Their price is half off of what is being shown on the website through January? That seems almost too good to be true if so.

Not sure what the website is showing...for awhile the online price didn't show the discount. In all the tuner mags here, Wilwood is advertising ~$500 for a big brake conversion. Best part with these kits is the weight reduction (aluminum rotor hat, aluminum calipers).

Hey I checked out your other car towards the end of the year. It seems you have got quite a bit of seem stitching done! You have inspired me. I just have to find some $$$ and some extra time. I have a '96 Prelude Si in the garage just begging for some attention. I actually thought about letting it go ultra cheap but after seeing the work you've done I want to play with gutting it. Seem stitch. Motor swap or boost or maybe both swap and boost. I don't know. I just need to look to see what kind of lb/hp I'd be looking at if I were to do it. I just need to search. Search and I will find. There are just sooo many sites/forums and most for that year are so old. I hate and not to mention I'd likely get flamed for bringing a 5-7 year old thread back to life. ROFLMAO!!! Anyways, thanks for the inspiration! It may just work out that I could bring the lude back to life!

Don't sell it. Build it. That is a classic body style. I have an issue of Modified Mag with a kswapped 96 prelude. That would make a nice track-prepped car boosted.

Preludes don't get the respect they deserve IMHO.

Wow looked at some K24 specs (BOOSTED) Holy S#!T!!! some guys are getting 400+HP but Tq numbers seem low comparatively. (~280 ft/lb) But that is some serious power! The lude would be starting @ approx 2800 lbs. Time for a diet. Next is to research how much fabrication I'm gonna do to get the K24/6 spd mounted in the car. Thanks again for the motivation!

I would strongly suggest you look into starting with an Accord k24a4 and accord 5 spd tranny...this will save you $$$$. And if boost is in your future then the longer gear pulls of the 5 spd would be a bonus.

Started contemplating the CRZ front LCA swap. Now that the parts are available online I'm able to compare part numbers.

First off, the front subframe is identical...same part # and everything....

CRZ:

FIT:

And just recently I've been able to find the part # for the aluminum front LCAs from the CRZ...they're $220 each. The only variables will be
1) whether the Fit knuckle will work
2) if the offset is wider, the Fit axles may be too short
Once the snow thaws and I get my Fit out of storage...this will be my new project. Props to 555sexydrive for suggesting this swap.

Unfortunately, the torsion beam sussy is identical between the CRZ and Fit...so no weight savings potential there. It's unfortunate that Honda didn't give the CRZ the same multi-link rear suspension as the TSX and Civic. The upside for Fit owners is that the "tracking/slalom" ability of the CRZ should be identical to that of the Fit....it's the same chassis....and we will benefit from the aftermarket suspension components.

I'm guessing that the Fit might be quicker through the turns b/c of the additional weight of the 5-lug (obviously the IMA + batteries also contribute a significant amount of weight).

Good news, the axles and half-shaft are identical b/w the CRZ and Fit...so the only potential problem bolting the aluminum LCAs would be the knuckle.

Glad to know the research is appreciated.

BTW, congrats on the turbo install...you've really been an innovator in this forum. My hat is off to you and DSM

Not to get too mushy with this love-fest, but _my_ hat is off to you both! Talk about fighting for the GE8! I'm doing all I can, using my meager technical skills and formidable research/communication skills to poke and prod. companies in the best way possible to consider making or importing parts for us... but you guys are freakin' heroes, as far as I'm concerned! THANK YOU!

Cheers,

Basil

Awesome Makita. I knew Spoon was just blowing me off, maybe because they didn't even think of swapping the front lower arms of the CR-Z to the GE8. And they of all companies pretty much only use stock Honda parts and just finesse them a bit more.

I'll definitely be on stand-by to purchase after you make that first initial one. :P

Why would you take out your airbags out??? I understand you want to reduce the weight but you are gambling with your own safety by doing that.

If someone is using this car on a track with a helmet on.....the airbags will do more harm than good. Everyone has different wants/needs out of a car.
