Simple maintenance today. Replaced the front rotors with the usual slotted Stop Tech rotors and pulled off the old Carbotech AX6s off to replace them with XP8s. AX6s will replace the Hawk HP+ at a later time. Just need to wait until Hurricane Harvey fully passes and they'll go on with some Centric High Carbon rotors.

I kind of surprised myself when cleaning last night and found the box of brake pads. I completely forgot that I had ordered them. Hahaha

Great finds!

I was planing on the mFactory differential, but that Quaife is cheaper and likely very near the same quality.

Just a head up on that Exedy kit. Everyone has different experiences and maybe something is wrong/unique about our car, but the factory clutch started having throw out bearing noise and clutch chatter at around 100k miles. We put that Exedy OEM clutch in at about 130k miles. It only went about 50k miles before the throw out bearing noise and chatter returned.

I'd rather have a Quaife LSD than MFactory. That's rad.

Quaife certainly has a bigger name.

Are there any parts needed for the swap and/or anything else worth changing while installing? Like any serviceable bearings, shims, etc?

Any links appreciated!

No prob. Thought Id share the secret...ebay seller Autotech(mostly vw go fast stuff) sold over 20 of them and I got mine with 6 left but with 50+ or more people watching I knew they would fly. Pretty much saved 700+ bucks. Shipping was 5 days flat.

Ps the 2018 focus is getting a quaife lsd Add on option. Very cool.

It's now out of stock. Glad I didn't wait like I usually do and then get mad at myself.

Need to figure out which clutch to go with and if I want a lightweight flywheel, original resurfaced, or OE replacement.

I'm eyeing a big purchase on eBay, but the darn seller hasn't responded to 3 of my messages over a 10 day period. If they would respond at all, I'd click buy now, but their lack of communication has me nervous.

Gafit I like how you asked about the quaife install at 6:54 am then @10:54 hours later you go for it and bought one. Time stamps are cool.

Just make sure if you turn the flywheel its done by someone with some experience, consider where the clutch and flywheel align in the fit, not something to want to have a failure on. Its not just about how much weight but where the weight it taken off. Weight near the ring gear makes way more difference than anywhere else..

Good luck.. and take pics!

I will probably just have mine resurfaced by a good shop if it checks out 100% good.

If not, I'll probably shop for a quality lightweight aftermarket flywheel. The Honda one looks to be $240. Think I'd buy a $300 Fidanza instead.

Flywheels always scare me a bit. I have an SFI bellhousing and SFI flywheel in another car. I would like to keep my feet.

Edit - just found the ClutchMasters kits. Like the looks of that option a lot! That upsizes us from a 190mm to a 212mm clutch. I like that idea because our stock clutch was the smallest car clutch I'd ever seen. The plates in my motorcycle were darn near as large.

I'm prepping it for boost. Don't know yet if I'll have to buy a manifold and fab up a custom kit or if I will be able to source a complete kit.

It won't be fast regardless of what I do...I'm prepared for that. Just wanting a fun car. It's already fun in it's own way. 50% more power and limited slip should make it legitimately fun in the mountains.

Honestly, I like all sorts of vehicles. I have a motorcycle, luxury car, muscle car, the Fit, the VW and am shopping for a truck. Nothing I own is high end or worth a whole lot to others. That's ok, I like them. Faults and all

Sup guys, first post.

Just finished installing my old AP2 steering wheel into my GD3. Some modifying required, and the cruise control doesn't work yet, but it looks hell of a lot nicer!

Did the oil change (5.3 kmiles, 7 months interval at 20%). The engine consumed about 1/3 of the quart between oil changes; it took more than 5 seconds for the light to go out after initial start.
There were few aluminum specks in the drain pan but no sludge or carbon. Used 5W-20 oil all around (last time used Valvoline Premium conventional, today put Quaker State advanced durability oil)
I use -02 ( Honeywell) filter because it has larger holes than -01; the drain back valve held very good (filter was full of oil). If time permits, I will section it and see what's inside!

I purchased a new drivers and passenger side cowl cover almost 2 years ago. I finally got around to getting it installed. My old cowl was so grey and washed out. It's so clean and back to that nice charcoal color.

Can you take a picture of the back sides?
How did your wiper assembly look? Any cracks in plastic parts?
What pins/ rivets have you purchased for this project?
