Biggest Loser...Fit edition.
When I was searching the interwebs, most people seemed to recommend the Odyssey over the Braille. There seems to be more of an installed user base using the Odyssey with more reviews and this influenced my decision.
Regardless, they both seem to be really good batteries. Keep us posted on the install and overall impressions.

Yes, odyssey seem to be the most recommended lightweight alternative. My main concern is the whopping drop in cca compared to stock of 340. I need something that would match or better the stock batt's cca for winter and or freezing conditions and the b14115 seem to fit the bill. I'm really hoping it'll hold up well...

We can both be test mules for these batteries this winter, seeing as I live in one of the coldest corners of the continent...SE Minnesota

I actually plan to store the Fit in a enviromentally controlled storage unit through the winter. The rust up here is a bee-yatch and my old Z71 serves snow duty. I'll periodically crank the car each week to maintain the battery.
I really hope the Insight drums come in today...
Slow day on the forum so I thought I'd show where I'm at with the Insight drum swap.
I used Bernardiparts.com, for no other reason than because Kitty suggested the site. There are many others you could use...possibly with free shipping or a lower listed price.
Here are the parts that I ordered for ONE (1) complete rear brake...if additional parts are required I will update this list:

After EXTENSIVE research...the only problem I forsee is the wheel cylinder assembly (see pic below) appears to be a different size between the Fit (3/4) and the insight (11/16). I cannot confirm this information...I had two different dealerships contact Honda Technical support and they would not release, or did not know, the answer. The implication of this is that it **might** change the brake bias. The difference between the two is so small that I doubt this will be of any significance...however, if necessary, Summit Racing sells a brake bias adjustor for about $100.
This is the wheel cylinder assembly:

The total is $184.64 before shipping...this is considerably cheaper than a disc brake conversion. At this point, I don't know which would provide the greatest weight advantage (Insight aluminum drum vs. aluminum caliper/hat/steel rotor setup).
Hopefully the parts come in and I can get the right side mounted up this weekend.

Also updated the net total weight loss after removing rear belts, rear wiper/motor, and battery swap --> altogether = 17 lbs.
The new total weight loss is 140 lbs. Inching ever closer to the goal of -200 lbs....

Wouldn't cut out the bracing it's the only thing keeping the skin from crumpling up like apiece of tinfoil
You can ask Cat:x about her new CF hood and the dif in weight.
So ur want'n to go faster? try an Electronic Throttle Controller! from Panson Pan here @ FF that will really take the lag out. sp7

how much hp and tq increase do u expect from a TC?
competent drivers would not experience any time improvements for any acceleration test
buying gran turismo or forza is a much much better option to improve your driving skills than any TC could ever do
seriously, the only people that could potentially benefit from a performance standpoint are people with very specific neuro-muscular disorders that slow down the nerve impulse speed
a TC could make u SLOWER if u have poor fine motor skills in the first place
Good thoughts...

ever heard of alaska?
if i am already feathering the throttle, can u explain to me how a throttle controller will make it go faster?

Ummm...
The ETC does not increase horsepower but it does change the rate at which the ecu "sees" you pushing on the pedal. As a result, your acceleration is increased in ratio with the amount of "push" you have on the pedal.
There IS a noticeable difference and unless you've driven a fit with one installed and gone through all the modes, then I suggest you stop trashing something that many on here have and enjoy. It may not make horsepower but it DOES make the Fit more fun.
Back to the thread about WEIGHT LOSS.
Wow douchebag, way to pick out the most insignificant comment in the whole thread and attack it. BTW, pockets of MN are consistently colder in the winter than parts of Canada or Alaska. Your welcome...

Wow, have to love when someone talks out their old keister. I must also be one of those incompetent drivers that has a neurological disorder because when I put the TC on normal mode I can not get it to replicate any of the sport modes and better yet, when I put it on economy mode (which I never do, it lives on SP7) I guess that neurological disorder comes on full as the car becomes lethargic, but that is all me and not the electronic device. And where do you grasp from what was said that it will increase driving skill?
Finally I must laugh, if you think you are going to improve your driving skills by sitting behind a screen with a controller or even false steering wheel setup and playing a video game. The only really good thing video games do, is if they have real circuits, they can familiarize you to the layout, but even then you don't feel all the undulations and actual braking points coming hard into a corner are not going to be as the game is. Games have come a long way, but they still do not equate to the real thing. There is a reason they are called GAMES.
Maybe you should lay off of the video games for awhile and experience REALITY. Sorry I'm going to come across as a prick, but damn you opened that can of worms when you allowed your fingers to start walking.

let me change the tone a bit...
As you guys might have known, I installed the Touring Medalion yesterday. THe stock axle back is surprisingly light and very well made. The Tanabe is just a tad lighter... didn't have a chance to weigh then but definitely a pound or two lighter.
Now about the Braille B14115... when I did the exhaust install, I forgot I have a battery with only around 25 minutes of reserved juice and was playing the radio while the trunk was open all through the R&R process... *face palm*
Surprisingly the batt has still juice left and started the Fit easy... looking good for the Braille so far

sorry!
You're insight rear drum plan is like crack rock to me right now. C'mon bernardi, send the freaking parts already! I want to see progress!

(just picked up some 14x6.5 bbs rzs for track fun. They still weigh ~14.2 lbs a piece, but at least thats a total of 14 lbs saved plus an inch of width vs my stock 15" base steelies.)
