New weight reduction mods on the way:
1. lightweight JDP vented hood
2. Lyon's super duper DIY axle back
Hopefully these two mods will shave around 15 lbs getting me to 165 lbs total weight reduction. We know the stock axle back weighs 11 lbs. I'm anxious to unbolt the stock GE hood and weigh it on digital scales.

Again props to Tork, TheEvilOne and jkskrn for providing verified weight/pics. Please reply to this thread to add parts pix and weight.

According to the seller on ebay, it was for 09-10. It's even listed as such, not 06, 07, 08, 09 like a lot of things on ebay are. It was a pic of the GD model, but he said VIS used the same photo... from the old model.
Call me skeptical but I still don't believe it. There is no mention of it even on Vis Racing's official webpage for the 09+ Fit:
Carbon Fiber Hood And Body Kits Megastore - Vis Racing Sports Inc.

I wouldn't buy it without a picture confirmation. Here's the listing if you want to do some investigatin'.

Steering wheel with airbag--6.2lbs. Take that for what it's worth though as I only have a cheap $40 digital scale, weighed myself and then weighed myself holding the steering wheel and it was 6.2lbs more.
Did it 3 times each and all 6 times it was the same weight.
Just removed the passenger airbag unit as well and with the same method as above, 5.8lbs.

Thanks for the info...1-900-toosexy. I'll add the weights to the list. I wish I could go without airbags...but there are too many 4000 lb SUVs on the roads here
.
In other news,
I just swapped the stock muffler for the DIY axle-back. I wasn't able to weigh the straight pipe before it was welded in place. We know the muffler weighs 11.0 lbs...so I'm just guessing (conservatively) this mod saves around 3-5 lbs. (This is user Hurley18's car...hope he doesn't mind me whoring it out.)

A quiet purr
. In cabin, the exhaust note is barely noticeable.
I don't have an intake yet...but I imagine this will increase the decibel of the purr. Lyon posted some sound clips and video of drive by noise.

Good shite makita. As soon as the J's front pipe arrives and I install it, I'll get some video clips of in-cabin sound. It already sounds very nice inside, but I'm hoping for some even more low-end goodness. I can honestly say mine sounds nothing like a tiny 1496cc motor. Also another 6.2lbs shed and more up front is a good thing. I need to find a place to corner weigh the car to see where I'm at currently.
I recommend using a "topped off tank" with you sitting in the driver's seat as your reference for vehicle weight. By doing this, you can use the Dynolicious iPhone app to consistently estimate whp (accurate within 4 hp...and this is within the error of a standard dyno). Otherwise, you'll always be guesstimating your vehicle weight and introduce error into the whp calculation.
See my thread regarding my experience with this app.

PRM intake - 1 lbs 13 oz (weighed in on the digital scales at the US post office when I picked it up)
Stock air box - 5 lbs 0 oz
------------------------------
Weight loss - 3 lbs 3 oz
This puts me right at 160 lbs of total weight loss. When the I get the JDP vented fiberglass hood installed, I'll weigh the OEM hood. I'm guessing this will net between 10-12 lbs.

The difference in weight is significant b/w the Insight and Fit drums...maybe 6 lbs just for the drum cover.
The problem is...and it is a big hurdle....that the spindles are different (the Fit spindle is too large to accomodate the Insight drum). In order to make the swap, you will need to remove the stock spindle from the rear torsion beam...this will require a plasma torch or at least a metal cutting wheel. Then the Insight spindle will need to be welded to the Fit rear assembly....the work will have to be perfect otherwise you will get wobbly rear wheels.
Best bet is to buy a separate rear trailing arm (new $270 vs. used) and have the spindles mounted at that time then mount the whole assembly. If you really want to drop weight...you could have a complete rear trailing arm fabricated out of titanium and then have the spindles welded on. Seriously, if you're gonna go this far you may as well get a custom fabricated rear trailing arm (titanium raw materials probably won't be much more than the price of a new OEM rear trailing arm). You would probably shed 80 lbs of unsprung weight going this route....THAT WOULD BE HUGE!!!
Once I get my civic K-swapped I may go this route^ on the Fit.
