26R battery, 715 cranking amps @32*F

oil catch can made from air compressor water/air seperator

Caught a TON of oil on my 1300 mile trip from wisconsin back to texas

honda battery pretty much gave up starting the car at 0 degrees. it started, but it struggled. New battery didnt even shrug, just started right away.


my "oil catch can" is connected to the PCV system, so it goes breather PCV, catch can/seperator INLET, OUTLET to nipple under/to intake runners


Got FULL audio for the car, now just need time to install. So far only changed front speakers with Kicker DS60. friends think I have a small 8inch sub.

Cant wait to finish the rear speakers, speaker amp, subs, sub amp.

Should be a VERY loud car for under $500 overall. And more importantly, a very CLEAN sounding stereo!!

This the battery you're referring to? I need a new one too, the battery in my '09 is the original battery and this cold is showing me how close it is to the end.

26R battery fits with a 1/2 inch spacer I made to go under battery. I cut all the sides off oem battery tray, but left a 1/2 inch lip on headlight side.

Battery does NOT have a holddown right now, but it is comfortably wedged between harness clip on left, ecu on back, holddown edge in front, and headlight to right (all as looking from popped hood)


AUDIO

Kicker DS60 coaxial speakers, 50rms watts rated. 90 dB rated. LOUD with my JVC KW NT300 nav deck!

Kenwood KAC-9103D for both subs, each sub will be wired as 8 ohms, then paralleled to 4 ohms at amp, so each sub will get 250 rms, plenty for these very efficient and clean subs!!

Powerbass ASA 700.5 for the speakers. sub channel will be left un-used

Fusion Powerplant FPW-1200, 450rms rated, 900 watts peak (peak numbers are useless!!) they are VERY loud subs and extremely clean. These are original 2004 or 2005 models, before Fusion gave in to profit searching and reduce this line's quality level! these are 90 or 91 dB rated subs if memory serves me correctly. Remember, 91 dB is roughly three times as loud as 90dB!! Most cheap subs are in the 80s!

- Konig Helium 15x6.5 +40 (I think that's the offset). Waiting for these cheap bad boys to explode, i'll be the first to let you guys know when they do. If so that's ok, wheels are cheaper than the tires.
- Yokohama S-Drive 205/55/15
- Tein S-Tech, stock shocks (77k miles)
- Stock fenders

No rub. Try as I might I couldn't get it to. Definitely ok for DD, I haven't done any crazy stuff yet but Uturns and high speed tight onramps are fine. By my calculations this wheel tire combo saved ~6 lbs per wheel over the stock steelies and 195/60/15 Falkens 512 I had, i'll take actual weights later.

I will say the ride is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much better, tractions SOOOOOOOO much better accel and corner. It feels like a real car now. I think the shocks were having a hard time damping the tall sidewalls + extra tire weight + drop springs.

I left for work this morning and the car felt slower, was kind of pissed, thought maybe the tires were heavier than I had researched + the compound and tread width.

I then realized I had the defroster on.

 

^^ The car is looking good! That's a nice setup you have there. I love the S Drives, great tire IMHO.

 

Thanks Veilside, I am happy it worked out as well as it did. I like meaty tires and small wheels and everything came together exactly as I saw and felt it in my head.

Gonna put 195/55/15 BFG SC2 on the steelies to mess around on. Backwards, I know, but the steelies are only like 17lbs and the tires are lighter so I figure it'll be about a wash. The width is not there but i'm not trying to set records so that's fine.

 

What made you go 15"? I was looking into going 15s prior to buying tires this year seem to find a lot more tires that I liked were available in 15 inch but not in 16 inch for my sport wheels. Looks nice looks like from the picture fills the wheel well, actually I would not known that they were 15s.

 

1) Chose 15s to save on weight mostly, those wheels are about 11 lbs, which is questionable considering their cost, but I won't be pounding on them and just running street tires so NBD. I figured the weight savings would make the ride a bit better, and indeed it did, a lot better actually. Also having tires worth a sh*t helps

2) Always been a fan of small wheels, fat tires, i've never liked low pros. I wouldn't even run 15s on my Corolla because I thought it looked too big, always ran 14s. It's just "my thing"

3) Smaller diameter makes the brakes not look so ridiculously tiny.

4) 16" Heliums are +40 but 7" wide, I thought 6.5" would give me some hope to not have to mod fenders, worked out so far. If I do end up rubbing on HARD turns camber bolts should fix it without cutting/rolling.


Thanks for compliment. Overall diameter is same as stock and I liked where the tire/fender sat in relation already with the steelies and 195/60, so I knew i'd be happy with that already.

I contemplated 195/55/15 for a long time but finally decided I wouldn't like the wheel gap and it'd look too small. Like I said I plan to run that size for any track days though because who cares how it looks and will increase the effective final drive to around 4.8 (if I calculated correctly), and weigh less then the 205/55 or 195/60, though the steel wheels they will be on will more than likely make it a wash in weight or weigh a tad more. I "should" get another set of aftermarket wheels for that stuff but i'm all about affordable fun so why not make use of what I have. "fun" being the operative word, i'm not aiming for competition with this, who cares if it's not "optimal" as long as it's fun, that's all that matters.

I love the meaty look as well. And what is the stock tire size on the Base model? Cuz I think the 205/55/15 is the same overall diameter as the stock 185/55/16 (or 205/50/16 - a popular replacement) on the Sports. So you're speedometer and odometer might read wrong. But you probably already knew that.

 

Nothing special, just JDM rear emblem for now. Still saving up for the next mod.

Wanderer, I can't hate them, even I've contemplated getting reps lately. Just focusing on buying nice tires rather than nice wheels.

That said, most people who buy reps also buy Falken 512's and then discuss how they're an amazing tire and grip like nothing else in the world.
