There are a few reasons for this. First, red LEDs are brighter and cheaper than other colours. (LEDs are not actually more efficient than incandescents; they are more reliable, and save power where a dimmer light is acceptable.) Second, LEDs tend to shine in one direction, which is great for brake lights but not so great for turn signals. Third, the familiar clicking flasher won't (necessarily) work with LEDs, and some places require an audible indication, which the relay flashers provide 'for free'.

Efficiency of lighting is based upon specific lumens output per watt of electricity. From that data that I have seen, LEDs are more efficient; as well as having a longer lifetime as well.

With regards to light deflection, a simple reflector can be designed to compensate for the LED's behavior.

Also, why wouldn't the turn signal relays work with LEDs? I thought that adding resistors would get rid of the hyper blinking syndrome that LEDs can create.

if the top section is for turn signal, middle is for brake and for the night lights.

Whats the bottom bit for? reverse?

Also, any slot for a back fog light?

But will it "fit"?

OK not to be a pain but is eveyone sure that JDM (for that matter the rest of the world OUTSIDE N.A.) tail lights are the same as the NA Fit's? I am not going to believe that a single out-market part will fit the Fit until someone actually bolts (or screws, or pops, or glues or...) it on.

Well, we'll just have to wait until April or early summer to find that out.

Unless someone can get a hold of a pair of these tail lights and a Honda press car and do the swap!!!

i installed it, and it is going well with body, no any pain in the body, no overlaping, no dent.

there are 3 bolts, one pin and one hole at the bottom.
all lengths are equal to the body, easily installed.

cost in thailand is 8000 baht (1US=42 baht)
the original led is costs 17000 baht

LED tailight retrofit

I've found some LED tailights from a damaged 2007 Jazz and would like to install them on my 2005 model. Does anyone know if these will fit directly onto a 2005 model without modifying the wiring loom, ie..will the LED lights plug directly in, or does the wiring need to be cut/modified to make the switch?

Thanks,
S. Ross

sross,

I don't think that would be a problem. The only difference if memory serves me right, the LED taillight would have an additional screw bracket at the bottom only.

Hope this helps.

Cheers!

clear LED tail lights?

Guys, which do you think would look better on a black fit? The full clear led tail lights or the red/smoked ones? I think the clear ones look cool and unique but I don't think everyone likes it... Thanks guys!

Matter of opinion.

The Lexus RX-300 comes with clear tail lights as well as a bunch of other cars - standard.

I have the clear LED tails coming for my VBP Fit...I think they look good and as far as I know is "proper" for a 1.5L Fit.
