Don't know how you manage to stall it. I've maybe stalled onces in 4 yrs I've been driving manual Fits.
Is your overloaded and driven in the hills?

It maybe that some people aren't as comfortable with clutches despite the experience. No offense.

I've installed 3 sets (McGuard, Gorilla, and some other one). In 4 yrs in LA, no issues.
I imagine the thieves would be wise to move to an easier target. Keep the interior clean and you can also open the glovebox to show that there is nothing there.

Perhaps I should have mentioned that I tend to get 100K+ miles out of a clutch, which means that I pretty much try to avoid excessively slipping the clutch for any reason. In the Subie I can get away with erring on the side of less slippage; in the Fit less so. The difference is that that Subie motor has torque just off idle, and the Honda has none.

If one were to be the sort that trades cars in when they get dirty, one could slip the bejeezus out of the clutch every time they pull away from a stop sign, never stall a manual transmission car, and never suffer any consequence. That person is not me. No offense.

If 1.5 liter doesnt have aby torque, how is the rest of the world doing w 1.3 1.1 1.0 all with manuals? The fit is light and doesnt need much to get it to move. Maybe something is defective or needs adjustment in your car but to me this car has an easy and well balanced clutch.

2 things i don't like about my 2012 fit (and only 2)

1. The manual transmission, at times, is harder to shift out of 1st (usually if shifting while making a right turn, but again only once and a while.) Its as if you have to "pull" it out of 1st. It won't happen at the dealers so I am on my own. (would a mugan short shift kit fix this?)
2. Tach on the left of the speedo (small gripe since I shift by feel most of the time)...(Can the tach be moved the right?)

I love my 2012 Fit but one small quibble is also the MT....specifically, sometimes it is hard to shift into reverse. It is more than just that it is purposely made so shifting into reverse will not happen accidentally...it really does not want to go there sometimes and takes multiple attempts. I have not tried to have this checked out as I do not have much confidence in the dealer(s) and they might do more harm than good. At any rate it is a minor inconvenience.

Update--Here is a thread I just found about this problem: https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/gene...s-reverse.html

after 5 years...

....my list of "wishes" hasn't changed much.
• a sixth gear that would drop revs enough to make highway driving quieter / improve mileage and engine life. It appears that the '15 will have it!
• a temp guage
• a quicker return to lower rpm's after a cold start. I have to back up about 80 feet to get out of the driveway in the AM, and I gotta hold'er back with the brakes to keep my speed safe in reverse.
• a little lower horizon line at the bottom of the windshield. Maybe a seat-height adjustment would help, even though I'm 5'10+. I miss the view I had out of the Fit's ancestor, my '91 Civic Wagon (sniff-RIP).

About the clutch and gearing, I'll say this: I find the clutch action as nice as any thing I've ever driven, and the shifting very good, at least. WAY better than the Civic was.

About the engine: I like it. I know it loves rev's to deliver it's maximum power, but I think it does real well delivering torque at low rev's, too, for a little guy. In normal driving, I just use first to get it moving, or to creep in (rare) heavy traffic. Then, 2nd or 3rd can take over, with good (not max) acceleration at--what-----1500 rpm? If I'm at a steady 30 mph speed limit on the flat for a while, and don't need to speed up, I'll just leave it in 4th or even 5th with the cruise control on to keep me safe from the radar gun. It ticks along nice and smooth, no complaints. When the limit rises and I'm not in a hurry, just a little throttle takes her right on up to 60 plus, gently.

I do drive mostly alone to commute, in hilly country, and I prefer to buy cars I can drive for 15 years plus.

I never had your problem in either of my Fits (08 and 09), but I can tell you that I've had similar problems on my MT cars in the past. In my cases, the engine mounts were the problem. Turning the car with the inherent torque, with soft mounts, may move the engine and tranny enough to have shift problems as the linkage moves.

Unhappy What I Don't Like About My Fit.

I purchased my Fit Sport in 2010. The first month
I my battery died 15 times. My Fit spent more time
in the Honda repair shop than in my garage. I was told
Over and over again nothing was wrong. I wrote to Honda
Customer Service but that was a waste of time. I was told I was
damaging the battery because I used a trickle charge overnight
and I didn't drive it far enough. I had driven over 50 to 100 miles
when my battery died.

Amazingly, I was able to drive for a couple of years without a
problem until recently. My battery died and left me stranded four
times. I left my Fit with the dealer for several days only to be told
there is nothing wrong with the battery. I just purchased a portable
battery charger so I can jump start the Fit when the battery dies.

The Honda services had the nerve to tell me I am the only Fit owner
who complains about the battery. I told them to check out this site.

I really wonder about these darn dealers. I recently took my Fit in for a minor problem/question about the factory alarm system. The service writer took a quick look under the dash and proclaimed I had an aftermarket alarm installed and there would be a diagnostic fee and half a day of down time to let me know. My car is completely stock and when I tried to set her straight she practically accused me of lying. In the end did not have to pay anything as of course there is no aftermarket alarm installed, but I was quite disgruntled with the service and attitude. Jump to blame me before they even know anything, how rude.

I offered to buy a new battery and I was told they would install
a better battery but later said only the factory batteries were available.
I am going to write to Consumer Report to ask them if they have ever done
a study on car batteries.

In all this time did you ever get a new battery? You don't have to have the dealership install it you know. Did you ever get a second opinion from a shop other than the dealership?

I have had the Fit Battery checked at a battery shop
and was told the battery was OK. I am planning to buy
a battery but not from Honda. Has anyone purchase a
dependable battery for their Fit? If so what type and
model?

Thanks!!

I can tell you that many of that vintage batteries had problems that could not be detected by any standard tests. I had one in my 2009 Fit and had numerous problems. Charging and doing a load test and using the sight glass didn't make a difference. I eventually bought a new battery after months of dead batteries overnight. Since 2009 the new battery has worked flawlessly. Just get another battery. It's too frustrating trying to figure out the problem, and , like me, you won't get any satisfaction at the dealer. The battery I got was another standard Fit battery from Honda and has had no problems in five years. They will not admit there was a problem even though the parts department at the dealership says there were lots of replacements of new batteries for the Fit due to similar problems. My 2008 never had any problems and the original battery is still great. You just got one of the duds.

What don't you like about your Fit.

Thank you for the information. I plan to replace the battery
even though I have been told over and over that nothing is
wrong with my battery. I love the Fit, especially the milage,
but the battery is a lemon.
