2007 bmw 335i. it wasn't an absolute horror story in the 3.5 years i owned it but i was ready for an easy-going econobox. literally my fuel cost has halved. and i don't have anxiety over scratches or an aging leather interior, not to mention the aging mechanics. the starter failed, water pump, thermostat, sunroof exploded, oil gasket. oil changes will now cost half as much as the DIY oil changes i did for the bimmer. easier life!

Loved that car. Just wasn't working for my family. My son inherited my height (I am 6'6") and he wasn't enjoying sitting in the back. The mpg being only 27 (on average for me) didn't help either.

But my EX CVT is a completely different, and awesome, replacement

2003 Lexus IS300. Loved the car to death. Dumped all my money into it, but black ice sent me straight into a tree and totaled it.

I really like this new Fit too. It's a change in pace and refreshing. Not as fast, but still fun and practical.

My Fit replaced a 2013 Hyundai Elantra that I had for less than a year. I couldn't stand that car for many reasons, which is what drove me to trade it in. Previously drove a 2003 Toyota Corolla LE that I adored and I had driven for 7 years but finally had to pass it down to my younger sister.

What didn't you like about the Elantra? I actually like that car a lot, at least its looks. I've only driven one once.

I was rushed into buying it at the time and it was far from my first choice. It looks great but mine was rife with electrical problems. There's also a very common suspension issue where the rear end tends to skip/wobble over bumps which Hyundai claims is normal but is borderline unsafe and it is quite uncomfortable. The gas mileage was also terribly overstated by Hyundai and the blind spots (even the front pillars!) were atrocious. I tried to have the suspension issue addressed a few times with the dealer as the car still had a warranty but nothing came of it because apparently there was no issue. I was just never happy with the car

2001 GTI VR6 2.8L. It was a great car, but it was on it's last leg. I bought the 2015 fit because i am obsessed with hatchbacks. I think they are the greatest thing since sliced bread.

I had a 2011 Fit, traded it in for a Ridgeline. The Ridgeline was fine when I had a 9 mile commute to work, now that it is 50 miles combined with gas prices over the $3 mark, it became cost prohibitive.

As to why I got ride of the 2011 in the first place which I loved - the main reason was the AC couldn't cool the car enough in the southern Texas summers and it was a true sweat box. I blacked out the windows which helped but it just got to be too much to deal with on a daily basis.

Now being in northern CA, I am back into a car I enjoy and the Ridgeline stays close to home.

In that case, it sounds like its a very good thing that your rid of it. You shouldn't be unhappy every time you sit behind the wheel of your own car.

Mine is replacing a 2013 Elantra as well and it is soooo much better to drive.

I'm short and even with the seat all the way up, my line of vision was the top of the steering wheel. It is sloped so you can't see much on the left front for making turns or watching out for cars/pedestrians. The gas mileage was terrible. 30 mpg. I'm getting 38 right now in my Fit.

It does have a huge trunk though which I miss because my Fit doesn't have a cargo cover and my cars tend to be a bit of a catch all for stuff.

Welcome Jo Anna. If the cargo cover is a necessity, they are available for the Fit.

Exactly my feeling! so much better now.

@ Jo Anna - there's also a DIY cargo cover thread if you wanted to go that route!

1997 Ford Escort

The Escort was a good car for 18 years but it was time to move on. The Fit is better equipped and has way better cargo capacity.

I traded my '09 Fit Sport MT I'd had for 6 years on a '15 Fit EX MT. I guess when I find something I like, I stick with it.

I was perfectly happy with the '09, but I wanted the extra features of the new car.

Mine didn't replace anything. Can't put a baby in an S2000 or on a CBR600RR and I'm definitely not selling them, so the Fit was an addition.

The NYC subway. And the occasional car service.

2007 MINI Cooper S. Worst. Car. Ever.

In a span of 3 years of ownership I replaced:
Exhaust valves 1-4 (at different times), transmission mount, throttle body, SRS Airbag issues, defective key slot, HPFP pump (x2), turbo, water pump, thermostat, timing chain, timing chain tensioner, valve cover... and those were just the major things. This thing would also burn oil like crazy. I had the car in service for a total of 138 days.
