What is wrong with my Fit??
Wait, I've heard this before. Sounds like you drive double footed. https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...n-problem.html

And I am probably a better driver (and more accustomed to what to expect from a car) than a lot of you. If it's just the way the car drives, I know it. And I know when it's something more, as is the case with this Fit, regardless of what some on here AND the diagnostic tech claim (if I ever decided to take it to him, which I won't, because I know that's what he will say.)
Look, lamebrain, I'll fully acknowledge that Honda has faults. The fit is the only car from the current Honda/Acura lineup I'd actually put money down on. And its not like my car didn't have specific issues (part of both the batch of bad batteries in 2010 and part of the group that they forgot to tighten the seats to the car properly).
All that said, what you have described sounds normal. It holds the gear on hills with the TC disengaged. When you start going up the hill, it'll disengage the TC and then downshift. When you lift off the gas because you are approaching another car, it'll up shift to cruise at a higher gear, then downshift again when you go to pass. It's advertised to get ~30 mpg. That's just the way the car works; lots of shifting and opening closing of the TC. Clearly this isn't the kind of car you enjoy driving, so you should get a larger engined car for your new car. Just be sure to test drive the new one so you know what you are buying.

You seem to be the kind of person who insists he/she knows far more about a particular subject than the person you are debating, when in fact you MAY know ONLY as much, but probably not even that.
Know how I know this?
Because you keep commenting about Little Rock after only living there "a while", when I was born and raised here and lived here until college, and have been back another couple of years since.
Yes, it is MORE humid in Little Rock during the summer months than it is NOT. It is nowhere near humid here all the time. And while SOME drivers here (just like any municipality) are pretty bad, to make the asinine comment that they are the worst ever either means that you have never driven in the Northeast, or Oklahoma for that matter, or you are just talking out of your ass.
I know what I am taking about with regards to this Honda Fit. You have a lack of knowledge about it that clearly limits your judgement.
I'm not going to read through that whole thread, but if you mean I use my left foot for the brake and my right foot for the gas, I most absolutely do not. Having driven two manual shift Accords before this Fit, I am more than accustomed to only using my right foot.

Last bit of advice, Disconnect the battery. Check the fluids and fill up with good gas. If you still have a problem then take it to a tech.

I was going to suggest he was double-footed driving as well, but based on his angry, aggressive behavior towards anyone trying to help or give a suggestion, I'm going to chalk it up to the idea that his car just doesn't like him. I know I don't.
Yes, I can tell.
Hum, I'm just going to put down my shifting habits. I don't have an automatic though.
AND, this is very important... I'm not saying I'm a better (or worse) driver than anyone.
When accelerating, I "row" through the gears. My rpm shift point depends on my mood. Most of the time, it'll be about 3-4k rpm. When I'm feeling frisky, I'll red line it.
I try to never approach traffic ahead of me too quickly, so most of the time I can get away with just lifting off the gas pedal to slow down enough and proceed with pacing them.
When I pass other vehicles or climb hills, I will down shift. If its steep like the mountain passes I took on my road trip, I'll shift from 5th to 3rd.
Now, when I climbed Pikes Peak, I had to use 1st and 2nd all the way up and all the way down (mostly due to traffic).
And from 1995 until 2010, I drove automatics almost exclusively, yet I'm perfectly comfortable doing all this shifting. I won't hesitate to down shift at any time.
Curious as to why, if the OP truly thinks he's a better driver than many of us... why didn't he switch to S mode and do the shifting himself?

OK all insults and belligerence aside, my last tank of gas calculated 31.5 mpg. I am satisfied with that, just don't have any clue what I did different (nothing really), same brand gas, same interstate speed, and same type of shifting as before. I also filled up with 93 octane this time. Hopefully it will keep climbing a bit more.
As a reward, I washed and waxed it. I love my Fit!

I'm happy, FYI
I've had my 2010 Fit Sport for over 19K miles now. My overall mileage calculates to 34 mpg.
I track at least 95% of my fill-ups and their cumulative mileage. Driving is mixed town and road overall, but very little urban congestion. Climate is cold New Hampshire. My driving style is fairly leisurely. I have a few nitpicks about the Fit, but overall I really like it.

Very happy with mine. Drove Montreal-Toronto and got 39mpg. I got there on one tank and had some left to spare. 70mph on the cruise the whole way.

I maybe a MORON but my FIT gets 30+ in all driving conditions AND it shifts like a champ. Maybe Karma is catching up to you! Good luck with your lemon. Actually you convinced your mom to buy a lemon. Way to go. Maybe you should start a lemon thread and see how many people join the club. You could call it the Lonely Hearts Club.
PS I've removed you in my viewing preferences. Suggest you do the same.

Honda's quality control has been a little sporadic in the past year or so. Some get way over EPA, others, and it seems more all the time, are getting at or less. This slipage in quality has show up in a number of reliability surveys of late.
I've gotten as low as 26 MPG or as high as 42 MPG for any given tank of gas.
True, but I get way over, and don't drive easy. Overall quality has been slipping. Might have something, I don't know what, to do with some getting less than they should.
Yea no. Has more to do with driving/braking style, altitude, geography, what gas you use, how you maintain your vehicle, how fat you or the people you haul are, what you have on TOP of your vehicle (example: bike rack ate 6mpg from my old civic), what condition your tires are in and if they are properly inflated, OVER inflated, how your alignment is, what phase the moon is in.... Lol. For real. Every single person on earth will get different mpg driving the same car
