What vehicle did your Fit replace?
Thanks for that! Never been keen on the FN2 plus the yearly road tax for one is double if what a Jazz is over here.
Quite like my Jazz to be honest

Civic
Wife's 2009 Civic Hybrid. On its 3rd hybrid battery in <50k miles. Still under warranty, but she was obsessed about the possibility of having to replace a >$3000 battery after the warranty expired.
Fit gets about the same mileage - have already seen as high as 47mpg - and is more fun to drive.

I used to have a 2005 Chevy Aveo LS hatchback. At the time I was a college student and my 1990 Toyota Corolla died on me after 15 years. Also at that time, I couldn't really afford anything beyond a base model car, and 10 years ago, base model was REALLY a base model. The Aveo had air conditioning, and it had decent enough cargo space. However, I wasn't much of a highway driver then, and I got a job that required more highway driving... and found out that a car with 103 HP was NOT ideal for 695 in Baltimore MD, much less I 95. Try to get that car above 60, and it's like "you've GOT to be kidding me". Air conditioning was the only real perk with this car though... no cruise control, no power windows, power mirrors, and there was no such thing as bluetooth in a car back then. That Aveo had no real problems until I saw a flashing oil light... however I waited too long to have it looked at and the car just died on me.
So when I went car shopping, I found that leasing was really my only option as I can't really afford payments to BUY a car right now. I test drove a new Corolla, which of course was miles better than my 1990 Corolla, and it looked a lot more sleek and sophisticated, but at the same time, it still had a "plain vanilla" feel to it. I also test drove a Scion xD, because I wanted to stick with having a hatchback. However, the steering wheel was not adjustable, and was sitting too low for me. Also, the headrests blocked the view of the rear window, it had no center console, a filmsy armrest, and very small cupholders. Then I went to Honda and test drove the Civic, and I liked it a lot. It had a sportier feel and look, and the dashboard to me was pretty cool. The dealer at that Honda, however, said I couldn't get a Honda Fit for the payment range I was looking for.
However, I knew someone at another Honda dealership, someone I used to work with, and have known for 15 years. I test drove another Civic, then I test drove the Fit, however at my friend's dealership, he told me that the Fit was actually LESS expensive to lease than the Civic. Also, they had no LX models on the lot, only EX and higher. Also, leasing the EX would only be 20 dollars more per month... it was a no brainer... why pay destination charges for an LX when I can save on the destination charges for an EX, and get a LOT more options too?! Also, driving the Fit, I liked it just as much as the Civic, and leasing the Civic, I would've had to pay an extra $30-$40 a month, but with the Fit, I didn't really feel I was sacrificing anything, and actually gaining cargo space too. I want to buy the car once my lease is up! So far so good!

1994 Accord LX. Ran that bad boy 320k into the ground. It acutally didnt crap out but had a ghost electrical issue that was causing ignition problems. I firmly believe the reason it lasted so long was from constantly having fresh oil due to a leak it had. Became an organ and sold to the salvage yard R.I.P.(Rest In Pieces) old sport.

1991 Mazda RX7 convertible
The engine seized for the second time and I didn't feel like performing another rebuild, when I'm about to start college... It was time to part ways for something more economical. :/
Just bought our 2015 Fit EX CVT WOP last night, primarily as my wife's replacement vehicle for our older 2002 Odyssey (with about 200K still in very good shape).
The daughter now has unfettered access to the Odyssey (for final year of HS and social activities) and we'll probably retire that vehicle in about 9 months as she goes off to college for most of the year. The following summer she either finishes learning to drive stick or negotiates for FIT time from my wife.
Our intention is that now that the kiddos are off (or almost off) to college, we no longer need lots of people and cargo capability and can still get by with the a much more efficient Fit and still go 2 people touring/camping as we did 30 years ago. In 9 months we'll know if we've been able to wean ourselves from the ultra cargo carrier Odyssey for sure.
Although I've always had manual transmissions until the Odyssey and generally adverse to automatics, I felt the CVT with paddle shifters satisfies my 'control' needs when I'm inclined, but otherwise it is more the family cruiser with driving access for all and won out over the 6 speed, especially with lower top end cruising RPMs.

I'm glad you replaced it. Leaking oil constantly is terrible for the enviornment
You're right, cars and mileage have come a very long way. The paint on the Ford was gorgeous. Did you do any kind of special treatments?
The Fit will not replace any vehicles. I needed an automatic for my daughters as both my wife's car and mine are sticks. Before anyone says "make 'em drive stick!" I'll add that learning to drive in SoCal traffic is much more hazardous than when I was learning to drive on rural roads so I'd rather they have as little to distract them as possible. They can learn to drive a proper stick later on!
