What did you do to your GE fit today?
Yeah,
I am ging to have to find an installer for the Clazzios. This is
My 74th cake day and I can make a mess of of anything...
Ex: Yesterday I could not find any of my Phillips head screwdrivers
To change my license plates so I used my power drill. The screws came
out easy but when I reinstalled the rascal I used too much POWER and
totally ruined one of the screws...
The upside is that I had a year to fix the problem
However I came up with a fix this morning, I put a cutoff blade on
My dremel and was able to sorta cut a groove across the head of the
damaged screw and using a flat bladed screwdriver I was able to
loosen the damaged screw.

Goobers, sorry if we got off on wrong foot...I didn't mean to verge on a flame war. My bad, we're good.

My heatshield windshield cover arrived a half hour ago. I'm pleased at first glance. Large as it is it fits the space beautifully and is easily positioned and held with the mirror and visors. Maybe cuz it's the first time I've gone vehicle specific rather than generic, but I'm impressed, also at how small (relatively speaking) it rolls up. And it covers the small front quarter windows too. Since I'm dealing with essentially just one hand to put it in place then remove it, that's saying a lot!
Trivia: It's called a heat shield. And is big enough for a Mercury Space Capsule. Do many of you remember Mercury 7 & John Glenn's 3-orbit space flight? Where the first heat shield I ever heard of came loose before reentry? The whole country held its breath during the expected communications blackout at the worst part of reentry, wondering if we would ever hear John Glenn's voice again, or if the heat shield failed completely and the whole thing burnt to a crisp. I was in grammer school at the time, and every space flight caused us to stop all classes and go into the auditorium to listen. Heady Stuff!

Today, I parked the fit. Car covers on, and all plans for it are on stand by. It'll be back burnered untill after the wedding. My wedding.
Engine will be on an engine stand now though, to keep it higher off the floor while the tranny is going to a shop for the 08 civic SI LSD install, and then that's it for a few months.

I got some new rubber. Kumho Ecsta 4X 205/50/16
Great tires. I got the same ones two weeks ago. Good price + $50 rebate.
You probably already know this but these tires are asymmetric – They have "Outside" printed on one side of the tire and "Inside" printed on the other side. Properly mounted tire will show the "Outside" side when it has been mounted on the vehicle.

Yeah I did notice that. Gonna have them mounted and Hunter balanced at Firestone, I'm sure they'll mount them right. If not just have 'em change it around! Bout a month ago I had to have one of my stock 185/55 tires patched and the guy at the (cheap) tire shop mounted it wrong. I didn't really care tho since I knew I was getting new ones soon.
Just got the Kumho 4x's last week as well. I got them for my other set of rims in a 205-55-15 size. Still keeping the sport alloys, but plan on running the new rims more often.
I gotta wait to mount the tires till after I finish polishing up the rims, get the TPMS sensors, and then the ATEQ quickset.
Can't wait to try them out on the new rims.
Quite a few people use the Kumho's, I'm hoping the handling is as good if not better than the DWS' I got on the 16's.

Yeah I got them because they seem so popular. The $50 rebate card isn't bad either, even if it takes a few weeks to get. Right now I have the 185/55 Dunlops on the rear (really low tread) and 205/50 Firestone something-or-others on the front (still good tread). Wanted to replace them all at the same time and also really wanted to try the Kumhos. Should be good times. Then gonna put my 20 mm rear spacers back on and figure out what size spacers to do on the front. Gonna need to get my fenders rolled for sure because the rears rubbed w/ the 20mm spacers w/ just the 185/55. Anybody have pictures of stock sport rims w/ spacers on the front? Need to figure this out...
Yeah the $50 rebate is nice... whenever it comes (I'll hopefully have the tires mounted by then).
also, quite a few people have posted up good reviews/experiences with the Kumho 4x's.
Much better than the stock tire sizes.

