Man, that's a bummer. The factory stereo is made by Alpine and puts out more amps than most replacement units. You can tell by the depth of sound and how heavy it is - it takes copper wire wound around iron to generate amps. I tried a Kenwood when I thought mine was bad and the sound just wasn't the same. Let us know if it can be repaired.
I went with OEM. You can pay now or pay later, IMO. I find Honda parts to be of good quality. However, I realized once I saw the old parts up front, that the three main motor mounts were actually quite within servicaeble limits. Not bad for 13 Alaska winters and 217K miles. When I was under the car when it was on blocks 2 years ago they looked funky, but when you see them up close you realize they are cut a certain way that can make them look bad when they aren't. Now, the farthest forward transmission mount was indeed torn and bad, but that one is easy to replace if you remove the fender well insert, and I replaced that two years ago, with OEM. I get all my Honda Parts from Majestic.

OK just got the unit back and here are some takeaways:
1. You have to send the radio and attached control panel together as one assembly (you'll have to separate climate controls from the control panel and zip tie to your dash), the repair facility and/or Alpine will not accept a radio that has been "un-canned" (separated) from the control panel because it exposes the control circuit board to static electricity.
2. The local repair facility (United Radio in Syracuse NY) was not allowed to repair the faulty display per Alpine so they had to send it to California for repair (no extra cost I'm aware of)
3. Alpine was not able to repair the fading display so at this point I had two options: Alpine could return my radio or sell me a refurbished radio, I chose the latter. The refurbished radio includes new security code, a new control knob, and a new control panel (Note: The panel does not have the stickers for the climate controls so you will have to remove your stickers before shipment or buy them):
(Sorry for the huge font, I copied them from a website and couldn't figure out how to make it match the rest of my post)
In the last few weeks, I swapped back to OE GD3 parking brake cables and installed Fastbrake's parking brake cable adapters for my rear disc conversion. Parking brake now properly releases and there is no longer a driver side braking bias... which was fun at wet autocross events.
Yesterday, I went out with the local Houston BMW and Porsche clubs for autocross. Was the first time the GD has seen any course time in a year and a half. Was a nice change of pace considering current times.

Wow! Good timing for me! I'm trying to use those adapters, but just can't seem to stretch my factory cables enough to reach the calipers. I'm using RSX calipers, maybe that's the issue? I have the cables disconnected all the way to the tunnel trying to get enough length.
Other difference is I'm using Scarebird brackets. Wondering if they just mount the caliper further away.

I'm using EP3 calipers and rotors with the Scarebird brackets and factory GD cables. I found that I needed to take a chisel and open up the "fixed" brackets on the cable to get just enough range of adjustment to install everything.
It's not what I wanted to do in such a short notice but it works. I'll likely refine that later down the road.

I'm such a newb with all of this Honda stuff. LOL Just looked them up and the EP3 Si calipers are the same part number as the RSX calipers I'm running. And I have same rotors as you as well. So, same exact set up.
While I'm an idiot when it comes to Honda parts knowledge, I'm pretty good at wrenching. I'm going to have to keep messing with it to see what I'm doing wrong.
Never heard of this exhaust. It's a little raspy compared to my HKS Hi-Power but a good kind of raspy.
the T1R VIP is a knockoff of the RS*R C&K
I think both are out of production at this point. As far as I know only a couple C&K made it over the US. I’d like to know what happened to mine after I sold my car. It is probably rusted and trashed by now.
Got pulled over twice in my 07 GD3 today lol Once for doing 118kms in a 70 zone and then another one because the cop couldn’t
see my temporary plate or my face through my front windows lol
Its not what I did to my Fit/Jazz today. Its more like WHAT Fit/Jazz did I get today. I got a super clean 2008 GD3 with only 120000km on the clock. And this thing is MINT! So excited to pick it up on Saturday.

Wasn't today, but over the weekend I finished the brake upgrade. Final step was swapping tires over to the new wheels since neither set of our other wheels cleared the calipers. D'oh!
