Installed some new scuff plates

Not really my style but props on doing it yourself!

Those look nice, I am still on the fence about running them but yours look like they do the job

 

The scuff plates where did you get those ones? My are black plastic with Fit in the middle in metallic where those look entirely metallic. Nice addition I always like having scuff plates could not stand seeing scratches in the paint when you open the doors.

 

I'd like to know where you got them, too. I have scuffs to cover so the car will sell better in the spring.

Took approximately a week and a half to arrive. Came with an extra thin roll of 3m double stick tape which I used in addition to the one already adhered to the plates. Overall i'm happy and really can't complain for that price compared with nearly $100 for plastic oem. Nothing against the OEM except for the price. These knockoffs look great!

 

Did the horn mod and removed the FIT emblem off the hatch today.

 

Tuesday, the Fit went in for its state inspection, Mobil1 oil change, and the winter wheels put on, all for $70. Have about 1" of snow on the ground and temps have been down into the teens/single digits over night.

The fit does surprisingly well in the deep snow though. The front bumper is plowing a little bit and I'm not lowered, but I haven't gotten stuck even a little bit *knock on wood*. VSA has been kicking in quite often, which probably helps a lot.

 

Yeah, fortunately we haven't gotten much yet since I didn't have the Snows on. Now that I do, all will be well. With The Snows on, the fit handles pretty well in most all types of weather. Although it's not even close to the Ridgeline :-D

Yeah snow tires are actually designed for more grip and control period. So really people would benefit from just using them all year. Maybe they're a harder compound or something though so they'd give a rougher ride? Or maybe they're softer for more grip, so they wouldn't last as long and that's why there are summer/all season tires. I don't do a winter setup though. Just keep my all season Kumho Ecstas on. No problems. I don't even take off my TE37s haha.

They are better at evacuating water off the ground/ice so there's more traction, plus they usually have more aggressive tread patterns.

They're also made of a different compound of rubber, it's supposed to remain flexible in below freezing temps an contour to the ground better. Whereas summer/all seasons become more firm in the cold and don't contour to the ground very well.

The reason not to use them in summer would be because this softer compound is like mush when it's warm out and negatively affects handling. Not to mention it wears down a lot faster than regular tires in those conditions, making them less effective in the snow when you really need them.

 

I have been very busy with the car this week

Fixed my rear hatch clips which I broke last week and reinstalled the hatch cover

Orange clips were what I installed



I then spent 3 hours using my Porter Cable and polishing pads on the doors (which I didn't have time to do last time I detailed my car)

After I was done with the detail, super clean!


I then decided to order the NOAH car cover and will be selling my OEM car cover once that comes in

I used less than 1/2 to cover just the cargo area. Left the ends curled up to keep any liquids contained. There is enough left over to roll over the back seats when they are down flat.

What polish/pad combo did you use? And what sealant/wax? It looks sorta dull still, but it may be the reflection of the pavement and the lack of contrasting light. It's the problem with white cars I suppose, it's the color that doesn't show a direct correlation between time spent detailing, and the results (versus say, black).

I love Maxi Suds II. Works great with the 2-bucket or even in a foam gun/lance. I still want to try their honeydew in my gun but the maxi suds are cheap and readily available near me. Plus it just lasts so damn long haha.

 

I took my new foster dog for a ride. She is small - I would say 10-15#. Can anyone tell me about what the passenger airbags off light means when she is sitting in the front seat? Is it normal or a problem?

 

When the sensor under the passenger seat detects some weight, but not much, it turns that airbag off assuming that might be a baby in a car seat. That way the airbag doesn't go off in a wreck and possibly...destroy the baby. I've had things in the seat before and it makes the light come on.

 

Thanks - that is what I assumed. Probably better for the dog, too.
