Nice! Seems like these engines are reliable for the long run.

Exclamation 2009 Fit sport 220000 miles

Big oil consumption: 1 quart every 800 miles. Not sure what to do.

Compression test - and repeat with a teaspoon of oil in each cylinder to isolate piston rings or valves/headgasket. If all's well, your engine is just leaky.

I'll hit 110k on my 2009 Fit next week. Got a new job with an hour drive to get there. That combined with how much new cars are, makes me think I'm holding onto this car for another 4 years.
So I'm trying to do everything I can think of to make it last longer. Lot of things upcoming (seafoam the engine through the brake booster, oil change, check spark plug tightness, new battery before next winter, change speakers, replace windshield moldings, replace hatch door handle). Thinking of also changing the struts out this year. I want to also repaint the hood.

Bought my 2011 Fit Sport/Nav/Auto in 2018 with 79k miles. in July 2022, had 107k. Since then I'm at 136k miles (lotta trips from VA to FL/back)

Just did an synthetic oil change ($36 from groupon) and the shop told me I had all this work that needed to be done.

Pretty sure they just checked CarFax

All fluids (Transmission, Brake, Coolant) - complete flush August 2022
Alignment - August 2022 (their sale price was double what I paid last year)
Serpentine Belt - last 2019
60k maint/Sparc Plugs - 70k miles - previous owner
Battery - well yeah, the day before I had to call AAA for a jump. They said they'd bring a battery. Contractor didn't have it, so just got a jump
Air/internal air filters - August 2022

300,000 km on my 2010 Honda Fit this week (16 Jan 2024) - I am so excited to hit this milestone, hopefully will get me a few more - have no idea what I would replace her with.

Miles...

149000 / 239792 km on my '12 Fit 5MT.
Burns no oil, but have oil leak coming from valve cover gasket.
Clutch literally crumbled 1 1/2 years ago - replaced with new clutch whose friction pads give off stink like rotten garbage when I don't engage properly, (Clutch otherwise fine).
Just replaced chirping Serpentine Belt and tensioner. May need valves adjusted.
Run Amsoil OE Synthetic oil with WIX HD oil filter.
Replaced OEM air filter with K&N filter, (What a waste - see You Tube testing of filters on Project Farm channel).
Found top notch Cooper CS5 Ultra touring tires, a few months ago (Discontinued), but only could find 3 - anyone got an extra Cooper CS5 tire 195/55R16 lying around somewhere?
I hate my interior carpet, (Read "Flocked" floor covering).
I hate that I cannot disable auto locking doors feature.

The carpet is such trash. Same in our tacoma.
Did you already buy the 3 coopers?.. That would be a seriously bold move. Michelin pilot AS3+ aren't half bad. The tread design and shape do make them quite responsive to steering changes, but the grip is good and the warranty *was* good when I got them. I think 60k miles for AA traction. I quit running summer tires -- my clutch hates them.

If you're in the market I'd pitch the idea of getting these:

https://www.tirerack.com/wheels/spar...form-ff1-white

I will, as soon as someone's willing to bankroll me. Downsize to 15, lower 1" on crz suspension, and maybe I'll repaint my hood 😂

Those wheels are awful light for the price. I figure I'd make some money back in fuel economy. Get my average mpg up from 32.

There is a way to disable the auto lock feature. It is detailed in the owner's manual.

This was in January I think but I am now closing in on 47K miles. The old lady that owned my car before me did not drive much.... It took me about fifteen months to equal as many miles as she did in ten years.

1) Take a look under your car and in the enging compartment to see if it is a leaking issue.
2) Have a mechanic run a obd scan to see if there are any flags like PVC or vacuum issues.
3) Compression check and leak down test to test health of the motor and what blowby issues there are ie. rings, valves, gaskets, etc.
4) New motor.
5) Rebuild existing motor.
6) Replace with used or remanufactured motor.

Hey wiseguy,
You're right, there is a way to disable the auto lock and I thought it was detailed in the owner's manual. I tried it several times, consulting the manual, even changing up the steps involved when I could not get it to disable. When that did not work, I even happened to meet the local Honda Dealer's Shop Manager, outside the shop's garage door as he was coming back to work from lunch, (I was intent on finding answers and took my FIT to the service advisor who was ignorant. I left, then drove around the lot when I accidentally met him).
This local Honda Dealer's Shop Manager even admitted to me, off the record, that he and his mechanics had a hard time trying to disable the auto locking at customer requests and downright could not disable them at all on some FITs. Seems that Honda installed differing auto unlock sequencing codes in different FITs.

So no, Frenzal, disabling the auto lock feature is not detailed in my OEM Fit owner's manual.

If you mean the doors automatically locking when you walk away -- yeah, thats totally weird with this car 😂 I always forget if I locked it, so I hardly notice. What was in the owners manual was setting all doors to auto-unlock when you shut the car off. Did that, and that worked.
But yeah, valid point. Be nice to Frenzal though. he's cool. dont make me post up a pic of my ass.
