I think he was asking if you were CARB legal still... and if you installed a cat-delete or test pipe then you are no longer going to be CARB legal. Even still with bigger injectors and running that much more power with the cat still in I don't know if you would pass CARB.

thanks for the replies yeefit and gd3kamiswanab. So if I do get the base hks turbo kit, I can expect to see around 145 whp and still stay carb legal? I would be satisfied with that, as I am not a speed maniac but I would like to take it to the track one day and I hate having to downshift just to pass someone on the free way hehe.

hopefully someone at honda reads all the forums and decides to make a fit Si, 160-200hp. That would be perfect with just a couple bolt ons. Whenever the economy gets outta the gutter I would love to do the HKS kit. This fit needs some balls

Which electronic boost controller are you using? I'm thinking of raising the boost to 8.5psi or even higher.

what is the highest numbers someone is putting out with the hks kit? im still sorta on the fence between the hks and t1r kit. no hks certified tuner around here makes me lean toward the t1r kit though.

Both kits will be able to yield about 170-190whp with upgraded injectors, test pipe, and tuning. The limiting factor with both kits will be the stock fuel delivery system. I believe the stock fuel pump can only handle around 190-200whp max. If you build up the internals and upgrade the fuel system the turbo should be able to handle around 15psi safely which could get you around 220-250whp. But thats a big MAYBE since no one has done it and there are very few internals offered for the L15A at this time.

From what I know, if you do the right mods you will be able to get more out of the T1R kit only because it has an external wastegate. With the HKS kit you will be limited on the exhaust end of things since the wastegate is internal and the extra exhaust will go back into the system where the T1R kit goes straight out to the atmosphere. (this is the main reason why the T1R kit is considered "off road" use only). But I daily drive my fit.

Both kits use the same turbo, the only real differences is the engine management system and the wastegate type. Both EMS need tuning and a lot of it comes down to who does it and how good they are.

Not having a certified HKS tuner near by makes things difficult as only they can unlock and tune the F-Con IS. GReddy Emanage Ultimate is simple to tune and many more ppl know how to do it. The emanage comes with the software included so you can install it on your own laptop and do your own data analysis and tuning.

I pulled 170whp @ 13.6 AFR (I know its a tad lean) on a dynojet at 6psi with my kit. I'm gonna go talk to the shop I went to that screwed me over to get my dyno graphs to prove it in the next couple weeks. After I left that shop that screwed me over I uploaded a new map for 8.5 psi and I haven't found a place to go to get retuned and dyno'd. It feels a lot faster at 8.5psi... my guess is that I am in the 180-190whp range now.

Ya, I plan to get to 9-10 psi in the spring time... no point on going to that psi til I get a new clutch and motor mounts installed.

1-step colder spark plugs is about all you really need. I have the NGK Iridium IX plugs. You'll want to change the oil to a synthetic oil (I'm using Redline 5w40), and if you plan to put in a water temp gauge then you'll want to pick up a jug of honda coolant.

I have added gauges (boost, oil temp, water temp, oil press, and a wideband AFR), added the T1R oil cooler kit, and changed out the BOV that came with the kit to an HKS SSQV.

im running the colder plugs and royal purple synthetic oil. i would want to stay in the safe so i plan on running boost, oil temp and pressure, and wideband afr gauges. im looking at getting the oil cooler but is that required? why would you want to run a differant blow off valve?

200 engine producing hp would be cool, but do you realize how much the si would have to be putting out to justify the higher price point? we'd have to have like a 250hp si, which is ok with me, but i just can't see honda doing that.

160-170 sounds more in line with what would work.

Does anyone know how to get the F-Con to display A/F ratio, etc?

also, what's the little button switch for?

Probably something better left alone. I don't know if it would be displaying AF ratios from the factory sensors.

I can't wait to stabilize financially and get dental work done because I'm so ordering this kit.

you have to get optional HKS A/F sensors in order to display A/F properly
the littel button switch is used to change 3 type of F-Con display menu(pages).
the first page is the picture above

Its true. I know this thread has covered nearly everything (if not more) on the HKS kit, but we should bring it back to life so some of our new members don't have to read back 20 pages worth of posts...
So i got some questions to get us started
1)Overall PROS and CONS of the HKS turbo kit.

2)HKS turbo kit vs. T1R turbo kit
----Parts the T1R turbo kit comes complete with, that which the HKS turbo kit lacks. Vise-Versa.
----Side by Side Dyno Comparison Tests?
----Conclusion: Best Bang for your Buck?

3)Members' own personal pics of HKS/T1R kits installed.
