Mileage reports: Manual transmission (5MT)
Hello,
I realized that I am getting way worse gas mileage than you guys are. My car is slightly modded with intake, headers, exhaust, and slightly wider 15" wheels with 205/50 tires and lowered. I get average 30 mpg and maybe 33mpg hypermiling. are all you guys running stock cars?

Well, as far as mods I have:
- short ram intake
- skunk2 short shifter
- FAS switch(thanks to Paul)
- full grill block
- tires at 80psig
- and a whole bag of tricks
speaking of which since gas seems to be going back up I attempted a semi-hard core hypermile to work today and achieved 62.1mpg
That is not even a full gallon to get to work(60mile commute).
good thing I can still do it!
When o when will we be able to buy all electrics that can achieve 200miles on a charge!!!???

I recently did a long trip from PA to upstate new york and back, mostly cruise-on at about 60 and averaged in the low 40s. I haven't averaged below 40 in a very long time, and that's with very little effort.
It sounds like you may be driving on flat tires.
@trancedsailor That's about what I get with no drafting and steady speed. It's not hard to get 50 but I think you'd have to use a lot of drafting and/or hypermiling tricks. A lot depends on how open the road is and how windy it is. I make a 20 minute drive every week that consistently varies by 6-8mpg each way (depending on inclines/declines and depending on wind condition). That's without me changing my driving style at all.
Just out of curiousity
Just out of curiosity . . . you guys indicating 50+ MPG . . . are you using the dash indicator or figuring actual fuel usage vs. actual miles driven?
I've been tracking indicated average fuel mileage at time of fill-up vs actual mileage calculation with miles driven divided by fuel used and constantly find a 3-6 MPG variation, with the indicated average being falsely high.
Cheers!

jT No I have and older one and use a Scan Gauge, but always go by the calculated with Gal's pumped and miles driven.. So does P B and H and RichXKU
speaking of which..
316 miles
6.261 gal
50.5mpg
This was on some Ethanol laced 87 Octane

I did a little test yesterday to help some that don't try know what my can can do when driven like I could give a rats ass about FE.
70MPH Cruse + AC 95% freeway
167 miles
5.187gal
32.2MPG
Without questing the worst FE by a ton in my cars life

Finaly got in a decent tank again:
509.3 miles
9.8 gallons
51.9mpg
I forgot to put my grill block in this morning with temperatures at 25-30F. I used cruise control doing the speed limit with using heat and achieved 42.6mpg.