I had weak a/c
My A/C was not that good and I was unsure if it was that I live in AZ and it was 108 out side or what. I got a new in cabin A/C filter for 16 bucks online and changed it out in 3 mins. helped a little with air speed but not temp.
So I thought a recharge could not hurt any thing so i went to walmart and bought a can with a guage and also a frige themometer.
My 08 fit sport was blowing 67-70 degrees out of the vent. I checked the low side pressure and compaired it to the chart on the side of the bottle with the ambient air at 106 degrees out side the can called for the psi to be between 50-55 mine was at 43ish.
I filled it according to the directions shaking it and turning it up side down untill it was in the recomened zone 50-55psi. At idle my vents blew at 55-57 degrees. victory i think not.
when i took it on a drive around town it was cycling on and off and making a quite pop noise every time it would shut off. So my a/c would not preform under very gentel acceleration. my compressor would shut off 2-3 time a minute and car was hot 85-95 inside.
I went home poped the hood and checked the pressure at idle and it was 50-55 and would cycle alot and when the compressor was on as soon as you gave it some throtle it would shut off.
Now i just wanted my car back to the way it was i went home and let out some of the psi out of the low side and got it back to 45psi at idle now my car would blow 59-63 degrees at ideal and would not cycle on off as much when driving but at hwy speeds 65mph at 2500-3000rpms it started to do that cycling agin and and car temp became 80-90.
So back at home i said screw the bottle recomendations and kept letting out the psi on the low end untill the compressor would stay on even when i varied the throtle between idle and 2700-3000 rpms the guage read 35psi at idle with the compressor on. the vents blew at 50-55degrees.
I then test drove it and most shifts when driving the car happens at 2500-3000 rpms and my compressor did not shut off frequently at all( maybe once every 10-15 mins was not noticeable) and the vents blew out at 50-53degrees which feels good.
I now am under the impression that in hot weather the psi would rise and the compressor would cycle to often and it would not blow that cool and or consistant due to to much psi/over charged. it seemed the lower the psi the more rpms you could hit with out the compressor shuting off.
Its working great now and colder than befor by far so i think the recomended psi is wrong.
I would like to hear what others think I am no expert but have been around cars a little.

On the flip side, it might be cooler because it's staying on longer. I'm sure some of the parts are going through thermal cycles (cools as the compressor pushes through, but warms up due to all the surrounding heat when compressor is off).
Added Sport Grill to Khaleesi!

PS. I left a note on a fellow Fit's windshield earlier too. Basically telling them if they love their Fit as much as I love mine, that they should check out Fitfreak.net! I may get me some business cards made up.

Are you going to have them mounted up for Saturday?
I was really looking forward to it but had to bail on FNL an StanceWI. not only that 10mm bolt-on spacers is hard to source locally... I also just got back from a 4 day Canada trip and just started things yesterday... spacers come in Mon ot Tues
Parked it at the house. For the past month I thought that my driver side front wheel bearing was on its way out. On the way home from work yesterday, something definitely didn't feel right and when put in neutral the car would almost come to a stop versus coasting. Got home and the front right wheel was extremely hot to the touch and emitting quite the smell. Bicycled over to Honda and and requested to have both sides up front replaced with new bearings, hub and will have the ARP studs installed since it is all coming apart and requested new hubs. I think I caused this not so much from driving really, but when I tried to pound out 1 of the studs, it was out, but no way to actually remove it without more work. Of course, the circuit driving and negative camber add to the stress the wheel bearings see. I knew it was eventually going to happen. Unfortunately, Honda is closed all next week for a National holiday so the car will sit till the 18th and be picked up on the 19th.
This also explains why I have lost 5 of the end-caps in the lugs on the right front wheel, the excessive heat must have been expanding the metal on the lugs causing the plastic caps to fall out. Every other wheel not one of the tiny plastic caps has been lost.
Also removed the wing, bonnet, front bumper and put the stock wheels back on. Reason, shops are not allowed to work on cars if they can not pass inspection. I don't believe my car would not pass inspection with those items, but Honda requested those things to be changed. They didn't care about the cage and only 2 seats as I told them the car is going to be re-titled as a 2 seater come its inspection in January.

I had a service agreement with my honda dealer for a few oil changes for free, just pay parts. well I had about 1 month left and the car is how it is now. swapped, caged, loud, modified. I drove the car into the service bay and said I needed my free oil change. The parts lady knows me now by first name... lol The service tech asked me what year was my honda Fit, I said its a 2004 RSX type S. She smiled and said whats your cell encase they need you? I told them. 30 mins later (waited in lobby) she came back. I could hear her roar from miles away. The maintenance tech came out with a big ass smile and said, "Jobs done but I couldn't reset the maintenance reminder" laughing. The a bunch of the staff had to look at the car.
They all got a real kick out of it. They won't forget it.
