointed by the gas mileage. I got 38 mpg after the car was new, 90 percent highway on a drive from Cleveland to Columbus and return. Since then my mileage has consistently gotten worse. I now average around 28-30 mpg with a 60 percent highway, 40 percent city. I don't drive hard, average 70 on the highway. Don't understand what is up with this engine? My Nissan Altima 3.5 SE averaged between 22-27 mpg with 245 plus hp.
