To the OP: How much did the OEM trim pieces (a la fit nav and pilot ring) run you from Bernardi? -I tried searching their site but to no avail.

His links to Bernardi on the first post should work. The price for both is ~$46 for before shipping.

Ladies, Gents...

I'm reviving this post in hopes that a totally clear, concise, and definitive parts list can be compiled to top off this list for good. I truly appreciate the help, info, and opinions of the last six pages...now, how about the definitive list?

In two weeks I'll be installing a Kenwood DdX6019 into a 2009 Fit Sport. I'm hoping to pull it off with no hitches whatsoever. Any help would be appreciated, and thanks!

Also, thanks to all for making this a productive, mature, and friendly forum. Great vibe...^_^

All you need is these 3 Metra parts: 99-7877S, 70-1729, 40-HD10.. that the dash kit, harness connector and antenna adapter... Just installed a double DIN pioneer unit in my 09 Sport a few days ago...

Well, gee whiz. That was easy. What do you all suppose is the the best place to get this stuff? Any excellent and fair folks on here you recommend? Or some online store? Not being lazy, but reputation and word of mouth goes a long way.

I got the dash kit from Beach Audio, they were one of the few that had it in stock since it is fairly new... the other two parts should be available from any place that sells Metra gear, local or online...

One tip on the wiring - and I plan to make a separate post about this to make it more obvious to hopefully save others the trouble - the Metra harness adapter seems to have the "dimmer" and "illumination" lines swapped. The "dimmer" one goes from ground to +12 when the lights turn on. This is what the aftermarket HU's want. The "illumination" one, which is supposed to do what I just described actually is a variable voltage that changes when you dim the dash lights. Hooking this up the wrong way can lead to blown fuses or fried dash lights so it's important to test beforehand. I'm glad I did. I also downloaded the factory wiring diagram from Helm and it verified what I saw in testing - the "illumination" wire was being hooked to what the factory calls "ILL-" (pin 1 on factory connector, red wire) and the "dimmer" wire was being hooked to what the factory calls "ILL+" (pin 13 on factory connector, grey wire)... So bottom line, your HU's illumination wire needs to be routed to the grey ILL+ factory wire, regardless of how the Metra harness is labeled.

Other than that, everything else on the Metra harness matched up properly...

Bumping this up as I am about to order the Pioneer 6140, Sliphorn, did you get yours in? How do you like it, and any pics?

thanks!

Can anyone tell me what type of mounting bracket the OEM navi panel needs?

I have my F700BT isntalled using the Metra kit but the color is slighty off and the plastic doesnt feel the same. I have the OEM panel comming ina couple of days. Will the mounting "wings" from the Metra kit clip onto the OEM trim kit? Also will the Metra trim ring fit?

Thanks!

The OEM metal bracket is all you need now.

I'm a little confused on the wiring harness - the Metra website says that it is compatible with four speaks - but the Fit Sport has 6. So which wiring harness supports all 6 speakers?

The six speakers are really four, as the tweeters are part of the front speakers.

So, the Metra kit is fine.

Thanks for the reply.

Another thing:

What happens to the USB connecter when you install an aftermarket HU? I'd like the USB connector to still at least be able to charge my devices. Will this be impossible now?

  • Stereo (I picked the AVIC-F90BT)
  • OEM Honda Navi dash (I got mine at Bernardi) - 77251-TF0-G01ZA
  • OEM Honda Navi bracket (I got mine at Bernardi) - 77255-TF0-000
  • Metra wiring harness - 70-1729
  • Metra antenna adapter - 40-HD10
  • Used the Metra kit for the Honda Pilot for the faceplate surround. It's not a perfect fit, but it works.
I'm not doing a full DIY because I think the installation is pretty straightforward. I've never wired anything before or worked with car electronics before, and it's not a big deal. The metra wiring harness comes with a listing of what color wire matches what, and you just have to solder it to the wiring harness for the F90BT or whatever stereo you end up with. After that, you pretty much just plug everything in and you're good to go. You'll have to run the USB cable from the F90BT to where the USB cable is in the glove box (if that's where you want it to go), but you can just pull out the lower glove box and it's a piece of cake.

Questions welcome.

and i also have trouble lining up the navi bracket to the dash when my headunit is on, i'm geussing i should use some spacers in between the headunit and the bracket?

the four holes on each corner is what i was referring to (the bottom of the 2 console in the pic)

on the right you can see the holes on the metal bracket sits on the console

the specific screw size didnt matter as long as it was big enough so it was tight, i went to hardware store and got some random sizes and did some trial and error

here is a metra and oem comparison for anyone that cares
the metra seems more gray, while the oem is more brownish
and metra has more lines compared to the oem is smoother
the metra fit is just as good though
