I recently discovered a couple more things I don't like about my Fit.
1) The blinker sound is too low and the blinkers don't always turn off after taking the turn.
2) When the AC is on and I am slowing down to a stop, the transmission occasionally hard shifts and lurches a bit. It also lurches (from time to time) when I have the ac on and I am at a complete stop as well.

You have to turn the wheel enough for it to turn off. Ive never had trouble with mine.

I know the lurching well. I filled my rear dogbone and top transmission mount with hotglue, and not only did it get rid of any sort of lurching, it got rid of nearly all the wheelhop from a heavy launch

Back in the 70's (?) I bought a vacuum switch that did just that. It worked great. Don't remember where I got it, and haven't seen one in a long time.
If I'm ready to pull out on a busy road, and more power would be nice to have, I push the a/c button, just before pulling out. Instant 5 or so, HP!
Some times when cruising along at 35-45 mph, I will turn the a.c off now and then, and the mpg jumps up 5 mpg +/-!! Here in SW FL, it's on most of the time!

I've had two A/C compressor/coil assemblies installed in less than a year within 65-77k miles. What gives?

after purchase, (2009 sport) honda sent me an on-line survey.

my complaints then and still, are .....

1- thin paint...especially taffeta white... the other colors don't look as thin except maybe for the metallic silver, chips very easy too...did I say thin?
2- poor carpet. looks like what was used as underlayment in cars from the 70s-80s. very difficult to vac dirt out ....
3- uphostery fabric...anything & everything static clings to it. even when trying to brush /vac clean stuff/debris clings as if it is magnetic!
4- 5sp Auto had notchy shifts but since has settled in to smoother shifts.
in defense of honda i have noticed the shifts improve when the accelerator pedal is not feathered.
5-spark plugs on the back side of the head....just a mild inconvenience.
6- not a complaint but wish the car had rear disc instead of drums....

gd

I'm almost two months in of ownership of my 2010, here are my annoyances

-Lights don't turnoff automatically both interior @ exterior

-MPG isn't as great as it could be

-No engine undertray, really???

-Guage cluster plastic is so damn cheap and easily scratched even though I just replaced it

-No steering wheel controls without navi?

-Non-illuminated ignition ring

-No Valet key (I had to get my own made)

-No center arm rest, this is starting to get annoying that I have to constantly buy things that should have come standard lol

To be fair to this car I think I should list the things I like

-Handling is far better than I expected especially with aftermarket wheels/tires/springs

-So much space in such a little package, especially the trunk. With the seats down it turns the car into an SUV in terms of volume

-Instrument illumination at night is really nice

-Acceleration is pretty stout for such a small engine

-Relative low-cost of aftermarket accessories. Coming from a 350Z as my other car everything for my GE is really cheap in comparison

-Door visors, really like them alot and helps to keep the sun out of my eyes

Really? I thought I had to honk my horn twice, put the car in reverse and take two right turns to get them to turn off. Jk!

Yes, but the oil filter is on the front. I drove a D-series Civic for years, with the oil filter on the back of the block. You WILL spill it down the block, on the exhaust and on yourself when you change it. I'll gladly take easier oil changes (frequent) in exchange for harder plug changes (rare).

very true!......
my big question about the spark plug change. has anyone removed the trim , wiper arms , and cowling drain tray as instructed by the honda manual when changing plugs?
seems like a lot of work just to get at the plugs. i have scoped some threads about this and looks like most everyone has at least removed the intake chamber.

thanx,
GD

Had to scroll back up to gizmodog's post to see if I wasn't going crazy. Thought he was saying there were 5 plugs on the engine.

I'll also agree that having had to deal with D and B-series engines for years, filter on the front is great. Plugs are nothing. I hate changing them on my V8 SUV. Worst yet are those Triton motors on Fords.

Ya but that is more stuff to make the car more expensive and more stuff to break. What kind of mpg do you get?

I know, I still like to complain about it though.

I am averaging 30mpg's overall so it's not that bad. I need to learn to be a little softer on the throttle and I am sure my MPG's will improve

I get 35 in town, 37.5 on the highway with my 2011 Sport m/t. I've only had the car for a month though, so I'm still taking it easy. If I start hotdogging it, I'm sure gas mileage will suffer.

Drive belt adjusted WAY too tight. That will do it everytime.

I just realized a BIG dislike: automatic stability control. It's like an electronic nanny designed to make sure I never do anything fun with my Fit. I can turn it off, but I'd rather it default to off. I would only turn it on if there's ice or snow on the roads.

At 100000 miles+ I won't mind changing the plugs. The ease of changing oil and filter, by far makes up for the plug change work.
