Yeah I did everything myself. Overall the process for the retrofit was pretty easy. The only part that bugged me was having to remove the bumper, which i managed to break a couple of clips. But once I got past the bumper the installation of the projectors was easy. I painted the reflector bowl so that put me back a day while I let it fully cure, but man was I excited to get everything in.
One of the bulbs and ballasts were bad so i have to wait for new ones to get to me before I want to do any output shots.

D2S projectors
50W Morimoto Ballasts
50W 5000K Morimoto Bulbs

Nice, great job. I am planning my own retrofit in the spring, wait till it warms up a bit up here. Did you go with the 3.0 version of the D2S projectors?

I think I will go with Denso ballasts and the Osram CBI bulbs.....

I'm trying to determine whether or not to paint the reflector bowl or not.... would be nice to be able to plug halogens back in if I had to....

Did you have to add additional sealant when you closed up the headlights?

Just thought I'd shoot this idea out to you. If you have the money to spend, it's totally a worth it retrofit. Can't be happier!

I got the 2.0s. I ordered them a week before the 3.0s came out. But as stated in an earlier post, I dont like trying just released stuff. Ive had bad luck in the past with brand new things, and figured I would play it safe and go with something thats been around for a while.

Nice! OEM stuff is pretty nice, but just be careful with the Denso ballast as they aren't waterproof.

I don't mind having the reflector bowl painted since it would still be a PITA to get the projectors back out when I could just stick new HID bulbs in. But with projectors its less likely to get pulled over. But i can see where you might be coming from.

I got the sealant. I think I could have gotten away with what is already there, but just barely. I like knowing that my headlights are completely sealed and not take the chance. But you wont use much of the roll. I just used about 2ft in total of the sealant roll and stretched it out to go all the way around the light. So its not much buts its noticeable when you seal the lights back up.

That is true re: getting the projectors out. I was thinking more along the lines of eventually selling the car, may be easier to sell it stock. But I would have to take the headlights apart again to get the projectors out.

I hear you on not getting the new version right away, I'm going to wait a couple months until the kinks get worked out.

The Densos are not waterproof but I understand TRS will pot them for about $50...

They actually charge $100 to pot the Densos now, I was going to go with them but 465 total for potted densos and CBIs was a little too much for me. I'll be going with the Mori's and phillips

Ah ok thanks for clarifying, I've heard some negatives with the mormito ballasts so I thought I would stay away from them. $100 potting definiately is pricey but I think I would still go that route.

Alternatively I understand the potting material can be purchased for $50 or less, that may be an option.

Yeah I heard some negatives about Morimotos too, As with any aftermarket part their quality control and margin for error is greater but i guess it really depends on your specific unit, overall though the Mori's sound like the best in terms of aftermarket. I'll update once I get the set. Then I just gotta wait for my FX-R's =D

Agreed likely the best aftermarket option. I think I'm going to go with the D2S 3.0 vs. FX-R.....don't trust myself to cut the headlight housings lol

Thanks, I didn't realize how much of a difference it made until I installed it. Believe I paid about $55 shipped

As part of a GB from TW Panson. Roughly 300 bucks including the shipping.

The ones I just got were free replacements under their warranty. I'll send you info on the old ones.
