What vehicle did your Fit replace?

New Fit, new member
Got the Fit about 2 1/2 weeks ago, the third tank of gas will go in tomorrow, and I'll actually calculate the gas mileage - which from the trip odometer looks just great so far! And yes, I'm enjoying the car...

So, my curiosity question is "What Vehicle did your Fit replace?"
I'm coming out of a '04 Ford Focus ZX3 that I really liked, but at 175k was developing issues that would cost more to fix than the car was worth.

What are you coming from?

2008 GD Fit. Was the first owner and sad to see it go. That said, it went to wife's niece who is taking good care of her. On another note, the niece is pretty good looking too!!!!!

Great car that put up with a bunch of my abuse, but it just wasn't the car for where I'm at in my life anymore. Not to mention that it really wasn't that fast compared to similar cars today. Technology has really come a long way.

Mercury Gran Marquis to Fit sport, color and trunk floor area is the same, nothing else. Bought the Fit for one reason to tow it, lightest vehicle with auto transmission. Love it.

As for me, my Fit ultimately replaced my 01 Honda Civic but it also coincided with my scaling back to just 1 car...

The Fit will not replace any vehicles. I needed an automatic for my daughters as both my wife's car and mine are sticks. Before anyone says "make 'em drive stick!" I'll add that learning to drive in SoCal traffic is much more hazardous than when I was learning to drive on rural roads so I'd rather they have as little to distract them as possible. They can learn to drive a proper stick later on!

None. I had no car for 35 years living in NYC before our move to FL. So it replaces the Chrysler T&C we rented (for our storage containers that we didn't want in the moving van) to get here that broke down on day one, and the subsequent nasty Camry that stunk of cigarettes we had to take to replace it (in which we had to dump the containers' contents into the trunk and discard them).

1998 Ford Ranger XLT

Traded in a 1998 Ford Ranger XLT that had 74,800 miles. If was 16 years 2 months old and I ordered it new in July 1998. I work out of the house so my mileage is really low. Max was 8500 miles one year, lows were 3500 and average is 4600 miles per year.

It had major hail damage in 2003 and recently developed a mis-fire on cylinder #4 so the check engine was on solid. Also with the mis-fire the average MPG was less that 12 so gas was the major expense in its yearly costs.

I got $1500 on the trade and thought that was a good deal.

MSRP on it was $20,200 back in 1998 but I paid $14,998 out the door which included TTL and all fees. I had $2828 in Ford dollars earned on the 5% max $700 yearly Ford charge card. I maxed out the card each year at $700 but never paid a penny of interest. Along with a $1000 + $500 rebate I had total of $4328 in rebates.

The hail damage in 2003 was so bad the insurance company totaled the truck but I was able to keep it and get a settlement check for $6600 which brought my overall purchase price down to $8400. The truck was in perfect condition at that time with the exception of the hail damage.

Directly replaced a 2003 Ford Escape which I had purchased solely for a winter trip. Ended up selling my other cars and kept the Escape until I sold it and then purchased my '15 Fit. Love this car.

OP, I used to have a 05 ZX3 as well. Miss that car. Had it modified to over 350whp. The Fit reminds me a lot of my Focus back when it was stock.

My 2015 Milano red CVT Fit replaced my 2009 Milano red Fit Sport manual. I LOVED the 2009 and was hard to turn it over. I had no choice, I wrecked my left knee and right wrist in a fall down my steps{kitten induced}and couldn't drive it for 2 months. Coworker drove me to and from work, girlfriend all the other times and places. Needed an auto because knee still isn't right and shifting doesn't help.

Liking the 2015,but not loving it,yet. Just loved the more basic 2009,more engaging to drive and I think handled better too.

For the animal lovers,no kittens were harmed in my fall. Drywall, railing and myself were harmed in the free fall.

My 2015 EX-L CVT replaced my beloved 2008 GD3 Sport A/T in Vivid Blue Pearl. It had 49,4xx miles on it, mostly highway (driving home on the weekends from college)

I bought that car my freshman year of college brand new and worked my butt off and paid it off in 2 years. It lasted 5 years. Upon getting an awesome job, the bug to get a nicer car bit me, but I couldn't leave the Fit family.

Terminated our lease on a 2012 Nissan Leaf early because it would have just sit the next 3 months anyway. I also sold off my '86 Mercedes 300E. So it was a 2 for 1 swap.
